The patios are open from the living room, guest bedroom and master bedroom and overlook a gorgeous pool below. Contemporary metal furniture continues the contemporary style from inside and complements the architecture of the building. Two loveseats with granite top tables are the perfect place for lounging in the afternoon. Pillows and an outdoor rug bring interesting textures to the patio. Behind the loveseats is a pub table for dining and entertaining. Off of the Guest Bedroom and Master Bedroom are more private seating areas for a quite morning cup of coffee or a reading in the afternoons. Exterior forms are emphasized with glass and fiber-cement panels at the top level, soaring over and sheltering containers clad in tougher, leathery Corten Steel at the ground level. Exposed concrete walls and rock-filled gabion retaining was selected to anchor the partially day-lighted basement level and garages to the land. Materials were chosen to be low-maintenance, relatively inexpensive, and to contrast the volumes that express the interior spaces.

Inspiration for a mid-century modern home design remodel in Seattle

Bedroom - eclectic bedroom idea

A large Master Suite with soft tones boasts huge floor to ceiling windows and doors with custom motorized drapery. Lots of plants and a quite seating area are off this room on a private balcony. The upholstered headboard and matching bed bench are trimmed with a dark hammered nail head and topped with custom luxury bedding. Behind the bed is a wall covered in subtle faux snakeskin paper. The nightstands and matching entertainment center are an elegant mixture of dark and light woods. Atop the nightstands is a pair of metal and crystal lamps. A custom desk was built on one side of the room to serve as the owner’s home office. Colorful artwork near the desk adds a pop of bold color. A dark wood and cream leather armchair and ottoman with a gold sculpted metal floor lamp and a dark wood side table are the perfect place for visiting or reading a book. to the large master suite. This bespoke kitchen was designed for a Victorian Townhouse in North London. Cabinets are finished in an Annie Sloan paint in Aubusson Blue with a top coat in wax. Brass knobs and pull handles. Bespoke wine rack makes great use of a narrow space, creating additional storage.

Inspiration for a contemporary hallway remodel in San Francisco

The wonderful thing about working with clients who have great taste and a house with good bones is you get to create a kitchen that feels like its always been there. When we were called to create a new kitchen space in this mid-century modern home in Middleton, we really were cognizant of the feel of the home. We didn’t want to create a kitchen that didn’t flow with the rest of the home and it was a home run. The house has a unique center island wall of cabinets as well as a wood ceiling that we embraced in the design. The kitchen back wall was created with a built in furniture look using wall of cabinets that feature a coffee bar, built in pantries and a long horizontal open display ledge. We found the perfect tile to use as a backdrop to the beautiful floating shelves that house the dishes and glasses. The cabinets are custom made and locally built using grain matched quarter sawn Douglas Fir. Douglas Fir was the perfect wood choice for this homes earthy natural feel and the contemporary minimal hardware really honors the design. The layout of the kitchen remained the same but the look is quite different. In addition to designing and project managing this kitchen remodel, we also refinished the existing wood floors, updated a small powder bathroom as well as designed, built and installed a new floating mantel in the family room.
