From Closed-Off to Connected: A Fresh Take on Coastal Modern Living This kitchen renovation began with a bold move: removing the walls that once separated it from the living and dining areas. The result is a bright, open-concept space that invites connection and flow. We introduced a fresh palette of denim blue lower cabinets paired with rich walnut uppers, creating a warm yet modern contrast that anchors the room. A playful geometric backsplash in two soft tones adds visual rhythm and personality, while the updated layout centers around a functional island with a built-in cooktop and seating for casual gatherings. Floating shelves, striped pendant lights, and layered textures bring in a relaxed coastal vibe with a touch of eclectic charm. This project is all about blending style and function—transforming a once-enclosed kitchen into a vibrant hub for everyday living and entertaining.

Additional square windows paired with an accent wall create an element of surprise in your master bedroom that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Seen in Victoria Hills, an Orlando community.

This contemporary family room features a sectional with a wood frame and grey upholstered seats, layered with black, grey, blue, and coral throw pillows and a dark grey waffle throw blanket for comfort and style. A circular blue ottoman adds a pop of color, while a grey, white, blue, and yellow geometric area rug anchors the space. A wood media console provides functional storage, and floor-to-ceiling windows fill the room with natural light. This light filled laundry room is as functional as it is beautiful. It features a vented clothes drying cabinet, complete with a hanging rod for air drying clothes and pullout mesh racks for drying t-shirts or delicates. The handy dog shower makes it easier to keep Fido clean and the full height wall tile makes cleaning a breeze. Open shelves above the dog shower provide a handy spot for rolled up towels, dog shampoo and dog treats. A laundry soaking sink, a custom pullout cabinet for hanging mops, brooms and other cleaning supplies, and ample cabinet storage make this a dream laundry room. Design accents include a fun octagon wall tile and a whimsical gold basket light fixture.

Our client wasn't ready to leave the home she loved, but a change in her health had made the upstairs bathroom harder to reach, and the main level didn't have a full bath. We converted one bay of her three-car garage into livable space, which gave us the room to build a fully accessible bathroom, a walk-in closet, and a proper mudroom and laundry on the level she actually lived on. Wide doorways. Heated floors. A curbless shower with a drain that disappears under the wall. Aged brass grab bars that read like jewelry rather than hospital equipment.

Inspiration for a mid-sized modern attached four-car garage remodel in Austin

Having a small child, loving to entertain and looking to declutter and kid-proof the gathering spaces of their home in the quaint village of Rockville Centre, Long Island, a stone’s throw from Manhattan, our client’s main objective was to have their living room and den transformed with a family friendly home makeover with mid-century modern tones boasting a formal, yet relaxed spirit Stepping into the home we found their living room and den both architecturally well appointed yet in need of modern transitional furniture pieces and the pops of color our clients admired, as there was a substantial amount of cool, cold grays in the rooms. Decor Aid designer Vivian C. approached the design and placement of the pieces sourced to be kid-friendly while remaining sophisticated and practical for entertaining. “We played off of the clients love for blush pinks, mid-century modern and turquoise. We played with the use of gold and silver metals to mix it up.” In the living room, we used the prominent bay window and its illuminating natural light as the main architectural focal point, while the fireplace and mantels soft white tone helped inform the minimalist color palette for which we styled the room around. To add warmth to the living room we played off of the clients love for blush pinks and turquoise while elevating the room with flashes of gold and silver metallic pieces. For a sense of play and to tie the space together we punctuated the kid-friendly living room with an eclectic juxtaposition of colors and materials, from a beautifully patchworked geometric cowhide rug from All Modern, to a whimsical mirror placed over an unexpected, bold geometric credenza, to the blush velvet barrel chair and abstract blue watercolor pillows. “When sourcing furniture and objects, we chose items that had rounded edges and were shatter proof as it was vital to keep each room’s decor childproof.” Vivian ads. Their vision for the den remained chic, with comfort and practical functionality key to create an area for the young family to come together. For the den, our main challenge was working around the pre-existing dark gray sectional sofa. To combat its chunkiness, we played off of the hues in the cubist framed prints placed above and focused on blue and orange accents which complement and play off of each other well. We selected orange storage ottomans in easy to clean, kid-friendly leather to maximize space and functionality. To personalize the appeal of the den we included black and white framed family photos. In the end, the result created a fun, relaxed space where our clients can enjoy family moments or watch a game while taking in the scenic view of their backyard. For harmony between the rooms, the overall tone for each room is mid-century modern meets bold, yet classic contemporary through the use of mixed materials and fabrications including marble, stone, metals and plush velvet, creating a cozy yet sophisticated enough atmosphere for entertaining family and friends and raising a young children. “The result od this family friendly room was really fantastic! Inspiration for a mid-sized eclectic master black tile and subway tile porcelain tile bathroom remodel in San Francisco with white walls

The design creates two new terrace gardens that function as outdoor room additions to the home. One terrace serves as a community garden room while a second terrace serves as a secluded garden of reflection. The garden of reflection offers beautiful views of perennial plants and orchids, but its most prominent feature is a slow flowing glass and granite fountain. The fountain consist of three glass blown globes by Duncan McClelland delicately placed on top of a granite base. Water flows through the granite base creating the illusion that the globe are floating on perfectly still water. Integrated fiber-optic lighting illuminates each globe.
