Before purchasing their early 20th-century Prairie-style home, perfect in so many ways for their growing family, the parents asked LiLu whether its imperfections could be remedied. Specifically, they were sad to leave a kid-focused happy home full of color, pattern, texture, and durability thanks to LiLu. Could the new house, with lots of woodwork, be made brighter and lighter? Of course. In the living areas, LiLu selected a high-gloss turquoise paint that reflects light for selected cabinets and the fireplace surround; the color complements original handmade blue-green tile in the home. Graphic floral and abstract prints, and furnishings and accessories in lively shades of pink, were layered throughout to create a bright, playful aesthetic. Elsewhere, staircase spindles were painted turquoise to bring out their arts-and-craft design and heighten the abstract wallpaper and striped runner. Wallpaper featuring 60s-era superheroes, metallic butterflies, cartoon bears, and flamingos enliven other rooms of the house. In the kitchen, an orange island adds zest to cream-colored cabinets and brick backsplash. This Woodland Home, built in 1946, had beautiful charm from the exterior but needed more love on the inside. The lack of storage in the kitchen, a dark family room and underutilized attic space led them to remodel the rest of the home. In the kitchen, walls were removed between the breakfast nook and kitchen and existing windows relocated and enlarged to maximize natural light. The cased opening into the dining was widened allowing better flow for serving dinner guests. Installing new hardwoods in the kitchen created a cohesive floorplan. Willow Gray cabinets installed to the ceiling, heightened the room and gave the homeowners much needed storage space. Bianco Ararus Granite and classic subway backsplash with dark grout added a finishing touch. A large cased opening was created between the family room and existing sunroom. New aluminum clad casement windows and large French door unit was installed which enhanced the natural light throughout the space. Window sashes were replaced on the lower level of the home. The existing attic stairs with heavy, worn carpet were rebuilt to widen as much as possible. New oak stair treads were installed and finished, tying into the original hardwood flooring throughout the main level. Black iron railing gives the illusion of more space while adding simple elegance. The attic, once used for storage, was updated with new windows, luxury vinyl plank flooring and cabinetry for seasonal clothing storage. In this one bedroom apartment, rich blue panels were installed as a headboard. A rug almost completely covers the carpeted flooring. Two end tables were added, with doors, as night stands. My client loves books and the shelving serves better than drawers in this case. The beautiful pair of marble lamps heighten the timeless look of this room's design with round gold mirrors in the background. Classic white linen's, with velvet pillows, finish off this elegant space.

For this small Toronto condo, our main goal was to heighten function while adding our client’s personal style throughout. To create a more spacious and welcoming feel focused on furniture with clean lines, minimal accents, a comfortable sectional to seat multiple guests, and an artwork display creates a welcoming relaxed interior. For the bedroom, we chose a black and white color palette with layered textures and patterns. A deep red throw gives the room a burst of rich color! To create more open space and a better flow between the dining room, we demolished the existing pantry to widen and heighten the kitchen and dining room doorway. Because of this wider opening, we could create a more oversized island for additional prep space. In the kitchen, we installed all new custom cabinetry which we painted in a stunning bright white color. We topped the cabinets with a white quartz countertop with elegant gray veining. Above the countertops, we installed a beautiful marble-look tile backsplash that complements the colors in the countertops well. We also added a large farmhouse sink and replaced all of the kitchen appliances.
