This existing client reached out to MMI Design for help shortly after the flood waters of Harvey subsided. Her home was ravaged by 5 feet of water throughout the first floor. What had been this client's long-term dream renovation became a reality, turning the nightmare of Harvey's wrath into one of the loveliest homes designed to date by MMI. We led the team to transform this home into a showplace. Our work included a complete redesign of her kitchen and family room, master bathroom, two powders, butler's pantry, and a large living room. MMI designed all millwork and cabinetry, adjusted the floor plans in various rooms, and assisted the client with all material specifications and furnishings selections. Returning these clients to their beautiful '"new" home is one of MMI's proudest moments!

Example of a small transitional u-shaped dark wood floor and brown floor eat-in kitchen design in New York with an undermount sink, white cabinets, white backsplash, mosaic tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances, an island and white countertops

We created this blue and white painted shaker kitchen for a young growing family. The kitchen was part of a larger renovation, which included a total reorganization of appliances and a new mudroom. We worked with EZ-Flow Innovations to help transform the space. The solid white oak hood surround was done in a shiplap pattern in a nod to farmhouse style. An L shaped peninsula gave the function of an island but worked better for the smaller footprint. We used simple handmade subway tile by Fireclay Tile and honed quartzite counters to accomplish a timeless design.

The previous kitchen was the result of an 80's remodel, complete with dropped ceiling. We opened up the space and re-configured the entire kitchen to include a large island.
The cabinetry is all custom. Double oven and range from Miele. SubZero fridge. The backsplash tile is from Heath Ceramics in LA. The Velux skylights are operable and have solar-powered shades.

This new 6400 s.f. two-story split-level home lifts upward and orients toward unobstructed views of Windy Hill. The deep overhanging flat roof design with a stepped fascia preserves the classic modern lines of the building while incorporating a Zero-Net Energy photovoltaic panel system. From start to finish, the construction is uniformly energy efficient and follows California Build It Green guidelines. Many sustainable finish materials are used on both the interior and exterior, including recycled old growth cedar and pre-fabricated concrete panel siding.

Many West Lafayette homeowners want to change their kitchens, whether because it functions poorly, their tastes have evolved, the kitchen is deteriorating, or they simply want to change.
Tackling several common pain points in their older kitchen, these West Lafayette homeowners approached Riverside Construction with a desire to open up their living area and update all the kitchen amenities including the fixtures, cabinets, and appliances. With peninsula-like counters that were too low, the kitchen also lacked much-needed countertop space. Still yet, the homeowners wanted to add a larger window above the sink to bring in natural light and expand the view of the ravine in the backyard.
Riverside Construction took out the wall separating the living room from the kitchen, and changed the layout (from U-shaped to L-shaped) to create the larger, more functional space our clients were looking for. We swapped the old white cabinetry for new custom Wellborn shaker-style cabinets in a coffee stain and installed a 'City Lights Tokyo' Daltile tile backsplash. The countertops were topped with Giallo Verona granite.
An oversize island was designed into the space to match the new custom cabinetry and provided comfortable seating for five, also eliminating the need for a kitchen table. The old back door was replaced with a large sliding glass door letting in more natural light.
Other highlights of this kitchen remodel include a beautiful Maglia Bronze chandelier that creates a stunning focal point, along with warm and durable Bella Cera Sisters chester engineered hickory hardwood flooring throughout.

Our renovation of a 1930's bungalow focused on opening up the kitchen/dining/living areas to improve flow and connectivity between the spaces. The rustic reclaimed beams help delineate the spaces visually and add texture and warmth. The original white oak floors were refinished with a custom stain to evoke the wood’s natural raw state. We brought color into the space with the ‘blue spruce’ base cabinets and a custom reclaimed island top. The Calacatta gold quartz countertops, hexagon backsplash, and white upper cabinets keep the space feeling light and bright.

The mixture of grey green cabinets with the distressed wood floors and ceilings, gives this farmhouse kitchen a feeling of warmth.
Cabinets: Brookhaven and the color is Green Stone
Benjamin Moore paint color: There's not an exact match for Green Stone, but Gettysburg Grey, HC 107 is close.
Sink: Krauss, model KHF200-30, stainless steel
Faucet: Kraus, modelKPF-1602
Hardware: Restoration hardware, Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron.
Windows: Bloomberg is the manufacturer
the hardware is from Restoration hardware--Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron.
Floors: European Oak that is wired brushed. The company is Provenza, Pompeii collection and the color is Amiata.
Distressed wood: The wood is cedar that's been treated to look distressed! My client is brilliant , so he did some googling (is that a word?) and came across several sites that had a recipe to do just that. He put a steel wool pad into a jar of vinegar and let it sit for a bit. In another jar, he mixed black tea with water. Brush the tea on first and let it dry. Then brush on the steel wool/vinegar (don't forget to strain the wool). Voila, the wood turns dark.

A traditional kitchen with touches of the farmhouse and Mediterranean styles. We used cool, light tones adding pops of color and warmth with natural wood.

We designed a “tree house” suspended above the ground on glued-laminated timber columns supporting two stories, forty feet above the forest floor. Suquamish means “place of clear water”. The care of the land that drove this residence included simple strategies for capturing rain and percolating storm water, minimal excavation and removal of soils, low-impact concrete foundations, and a light structure that captures views of the forest, water, and a distant Seattle skyline to the east.
