Leather Description: This leathers appeal lies in the combination of its disparate qualities: the firm, solid facade of this entirely masculine leather is suddenly met with surprise once its drapey warmth is revealed to the touch. Tanned in Northern Italy on large-scale English bull hides, this leather carries within it the heritage and artisanship of a highly-experienced tannery. This is a leather for and of the ages: it is genuine and earthy and the profound, rich color flickers to the surface through its multiple layers of finishing waxes.
Embossed Leather Description: A leather used to accent many of today's home interiors. The leather hide is first embossed with a large crocodile grain and then colored by applying two base color coats of micro pigments. The leather is then wiped-off to give it a contrast of colors utilizing the base color combination. This color contrast is further accented by two additional top coat colors that are wiped-on by hand to give the leather a beautiful antique look. The last step is to slightly protect the hand work of the leather hide with a lacquer topcoat that provides great depth and warmth to the finished product.
Frame Construction: Using traditional hand craftsmanship with modern manufacturing methods to produce frames that are among the finest used in the upholstery business. Each frame is precisely cut and hand assembled using kilned dried lumber. Double dowels are utilized in all structural parts to form sturdy, long lasting joints. To complete construction and add stability to the frame, large precisely cut corner blocks are positioned at each corner where the greatest stress occurs using both glues and screws.

A large crack and 2-3 inch sag was a clear indicator that the ceiling of this workout room had failed and was in bad need of repair. Once demo had begun, one layer of drywall and two layers of plaster gave a clear indication of why this ceiling had failed.

Adding woodchips underneath your trees has many benefits. Some of these benefits include:
-soil moisture retention
-nutrient leaching when decomposing over time
-smother weeds and invasive plants
But before you add any woodchips to your gardens and trees, it’s important to make sure you aerate the root zone. Doing so improves the oxygen supply and leaching to the roots. You will see more growth when there is more oxygen. Our team at Five Star Tree Services has come up with a guide on how you can use woodchips in your gardens.
Where To Place Woodchips
Even though there are many benefits for your trees, there is a right and wrong way to use them. If used incorrectly, you can actually end up hurting your tree instead of helping it. This can happen when there is an excessive amount piled up around a tree, its roots, and the trunk. Woodchips should never touch the trunk of a tree for extended periods of time. What happens is that moisture is retained in the chips and will eventually cause the tree to rot. The end result is death if not caught in time.
An indication of rot and decay is fruiting bodies or mushrooms. It is important to keep an eye out for these indicators by taking a good look at your trees. To avoid this situation, make sure to evenly and carefully spread out the chips around the root zone. Clear any chips away from the trunk by an inch or two.
When applied correctly; you will see your trees thrive and prosper. They will stay healthy and vivacious from the moisture retention and gradual organic leaching.
Soil Compaction
Soil compaction can dramatically affect your trees. This is often an overlooked issue for many landscapers. Due to things like foot traffic, large amounts of rain, construction, and the use of heavy machinery, are all factors that result in soil compaction. Things like water and nutrients can’t saturate through the soil when it becomes too compact. This results in soil that is without minerals and dry. When this happens, tree roots struggle to push through the soil, resulting in stressed trees.
Preventing Soil Compaction
If a tree is left in compacted soil, it will eventually die. One way to avoid this if you are having any construction done in your yard is to set up a Tree Protection Zone, or TPZ. Fences are used to create a barrier where heavy equipment and machinery can’t go in. When heavy machinery is used, this creates extremely compact soil and has been known to crush roots.
How Five Star Tree Services Can Help
Using woodchips is a great way to help your gardens thrive. But it is vitally important to use it properly, otherwise you will end up hurting your trees, instead of helping them. For the best effect when looking for fabrics to furnish your house, it is best to use fabrics that have varying textures. This is the only way to avoid getting a flat and bland look. When furnishing, consider collecting different types of fabrics and then mixing them until you get a result you find appealing. Do not be afraid of trying out as many fabrics as possible. Remember it is only through carrying out trials that you will be able to identify the right color schemes as well as find what works best for your items or house. Voyage Maison share some tips to make the most of your soft furnishing.
When Choosing Fabrics, Consider Where You Want Them To Go
When selecting a fabric scheme, consider where you want the fabrics to go. If you look at the back of most fabrics, you will find that most manufacturers usually indicate the most suitable area where they should be placed such as on upholstery or for windows. You will also find that most fabrics usually come with labelled with their composition and rubs. Understanding the rubs on a fabric will help you know more about the durability of the material as well as the most suitable areas of use. The number of rubs on a fabric are typically found on little icons on the material or they can be indicated in the form of a number after a Martindale test has been carried out by the manufacturer. The number of rubs is the best way to know how to purpose a fabric. For example: • Fabrics with less than 10,000 rubs are most ideal for decorative uses • Fabrics with between 10,000-15,000 rubs are ideal for light domestic uses • Fabrics with between 15,000-25,000 rubs are ideal for general domestic uses • Fabrics with between 25,000-30,000 rubs are ideal for heavy duty uses When Choosing Fabrics For Furnishing, Consider Their Practicality and Maintenance Needs
It is best that you select your fabrics based on your existing needs while at the same time looking at the care that will be required to keep the material in prime condition. For example, if you have pets and kids, you should go for fabrics that can easily be wiped or cleaned. Most of the fabrics in the market today can be easily cleaned but you should ensure that you specify to your retailer that you need a material that is easy to clean when making a purchase. On finding your fabric of choice, you can also acquire Scotchgard – A strong fabric cover that repels most spills making cleaning of fabrics easier.
When selecting fabrics, you should also consider the orientation of the room where they will be used. This will help you pick the right material of fabric as well as select the right fabric color. For example, if your room has a southern orientation, light will be filtering into the room in such a way that it will not be prudent to use fabrics made of silk material for your cushions and windows.
Tips On How To Accentuate The Appeal Of a Room By Adding Throws & Cushions
In the market, you will find cushions and throws in all shapes, sizes and colors. These fittings can essentially be said to be the cherry on top of the cake when it comes to accentuating the décor in a room. After planning out the furnishings for the rest of the room, cushions and throws can help you brighten up a room and further, they can help you transform it entirely. For example, you can change the look of a room from formal to informal just by selecting the right cushions. You can also transform the look of a room to suit the season at hand, say from summer to winter by simply changing cushions and playing around with the fabric covers. You can also achieve different effects by changing the sizes of cushions and throws in a room. Changing cushions and fabrics to suit different occasions, moods or seasons is a great way to achieve your desired look without breaking the bank.

The family has lived across the country on a medical school journey, and this is the first home they owned. They love to be active outdoors so coming to Minnesota from their home in California, they wanted to better utilize their back yard and limited entertainment space. They wanted the design to incorporate a patio, firepit, bistro lights and bar area.
The homeowners love the use of fun tiles and patterns inside and they were curious if this could be extended to their exterior space. They also loved the cozy feeling of being indoors while spending time outside.

When designing this kitchen update and addition, Phase One had to keep function and style top of mind, all the time. The homeowners are masters in the kitchen and also wanted to highlight the great outdoors and the future location of their pool, so adding window banks were paramount, especially over the sink counter. The bathrooms renovations were hardly a second thought to the kitchen; one focuses on a large shower while the other, a stately bathtub, complete with frosted glass windows Stylistic details such as a bright red sliding door, and a hand selected fireplace mantle from the mountains were key indicators of the homeowners trend guidelines. Storage was also very important to the client and the home is now outfitted with 12.

Situated on a sweeping Texas Hill Country meadow, this private residence is defined by a series of jagged roof peaks inspired by the rise and fall of the surrounding hills.
The exterior of the home is defined by clean lines, a sculptural gable roof, and a contrasting material palette of corrugated aluminum and warm, locally-sourced cypress. While indicative of the clients’ modest budget, the materials also evoke the residence’s rural setting.

The bones of this 1908 Glen Park home had been compromised by years and years of awkward remodels. The front door led directly to the private bedroom level, while the public gathering spaces were one-level down, with the main staircase nearly dropping you into the existing kitchen. Potentially spectacular views of an existing mature redwood tree and broad city views beyond were entirely ignored and inaccessible.
We first unraveled the knot of the plan with a new split-level entryway and connecting stair. We then opened up the rear of the home to the views, using the huge backyard conifer as design inspiration for a perforated steel guardrail connecting the new interior and exterior space seamlessly. A lower expansion connects the home to the yard and alleyway garage entry.
The Pinales House is indicative of the scale of remodel many young families can consider; a scale at which strategic design choices are key to discovering the unrealized potential of the home and site.
