Our client wanted an entertainment center/computer station combination design. The challenge was to house the TV and components while also providing space for one to two computer monitors and file storage which could be hidden when not in use. They wanted to be able to watch television while working at the computer. Custom elements include two fold down desks with grey inset leather, flip up doors that house the computer and monitors, four large pull-out file drawers, and louvered door cabinet which houses their subwoofer. The coffee bar was nestled into a small nook and had a step blocking part of the space. We elongated the lower cabinet face frame to accommodate the step so our client did not lose any storage space.

This Bank Executive / Mom works full time from home. Accounting for this way of life, we began the office design by analyzing the space to accommodate for this individual’s workload and lifestyle. The office nook remains integrated within the rest of the household, with “tweenaged” boys afoot. Still sequestered upstairs, Mom fulfills her role as a professional, while keeping an ear on the household activities. We designed this space with ample lighting both natural and artificial, sufficient closed and open shelving, and supplies cupboards, with drawers and file cabinets. This 1933 Wauwatosa basement was dark, dingy and lacked functionality. The basement was unfinished with concrete walls and floors. A small office was enclosed but the rest of the space was open and cluttered. The homeowners wanted a warm, organized space for their family. A recent job change meant they needed a dedicated home office. They also wanted a place where their kids could hang out with friends. Their wish list for this basement remodel included: a home office where the couple could both work, a full bathroom, a cozy living room and a dedicated storage room. This basement renovation resulted in a warm and bright space that is used by the whole family. Highlights of this basement: - Home Office: A new office gives the couple a dedicated space for work. There’s plenty of desk space, storage cabinets, under-shelf lighting and storage for their home library. - Living Room: An old office area was expanded into a cozy living room. It’s the perfect place for their kids to hang out when they host friends and family. - Laundry Room: The new laundry room is a total upgrade. It now includes fun laminate flooring, storage cabinets and counter space for folding laundry. - Full Bathroom: A new bathroom gives the family an additional shower in the home. Highlights of the bathroom include a navy vanity, quartz counters, brass finishes, a Dreamline shower door and Kohler Choreograph wall panels. - Staircase: We spruced up the staircase leading down to the lower level with patterned vinyl flooring and a matching trim color. - Storage: We gave them a separate storage space, with custom shelving for organizing their camping gear, sports equipment and holiday decorations. Each Master Suite provides a king size bed, private bathroom, private deck, fireplace, microwave, utility fridge, built in computer desk and storage, and a large flat screen

The master bedroom features a tray ceiling with bedside pendant lights on independent controls. The client’s existing bed was updated with crisp modern bedding. Wall molding was installed behind the bed to add texture and highlight the room’s symmetry. Power to a new computer nook was added, which is softened by bold striped curtains. The master bedroom fireplace was also updated with a white marble surround, fire glass, and a flat screen television. A metallic finished ceiling adds to the coziness of the space, along with new carpeting. A collaborative art installation between the designer and Lafayette artist Christopher LaBauve features recycled aluminum cans hand cut into butterflies and mounted by aluminum wire. Painted the same dense gray color of the walls, each butterfly was carefully placed to reflect its own shadow.
