This perfect antique, seaside home badly needed a bathroom update. We have been talking with the clients for years about how to approach the tiny space. The space limitations were solved by using a linear floor drain, glass panel, rear exit toilet, in-wall tank, and Runtel radiator/towel warmer. Master bathroom is focused on a Badeloft vessel bath with Graff freestanding filler. The floor is porcelain tile, the custom glass framed enclosure windows are by Fleetwood with operable lower windows for natural flow through ventilation. In the ceiling you can see the slots for recessed Lutron roller shades that can shade the interior. On this hilly gated community site, privacy is not a concern. Our clients for this remodel of a 100 year old home in San Francisco’s Liberty Hill neighborhood recently moved to San Francisco. The house they purchased was very stately and had great bones, but lacked a true master suite and had recently been remodeled in a slightly generic modern style. We helped them with projects throughout the house. Our biggest project was creating a true master suite out of two bedrooms and an existing bathroom. We created an open concept bathroom with custom gray lacquer wardrobes and shoe storage units with a dramatic slot skylight overhead. Access to the master bedroom is through this room. The clean lines of the bathroom are complimented by a very long wall hung vanity with a CaesarStone counter which flows into the walk-in shower and becomes the curb. A variety of tiles including locally fabricated tile from Heath Ceramics were carefully selected to create a warm and inviting, yet modern, feeling. Oak floors similar to those in the rest of the house were used throughout the master suite for continuity. By using the same tile on the back wall of the bathroom we were able to create a visual unity from the shower through the vanity and the water closet. Hammer & Hand and architect Mitch Snyder transformed a hot, cramped, non-code-compliant attic space into a bright and functional master suite. The existing upstairs attic space had two small and hard-to-access bedrooms and a dangerous staircase. The team added a new dormer on the west side of the house which added an additional 195 square feet to the home. The new space includes a master bedroom, master bathroom with vanity and shower, separate water closet, laundry, walk-in master closet, and option to add a small bedroom (the space is currently being used as an open office area). Mid-sized minimalist master gray tile and glass tile porcelain tile freestanding bathtub photo in Atlanta with an undermount sink, shaker cabinets, white cabinets, marble countertops, a one-piece toilet and gray walls

Working with a very small footprint we did everything to maximize the space in this master bathroom. Removing the original door to the bathroom, we widened the opening to 48" and used a sliding frosted glass door to let in additional light and prevent the door from blocking the only window in the bathroom. Removing the original single vanity and bumping out the shower into a hallway shelving space, the shower gained two feet of depth and the owners now each have their own vanities!
