The clients called me in to help with finishing details on their kitchen remodel. They had already decided to do a lot of the work themselves and also decided on a cabinet company. I came into the project early enough to see a better layout to the original kitchen, then i was able to give my clients better options to choose from on the flow and aesthetics of the space. They already had an existing island but no sink, the refrigerator was an awkward walk away from the work space. We panned with everything moving and a much better flow was created, more storage than needed..that's always a good problem to have! Multiple storage drawers under the range, roll out trash, appliance garage for the coffee maker and much more. This was my first time working with non custom cabinets, it turned out wonderful with all the bells and whistles a dream kitchen should have.

Stylish brewery owners with airline miles that match George Clooney’s decided to hire Regan Baker Design to transform their beloved Duboce Park second home into an organic modern oasis reflecting their modern aesthetic and sustainable, green conscience lifestyle. From hops to floors, we worked extensively with our design savvy clients to provide a new footprint for their kitchen, dining and living room area, redesigned three bathrooms, reconfigured and designed the master suite, and replaced an existing spiral staircase with a new modern, steel staircase. We collaborated with an architect to expedite the permit process, as well as hired a structural engineer to help with the new loads from removing the stairs and load bearing walls in the kitchen and Master bedroom. We also used LED light fixtures, FSC certified cabinetry and low VOC paint finishes. Regan Baker Design was responsible for the overall schematics, design development, construction documentation, construction administration, as well as the selection and procurement of all fixtures, cabinets, equipment, furniture,and accessories. By implementing a combination of streamlined fixtures and furniture-like pieces, Weiss and Carpenter have come up with a solution that is chic and sophisticated. While the back side of the island houses the matching cabinetry of the rest of the kitchen, the front is made up of an antique apothecary cabinet that the couple discovered through Weisshouse. Kitchen - contemporary kitchen idea in Miami

A former summer camp, this site came with a unique set of challenges. An existing 1200 square foot cabin was perched on the shore of Thorndike Pond, well within the current required setbacks. Three additional outbuildings were part of the property, each of them small and non-conforming. By limiting reconstruction to the existing footprints we were able to gain planning consent to rebuild each structure. A full second story added much needed space to the main house. Two of the outbuildings have been rebuilt to accommodate guests, maintaining the spirit of the original camp. Black stained exteriors help the buildings blend into the landscape. Modern Entry

Redwood Builders had the pleasure of working with leading SF based architects Seth and Melissa Hanley of Design Blitz to create a sleek and modern backyard "Shudio" structure. Located in their backyard in Sebastopol, the Shudio replaced a falling-down potting shed and brings the best of his-and-hers space planning: a painting studio for her and a beer brewing shed for him. During their frequent backyard parties (which often host more than 90 guests) the Shudio transforms into a bar with easy through traffic and a built in keg-orator. The finishes are simple with the primary surface being charcoal painted T111 with accents of western red cedar and a white washed ash plywood interior. The sliding barn doors and trim are constructed of California redwood. The trellis with its varied pattern creates a shadow pattern that changes throughout the day. The trellis helps to enclose the informal patio (decomposed granite) and provide privacy from neighboring properties. Existing mature rhododendrons were prioritized in the design and protected in place where possible.

Napa, CA residence, adjacent to a steep rock hillside. My design solutions included a contemporary redwood horizontal fence to help screen the view of the hillside along with arbors for vines that help to break up the long narrow space. I designed a triangular-shaped pergola with decorative panels from "Parasoleil" that serves as an artful focal point while providing interesting shade patterns that casts its delightful shadow along fence and patio and bench below, changing its position as the sun moves throughout the day. The landscape design includes angular planting beds, concrete pavers surrounded by gravel and a small lower-water lawn for the family to enjoy. When this Mattawan family moved into their new home it came with an unappealing, non-functional fountain. In a bargain with their 4-year old, the family decided a koi pond would replace their time consuming, high-maintenance indoor aquarium. We were able to replace their existing unsightly fountain with a small lower maintenance koi pond and waterfall.

Design ideas for an eclectic landscaping in Los Angeles.

This furniture arrangement is used for space saving reasons. The table is angled on the diagonal, not only just for esthetic reasons but for several practical reasons. Due to the limited space in front of the breakfast bar, placing on the diagonal allows for more room for the counter stools. The bench seat for two appears to be non-existent giving the illusion there is more space than there really is.
