To update this traditional Atlanta home, Pineapple House designers bring harmony to the interior architecture with color. They renovate the residence so it is more conducive to comfort, entertaining and their pets. In the keeping room, they replaced the vaulted ceiling with a 13’ high coffered ceiling. They pay special attention to the clients two dogs, and integrate them into the living situation with a number of elements, like the dog kennel that they incorporate under the banquette on the right side of the room.

The keeping room is accented with two amethyst wing chairs. The chevron pattern on the window treatments has a horizontal impact that encourages the eye to sweep across the room.

The chaise lounge chairs are on powder-coated aluminum frames with Batylene mesh outdoor technical fabric. The two club chairs are an all-weather wicker intricately hand woven in a checkerboard pattern. The palms that flank the tanning ledge are integrated into the pool surround. Their natural shape helps soften the feel of the massive, innately hard surfaces of the pool area.

This kitchen had no windows so Pineapple House designers removed the hallway-kitchen, kitchen-dining and kitchen-living walls to gain a view/air/natural light. Pineapple House designed a window-like partition between the kitchen and foyer entry for both structural support/visual separation. The kitchen walls glisten with luminous mother-of-pearl miniature tiles.

The central lanai outside the great room includes four swivel chairs for views in multiple directions and a bed swing, perfect for lazy afternoon naps. To the far right, the lanai outside the master completes the trio of al fresco spaces. The covered lanais significantly reduce solar gain before it penetrates the home, and screens, when deployed, serve as additional buffers against heat.

With an outstanding view of the pool and the wetlands, the great room is purposely void of a television. To the left, a stone fireplace is featured against a massive wall with display shelves and a floor-to-ceiling column of touch-latch storage. This stained wall is a wonderful exhibit of rift sawn lumber, which is milled perpendicular to the growth rings, yielding a tight, linear grain with no flecking.

Do you see it? Hidden behind doors that look like cabinetry (when closed) is a generous walk-in pantry.

Limestone brackets support a rough-hewn wood drink shelf in the game room niche, which is recessed to accommodate game stools for pool players. The fixture over the pool table is reclaimed tin.

On the far left of the windows, a new sliding glass door has replaced a set of windows that formed the bay. The designers wanted to grant immediate access to the home's most central deck, so they replaced the window area with the doors. They allow the homeowner to easily grill for the family and provides more roaming room for the pets. When open, it creates cross ventilation with the family/keeping room's doors when they are stacked back.

Two lanais flank the pool. Most views incorporate the luxurious whirlpool spa that waterfalls into a sumptuous infinity pool whose corners are adorned with fire and water features. The breathtaking waterfront views complete the post-card perfect picture.

Pineapple House designers removed the sliding glass doors separating the master from the lanai, adding custom glassed pocket doors to the configuration. They reconfigured the master, master bath and master closet entrances and walls to bring more fresh air and light into the suite. Window treatments, both in the bedroom and on the lanai, give privacy options as they provide solar and sound control.
