Designed by Bryan Anderson This kitchen renovation was driven by a desire to create a space for semi-formal dining in a small eat-in kitchen. By removing an imposing central island with range, and expanding a perimeter dropped soffit, we created a well-proportioned space in which to center a table for gathering. The expanded soffit cleaned up awkward angles at the ceiling and implies a thickness to the wall from which the kitchen is carved out. Small, flexible appliances enable full cooking potential, and modular cabinets provide highly functional features in minimal space. Ebony stained base cabinets recede, white-washed upper cabinets and panels reflect light, large-format ceramic counters and backsplash withstand culinary abuse, European oak flooring and accents provide warmth, and all combine under a ceiling of metallic paper to envelop users and guests in functional comfort. Industrial transitional English style kitchen. The addition and remodeling were designed to keep the outdoors inside. Replaced the uppers and prioritized windows connected to key parts of the backyard and having open shelvings with walnut and brass details. Custom dark cabinets made locally. Designed to maximize the storage and performance of a growing family and host big gatherings. The large island was a key goal of the homeowners with the abundant seating and the custom booth opposite to the range area. The booth was custom built to match the client's favorite dinner spot. In addition, we created a more New England style mudroom in connection with the patio. And also a full pantry with a coffee station and pocket doors.

2011 NARI CAPITAL COTY MERIT AWARD WINNER; 2012 QUALIFIED REMODELER MASTER DESIGN AWARD This 1950 brick colonial featured a floor plan typical of homes of that era--small boxy rooms, each separated by four walls. The young couple who owned the home loved its potential, but needed more space. The main goal of this project was to create a seamless and open floor plan on the first floor, adding a family room and enlarging the kitchen. A master bedroom and bathroom suite were planned to make better use of the second level. To accomplish these goals, a 20’ x 20’ two-story addition was designed by Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes. The new expanded kitchen and family room features limestone floors, a new gas fireplace surrounded with built-ins and glass stone hearth to complement the kitchen countertops and backsplash. Use of espresso colored cabinetry topped by a light granite countertop with brown veins running through it is one of the decorative touches that make this project stunning. The large middle island which consists of a second sink, wine chiller and seating space is another bonus point of this kitchen. Commercial quality appliances assure gourmet cooking at its finest. Large first floor windows face the home’s new flagstone patio, which can be accessed via a French door. The second floor consists of the master bedroom with a sitting area , French doors leading into a French balcony facing back yard, double-sided stoned gas fireplace (between the bedroom and master bath) and a cathedral ceiling. The master bathroom features a large steam shower, body sprays and rain shower, a large double person Jacuzzi, tumbled marble floor and wall tiles with accents. The use of wide plank exotic tiger wood has beautified this master suite. Keeping the homeowners’ contemporary style in mind and achieving their wishes has transformed this old 1950 colonial into a fully functional 21st Century dream home.

This young family gave us the joint task of creating a pool house and outdoor living in a very tight and limited space, between a retaining wall and their existing home. Additionally, the pool and spa as well as the pool house and kitchen had to incorporate cutting edge technology. The style of the pool house was dictated by the main house. We were tasked with complementing it in style and material. The pool house not only must function on its own, but also as a transitional structure to the absolutely fabulous landscaping provided by an internationally acclaimed landscape designer. Mirrors on the back wall reflect the beautiful landscaping. One is never without a view of the exterior. The front façade of the pool house has accordion glass panels that open up to amazing views of the swimming pool, spa and gardens. The spa is on axis with the center of the pool house, and the pergola and gate entrance with piers share the same materials as the pool house. The spa features a waterfall and has sea foam glass tile. There is also a waterfall in the pool and both waterfalls serve to mask surrounding noises and provide an idyllic setting. Sophisticated technology operates features of the pool house via remote control demands, and includes a drop down screen for movie and television viewing from the swimming pool. The pool house includes the outdoor kitchen, open dining area, the bar, seating area, a bathroom and changing room. Hidden in the alcove is an open air outdoor shower. The patterning of the boards applied horizontally to the interior walls and painted white give the structure a nautical look, provide durability and protect it from the elements. The interior vault is clad with stained bead board.

The winding walkway from the house down to the lake's break wall is decorated with large boulders and perennial plants for both beauty and erosion control. Showcased in this project is a “Lakeside Landscape” created for a homeowner who purchased an old vacant lot on the banks of Lake Erie on the near west side of Cleveland. The lot was attractive given its location and potential for lakeside access, yet it presented some major challenges. First and foremost, the lay of the land was unfavorable, dropping 50 feet from the front of the house to the lake in just 175 linear feet. Erosion wasn’t the only concern in this case, as the space also needed to be functional. The result was over 1300 tons of locally-mined sandstone top rock and a strategic placement of each boulder to create a winding grass path to the lake and tiered entertaining spaces. One such space serves as a natural bluestone patio for unparalleled views of the lake, complimented by a decorative fountain sculpted by a local artist. The lower space is used as a secluded fire pit carved into the hillside with a bench overlooking the western horizon to catch the spectacular Lake Erie sunsets. The addition of 34 natural sandstone steps from the top patio to a reinforced concrete break wall meanders through a landscape with over 625 flowering trees, shrubs and perennials. Below the surface is a series of drains, tile, low-voltage lighting, and irrigation, all designed to maximize every square foot of usable space. What began as a cliff ended as a unique lakeside living space used for recreation, entertaining, and more importantly, as a retreat for family and friends alike.

Eventually, they made the decision and embarked on a journey to create the home they had been searching for—right where they lived. Situated in the wooded hills of Orinda lies an old home with great potential. Ridgecrest Designs turned an outdated kitchen into a jaw-dropping space fit for a contemporary art gallery. To give an artistic urban feel we commissioned a local artist to paint a textured "warehouse wall" on the tallest wall of the kitchen. Four skylights allow natural light to shine down and highlight the warehouse wall. Bright white glossy cabinets with hints of white oak and black accents pop on a light landscape. Real Turkish limestone covers the floor in a random pattern for an old-world look in an otherwise ultra-modern space.
