This reimagined 1927 Spanish Revival home is a celebration of thoughtful and meticulous design. The kitchen, a true centerpiece of the transformation, seamlessly blends modernity with the home's historic charm.
The design story begins with the exquisite teal backsplash tile, a striking focal point that draws inspiration from the color of the exterior trim. This intentional choice creates a harmonious connection between the interior and exterior, showcasing the designer's attention to detail. The expanded opening between the dining room and kitchen not only enhances the spatial flow but also reflects a modern sensibility, making the home more open and inviting.
The integration of new hardwood flooring, precisely matched to the original wood, speaks to the commitment to preserving the home's character while introducing fresh elements. Modern appliances and sleek plumbing fixtures are carefully chosen to complement the aesthetic without overpowering it. The custom cabinetry is both beautiful and functional, featuring innovative built-ins like a mixer-lift, spice drawer, and pull-outs designed to maximize usability and storage.
Every element of this kitchen was designed with purpose, blending historic beauty with contemporary needs. It's a space where the art of design truly shines, offering a timeless yet modern ambiance for both everyday living and special gatherings. This kitchen isn't just a place to cook—it's a testament to the power of thoughtful design.

Our clients were expecting their first child and needed to make room. They decided to convert their existing master bedroom into a nursery and create a peaceful retreat for themselves by building an addition off the back of their home. Our journey together began with detailed planning, working closely with the architect to design a master bedroom suite that would offer comfort and functionality. Every aspect, from the room's layout to the bathroom's design, was carefully considered.
Budgeting was the next crucial step. We worked closely with our expectant clients to select high-quality materials while keeping costs within reach, ensuring the project stayed on track financially.
Construction started by preparing the site and laying a solid foundation. The team then moved on to framing the walls and installing plenty of windows to create a private wooded bedroom retreat. We added skylights to the beautiful vaulted ceiling so the couple could lie in bed and view the night sky. Attention to detail was paramount throughout the process.
Finally, the finishing touches brought the vision to life. An en suite, curbless shower, custom interior doors, paint, and luxury vinyl plank flooring were installed precisely as planned.
The new master bedroom suite provided the perfect sanctuary for the growing family.

San Francisco Design helped their client achieve his goal of a textural space with Floor to Ceiling Texture. Our Onda2 pattern finished in white paint is precisely what they needed. With a wall covered in windows, white Onda2 reflects enough light to create a central focus on texture and will enhance other textural elements like textiles and fabrics.

Our clients wanted to increase the size of their kitchen, which was small, in comparison to the overall size of the home. They wanted a more open livable space for the family to be able to hang out downstairs. They wanted to remove the walls downstairs in the front formal living and den making them a new large den/entering room. They also wanted to remove the powder and laundry room from the center of the kitchen, giving them more functional space in the kitchen that was completely opened up to their den. The addition was planned to be one story with a bedroom/game room (flex space), laundry room, bathroom (to serve as the on-suite to the bedroom and pool bath), and storage closet. They also wanted a larger sliding door leading out to the pool.
We demoed the entire kitchen, including the laundry room and powder bath that were in the center! The wall between the den and formal living was removed, completely opening up that space to the entry of the house. A small space was separated out from the main den area, creating a flex space for them to become a home office, sitting area, or reading nook. A beautiful fireplace was added, surrounded with slate ledger, flanked with built-in bookcases creating a focal point to the den. Behind this main open living area, is the addition. When the addition is not being utilized as a guest room, it serves as a game room for their two young boys. There is a large closet in there great for toys or additional storage. A full bath was added, which is connected to the bedroom, but also opens to the hallway so that it can be used for the pool bath.
The new laundry room is a dream come true! Not only does it have room for cabinets, but it also has space for a much-needed extra refrigerator. There is also a closet inside the laundry room for additional storage. This first-floor addition has greatly enhanced the functionality of this family’s daily lives. Previously, there was essentially only one small space for them to hang out downstairs, making it impossible for more than one conversation to be had. Now, the kids can be playing air hockey, video games, or roughhousing in the game room, while the adults can be enjoying TV in the den or cooking in the kitchen, without interruption! While living through a remodel might not be easy, the outcome definitely outweighs the struggles throughout the process.
