The stunning structure was carefully crafted for full-time residency in a community tucked away in North Carolina’s High Country. Rustic Mountain Residence is a 1,999 square foot home complete with three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and a two-car garage. The home’s exterior was designed with an architectural shingle roof displaying metal accents, natural stone veneer, cypress, and nickel gap siding. The meticulous attention to detail and design is evident in the exterior, including gorgeous bark accents and stark black painted windows and soffit. Inside the residence, tongue and groove ceilings, pine hardwood flooring, canned lighting, and shadowbox trim were used on all doors and windows. Noteworthy features on the main level include a sliding barn door in the powder room and reclaimed barnwood accent walls in the dining space. The great room offers a grand and warm living space with windows peering into the expansive mountain vistas, a natural stone gas fireplace, and an open concept with a view into the kitchen. The kitchen represents the quintessence of Rustic Mountain Residence by showcasing an exquisite, hammered copper sink, large subway tile backsplash, and custom cabinets. Before and afters at Susan's. I promise a complete story once the custom glass shower door is installed but it's nice to look at photos along with the video. Their is a lot here to talk about. The project started as part of a five year'ish plan to downsize. Susan wanted something that would help resale value without over-improving, but also wanted to enjoy her Bathroom while still there. That meant classic white. I noticed immediately that their was enough space to add a double vanity. That's huge in a Master Bath. The two, large, beveled frameless mirrors add depth and light, while larger floor tiles makes the space [though you can't tell from these photos] seem much larger. Susan really liked her original light gray walls so we kept them. They do harmonize with the marble finishes and that tiny toilet was replaced with a Koehler Cimarron comfort height with water sense technology. I like the Cimarron for its value and interchangeable style. It also has a great flush. The bathroom also had a tiny window at an odd height that bothered me, so I suggested replacing it with a larger window, which also adds more light and helps to make the bathroom appear larger. Susan wanted a simple shade for privacy. Here we used a Graber faux silk pleated shade with bottom up top down. Let's not forget the cherry on the top, the stunning Herringbone Marble Shower that replaced a dated and small, fiberglass shower surrounded. The client wanted the feel of the Texas Hill Country while living in the big City of Houston. Extremely large boulders were set in place carefully for soil retention on this extremely elevated lot. The natural stone can freely move and shift to the whim of the 75 year old live oak tree. No more cracked sidewalks and mortared retaining walls here to nullify costly repairs. Succulents fill small voids in the boulder wall. The drift roses add color along the edge. The main staircase is made from natural cut stone and the smaller second staircase off of the driveway ascend to a flagstone path filled with free spirited chocolate mint as a ground cover.
