Q: Tell us about the role of flooring in your opinion. A: The floor is one of the foundational components of every home and I work hard to find the right product in terms of material, tone and finish and everything that goes with that selection. There have been very few high quality pre-finished flooring products available that we are comfortable recommending. Since the common use of site-finished flooring ended, we have never been even close to being satisfied with the options available in the market for pre-finished flooring –until we found CRAFT anyway.

The three-level Mediterranean revival home started as a 1930s summer cottage that expanded downward and upward over time. We used a clean, crisp white wall plaster with bronze hardware throughout the interiors to give the house continuity. A neutral color palette and minimalist furnishings create a sense of calm restraint. Subtle and nuanced textures and variations in tints add visual interest. The stair risers from the living room to the primary suite are hand-painted terra cotta tile in gray and off-white. We used the same tile resource in the kitchen for the island's toe kick.

Its embossed surface gives it a textured, authentic feel while the secure locking system allows for easy and resilient installation. This double bath renovation was done after the client's children left for college and both bathrooms needed some attention. These bathrooms were designed with a modern aesthetic and interpreted through a warm lens. I researched, selected and recommended the design direction of each bath so that they related but the two still had their own feel. We used high end plumbing and cabinetry throughout.
