This Master Bathroom remodel removed some framing and drywall above and at the sides of the shower opening to enlarge the shower entry and provide a breathtaking view to the exotic polished porcelain marble tile in a 24 x 48 size used inside. The sliced stone used as vertical accent was hand placed by the tile installer to eliminate the tile outlines sometimes seen in lesser quality installations. The agate design glass tiles used as the backsplash and mirror surround delight the eye. The warm brown griege cabinetry have custom designed drawer interiors to work around the plumbing underneath. Floating vanities add visual space to the room. The dark brown in the herringbone shower floor is repeated in the master bedroom wood flooring coloring so that the entire master suite flows.

To maximize the look of this fairly compact bathroom, we added large white 12x24 rectangular wall tile in the shower to expand the space visually, with an added band of vintage style penny tile fully wrapping around and inside the shower, in effort of creating the look of a larger space. For the shampoo niche, hex tile was added for visual contrast, which is also repeated on the shower floor.

A Miele hood and range are accented by a waterfall pattern of glass tile set in larger 17” X 26” Silk Verde tiles. The waterfall pattern is repeated throughout the kitchen to add visual continuity to the room.

The patterned floor tile was repeated on the Laundry Room backsplash. White wainscoting in the stairwell is functional and creates visual interest

One of the best ways to have rooms with an open floor plan to flow is to bring some of the same textures such as wood into each room. These wood ceiling beams correspond with the wood kitchen island giving it a great flow.

This early 90's contemporary home was in need of some major updates and when my clients purchased it they were ready to make it their own. The home features large open rooms, great natural light and stunning views of Lake Washington. These clients love bold vibrant colors and clean modern lines so the goal was to incorporate those in the design without it overwhelming the space. Balance was key. The end goal was for the home to feel open and airy yet warm and inviting. This was achieved by bringing in punches of color to an otherwise white or neutral palate. Texture and visual interest were achieved throughout the house through the use of wallpaper, fabrics, and a few one of a kind artworks.

We designed a the custom fireplace surround and added shallow depth ceiling beams that help draw the visual lines towards it. Blue was chose by the client as their preferred accent color and you can see the color repeatedly used throughout the interiors.

Designer Sarah Robertson of Studio Dearborn helped a neighbor and friend to update a “builder grade” kitchen into a personal, family space that feels luxurious and inviting.
The homeowner wanted to solve a number of storage and flow problems in the kitchen, including a wasted area dedicated to a desk, too-little pantry storage, and her wish for a kitchen bar. The all white builder kitchen lacked character, and the client wanted to inject color, texture and personality into the kitchen while keeping it classic.
