This creative transitional space was transformed from a very dated layout that did not function well for our homeowners - who enjoy cooking for both their family and friends. They found themselves cooking on a 30" by 36" tiny island in an area that had much more potential. A completely new floor plan was in order. An unnecessary hallway was removed to create additional space and a new traffic pattern. New doorways were created for access from the garage and to the laundry. Just a couple of highlights in this all Thermador appliance professional kitchen are the 10 ft island with two dishwashers (also note the heated tile area on the functional side of the island), double floor to ceiling pull-out pantries flanking the refrigerator, stylish soffited area at the range complete with burnished steel, niches and shelving for storage. Contemporary organic pendants add another unique texture to this beautiful, welcoming, one of a kind kitchen! Photos by David Cobb Photography.

This new house respectfully steps back from the adjacent wetland. The roof line slopes up to the south to allow maximum sunshine in the winter months. Deciduous trees to the south were maintained and provide summer shade along with the home’s generous overhangs. Our signature warm modern vibe is made with vertical cedar accents that complement the warm grey metal siding. The building floor plan undulates along its south side to maximize views of the woodland garden.

Our client’s desire was to have a country retreat that would be large enough to accommodate their sizable family and groups of friends. This primary space is an open plan which includes the kitchen, dining and living room central to the home. The architecture is modern but respectful of the natural surroundings.

This entry’s design was inspired by the feel of an 12th century English manor.
• This home has a very personal meaning for the designer as the clients are friends they have worked with for over twenty years. The home design comes from a classic English country manor style with a few updates to accommodate the homeowner’s preferences.
• The years they have known each other gave the designer the opportunity to understand their taste and needs. This home is truly a reflection of the owner’s lives.
• The interior design was influenced by respecting the homeowner’s collection of furnishings and adding new art plus lots of color. The stair railings are a reference to classic English design and custom made.
• The most outstanding special feature was created in the entry, a small door for children to enter under the stairs was trompe-l'oeil. The small door now appears as a large antique door with small windows featuring the owner’s dogs.
• A dog friendly home with a large welcome mat to friends and family is perfect for entertaining and relaxing in the warm and enchanting house.
• The cabinets, floors and lighting were selected for durable use and worked to integrate the home’s history. Special lighting was added to illustrate the many pieces of art.
• More than a house; this is a place to call home. For complete tour: http://epprighthomes.com/videos/12th-century-manor-house/

A magnificent rooms needs a magnificent window treatment. In order to do it respect, we added a fun and special touch: the center medallion. The medallion was actually found in the decorator's supply house and was made in a special material so wood could be applied to the back of it to be mounted. They came unfinished, so they were painted with gold leaf and then were mounted.
We mounted different swags and jabots to boards behind the medallion and added crystal fringe along the swags and jabots, as well as a contrast stripe fabric inside of the jabots for special interest.
Because it's a bedroom, we added Duette Architella PowerView shades that are motorized to give full privacy and light control.
