Inspiration for a transitional bathroom remodel in San Francisco

The client instantly fell in love with this lovely floor tile. The marble has beautiful exaggerated curves that are highly expressive. The mesmerizing swirls of this tile pattern stands alone as a work of art.

This kitchen is truly one of a kind! The hand-formed hood and rustic table island are anchor statements in this unique and tastefully designed kitchen - which completely reflect the style of this young suburban family. The homeowner, a confessed Francophile, takes her love of all things French to another level. The combination of colors and textures provides a restful and beautiful environment, and brings to mind long walks in Provence surrounded by a flurry of lavender. Project specs: Premier Custom-Built cabinets, antique white perimeter cabinets, island is fumed oak with a brushed texture. Island Countertop is hammered zinc with an integrated zinc sink. Rocky Mountain faucet, Ann Sacks tile. Wide plank oak floor by Apex Wood Floors. Perimeter countertops are limestone. Sub Zero 48” built in refrigerator and Wolf 48” range. Plumbing supply and waste pipes are sleeved with bronze pipes to match Rocky Mountain faucet finish. Hammered Zinc counter top and sink.

Location: Spring Lake, NJ, US Our design goal for this renovation and addition was to present a modern interpretation of Colonial Plantation Style. This home features dark wood floors, wood paneling and a light soothing color scheme. The Dining Room features classic silk De Gournay Wallpaper which further fuses the indoor and outdoor seamlessness of the home. The amazing tile installations permeate the decor with color, texture and pattern. The shaker-style kitchen is refreshed by using black cabinetry, a custom stainless hood and La Cornue Range. We enjoyed adding vintage finds throughout - a farm table for the Kitchen, Bergere chairs in the Entry, and a Victorian Flower mirror in the Powder Room. threshold interiors ensures that your beach retreat is elegant, transitional and most importantly comfortable and relaxing! Photo: Ema Peter This 1,110 square foot loft in Vancouver’s Crosstown neighbourhood was completely renovated for a young professional couple splitting their time between Vancouver and New York.

We transformed this room from an outdated southwest style space to this elegant Spanish style living room. The fireplace was redesigned and an arched passage to the dining was added to better define the spaces. The balance of materials that help create this space are the old world terra cotta tiles, smooth plaster walls, hand carved stone fireplace and rough wood stained ceiling. The guest bathroom's focal point is the dynamic black and white geometric patterned tile. The vanity is black and the hardware, faucets, mirror and sconce are all in matte brass. The vanity is topped with quartz. The shower has large matte white tiles we ran in a stacked pattern and we lined the back of the shampoo niche with floor tile for greater interest.

The plank tile floors are set over an infloor heating system. The tiles were laid in a herringbone pattern and dark grout was used to bring in a feeling of history to this space. Then by playing with the dividers in the built in bookcases and keeping very clean lines on the windows they style of the basement feels like a modern update on a classic style. This home in the upscale Dominion area was completely transformed from an outdated rustic interior to a fresh and modern space! The kitchen has an upgraded island with Taj Mahal waterfall panels and mitered edges, similar to the rest of the kitchen Taj Mahal quartzite countertops and backsplash. The existing perimeter cabinets in the kitchen were painted a classic white lacquer finish. A new dual finish Blue Star vent hood was installed, along with gorgeous matching brass knobs and faucets. The kitchen flooring is white oak herringbone pattern hardwood which flows throughout the house. The entryway has a brand new iron pivot door making for a seamless transition into the home. This homeowner's guest bathroom was completely gutted and replaced with a quartz countertop, wainscoting dolomite tile on bathroom walls, and mother of pearl floor tile. The connecting guest bedroom was completely repainted and given a brand new look with bright blue and white wallpaper. The powder room is to die for, with gold and black accents, a gorgeous new moss green vanity, and a black quartzite countertop with an golden under-mount sink. Lastly, we completed the home bar area, installing a antiqued backsplash and custom lit floating shelves, perfect for keeping the homeowner's liquor of choice. It's 5 o'clock somewhere!

This 1930's Barrington Hills farmhouse was in need of some TLC when it was purchased by this southern family of five who planned to make it their new home. The renovation taken on by Advance Design Studio's designer Scott Christensen and master carpenter Justin Davis included a custom porch, custom built in cabinetry in the living room and children's bedrooms, 2 children's on-suite baths, a guest powder room, a fabulous new master bath with custom closet and makeup area, a new upstairs laundry room, a workout basement, a mud room, new flooring and custom wainscot stairs with planked walls and ceilings throughout the home. The home's original mechanicals were in dire need of updating, so HVAC, plumbing and electrical were all replaced with newer materials and equipment. A dramatic change to the exterior took place with the addition of a quaint standing seam metal roofed farmhouse porch perfect for sipping lemonade on a lazy hot summer day. In addition to the changes to the home, a guest house on the property underwent a major transformation as well. Newly outfitted with updated gas and electric, a new stacking washer/dryer space was created along with an updated bath complete with a glass enclosed shower, something the bath did not previously have. A beautiful kitchenette with ample cabinetry space, refrigeration and a sink was transformed as well to provide all the comforts of home for guests visiting at the classic cottage retreat. The biggest design challenge was to keep in line with the charm the old home possessed, all the while giving the family all the convenience and efficiency of modern functioning amenities. One of the most interesting uses of material was the porcelain "wood-looking" tile used in all the baths and most of the home's common areas. All the efficiency of porcelain tile, with the nostalgic look and feel of worn and weathered hardwood floors. The home’s casual entry has an 8" rustic antique barn wood look porcelain tile in a rich brown to create a warm and welcoming first impression. Painted distressed cabinetry in muted shades of gray/green was used in the powder room to bring out the rustic feel of the space which was accentuated with wood planked walls and ceilings. Fresh white painted shaker cabinetry was used throughout the rest of the rooms, accentuated by bright chrome fixtures and muted pastel tones to create a calm and relaxing feeling throughout the home. Custom cabinetry was designed and built by Advance Design specifically for a large 70” TV in the living room, for each of the children’s bedroom’s built in storage, custom closets, and book shelves, and for a mudroom fit with custom niches for each family member by name. The ample master bath was fitted with double vanity areas in white. A generous shower with a bench features classic white subway tiles and light blue/green glass accents, as well as a large free standing soaking tub nestled under a window with double sconces to dim while relaxing in a luxurious bath. A custom classic white bookcase for plush towels greets you as you enter the sanctuary bath.

Spa Bath Renovation Spring 2014, Design and build. We moved the tub, shower and toilet to different locations to make the bathroom look more organized. We used pure white caeserstone counter tops, hansgrohe metris faucet, glass mosaic tile (Daltile - City lights), stand silver 12 x 24 porcelain floor cut into 4 x 24 strips to make the chevron pattern on the floor, shower glass panel, shower niche, rain shower head, wet bath floating tub. Custom cabinets in a grey stain with mirror doors and circle overlays. The tower in center features charging station for toothbrushes, ipads, and cell phones. Spacious Spa Bath. TV in bathroom, large chandelier in bathroom. Half circle cabinet doors with mirrors. Anther chandelier in a master bathroom.
