An indoor winter wonderland awaits you. Christmas tree branches sparkle with a touch of frost. A reindeer tree topper provides a personal touch. Frosty ornaments shimmer like icicles, while a faux fur tree skirt makes a cold day feel warm.

Jami Abbadessa, When moving from LA to La Verne, this young family reached out to me to help make their new home more contemporary to better reflect their personality. The home had a good foundation to work around with it’s wood flooring, new cabinets and updated fireplace. I added layers of decor and infused a contemporary vibe that suited their style. There is plenty of seating for family and friends on the custom sectional, chaise and counter stools. New window coverings were custom made with a silvery-white shimmer and thick, grey banded edge detail. To add even more character to the space, I used a geometric flocked wall covering. The walls were painted in 2 shades of grey. A lot of decor, art and accessories were added to make the space feel warm and inviting. The entryway lighting and existing kitchen pendants were replaced with more modern fixtures as well as the cabinetry hardware. Now the space is a place where they can relax, spend time together and entertain family and friends.

Consider the elements: an English conservatory-style kitchen. A Bahamian plantation-inspired bedroom. Florentine palazzos, Swiss chalets, Lowcountry fishing huts – all informed our journey from broad concept to unified, cohesive actuality. First and foremost a home meant to cosset and comfort an active family, it is also an elegant and gracious example of the many handcrafted arts too seldom seen. From custom ceiling treatments to hand-woven rugs, evidence of the artist’s hand abounds, imparting exquisite detail on virtually each and every surface. This stunning master bathroom started with a creative reconfiguration of space, but it’s the wall of shimmering blue dimensional tile that really makes this a “statement” bathroom. The homeowners’, parents of two boys, wanted to add a master bedroom and bath onto the main floor of their classic mid-century home. Their objective was to be close to their kids’ rooms, but still have a quiet and private retreat. To obtain space for the master suite, the construction was designed to add onto the rear of their home. This was done by expanding the interior footprint into their existing outside corner covered patio. To create a sizeable suite, we also utilized the current interior footprint of their existing laundry room, adjacent to the patio. The design also required rebuilding the exterior walls of the kitchen nook which was adjacent to the back porch. Our clients rounded out the updated rear home design by installing all new windows along the back wall of their living and dining rooms. Once the structure was formed, our design team worked with the homeowners to fill in the space with luxurious elements to form their desired retreat with universal design in mind. The selections were intentional, mixing modern-day comfort and amenities with 1955 architecture. The shower was planned to be accessible and easy to use at the couple ages in place. Features include a curb-less, walk-in shower with a wide shower door. We also installed two shower fixtures, a handheld unit and showerhead. To brighten the room without sacrificing privacy, a clearstory window was installed high in the shower and the room is topped off with a skylight. For ultimate comfort, heated floors were installed below the silvery gray wood-plank floor tiles which run throughout the entire room and into the shower! Additional features include custom cabinetry in rich walnut with horizontal grain and white quartz countertops. In the shower, oversized white subway tiles surround a mermaid-like soft-blue tile niche, and at the vanity the mirrors are surrounded by boomerang-shaped ultra-glossy marine blue tiles. These create a dramatic focal point. Serene and spectacular.

Inspiration for a modern powder room remodel in New York

The goal for this entire home was to design everything in black & white and keep each room interesting, well design, sophisticated and most of all, timeless. A great entryway sets the tone for the rest of your home and prepares you for what’s next. I designed this entryway to be tasteful well design but bold and dramatic to keep you interested. I wanted everyone that entered this house to start thinking in their mind “I want to see more!” The lighting and artwork I picked out were all out of my clients’ comfort zone, but they trusted me enough to go with my design.
