Tile: Country French in 3 size 2 thickness 3 color blend
This residence sits on the corner of a T junction facing a public park. The color blend of the roof compliments perfectly the soft shades of the stucco and quickly mellowed down so that the house blends perfectly with the established neighborhood.

This was a re-model and addition to an existing residence. The original roof had been cedar but the architect specified our handmade English tiles. The client wanted a brown roof but did not like a mono dark color so we created this multi shaded roof which met his requirements perfectly. We supplied Arris style hips which allows the roof to fold over at the corners rather than using bulky hip tiles which draw attention to the hips.

This extraordinary and unique century home was designed and built in 1900 by architect Arthur Oviatt and was the 2002 Designer's Showhouse! This home is lovingly preserved and maintained in the character in which it was built but enhanced with today’s modern conveniences like central air and a gourmet kitchen! Hardwood floors, glass door knobs, and pedestal sinks are just a few of the period features you will see.
This regal home sits behind a stone and wrought iron gated entry with a circular driveway and an expansive and majestic open front porch accented by several stately columns. Oh the summer evening cocktail parties you could have on this front porch! The rear yard gradually slopes and steps down to a wooded valley with a pond off to the left, a patio, a grassy area that's perfect for an in-ground pool, and a stream to the near-by lake. The yard is beautifully landscaped with lush easy-to-maintain perennials.

Pleasant Heights is a newly constructed home that sits atop a large bluff in Chatham overlooking Pleasant Bay, the largest salt water estuary on Cape Cod.

Two classic shingle style gambrel roofs run perpendicular to the main body of the house and flank an entry porch with two stout, robust columns. A hip-roofed dormer—with an arch-top center window and two tiny side windows—highlights the center above the porch and caps off the orderly but not too formal entry area. A third gambrel defines the garage that is set off to one side. A continuous flared roof overhang brings down the scale and helps shade the first-floor windows. Sinuous lines created by arches and brackets balance the linear geometry of the main mass of the house and are playful and fun. A broad back porch provides a covered transition from house to landscape and frames sweeping views.

Inside, a grand entry hall with a curved stair and balcony above sets up entry to a sequence of spaces that stretch out parallel to the shoreline. Living, dining, kitchen, breakfast nook, study, screened-in porch, all bedrooms and some bathrooms take in the spectacular bay view. A rustic brick and stone fireplace warms the living room and recalls the finely detailed chimney that anchors the west end of the house outside.

This beautiful home exterior on south river is incredible. The Craftsman style home sits on a bed of luscious grass. The barn-like roof and white pillars bring out a wonderful charm in this home.

Large country white two-story vinyl exterior home photo in Oklahoma City with a shingle roof

This project consisted of a total renovation of a 6,400 sf two story 1940 colonial home with a Kitchen, Family Room, Mudroom and three-car Garage Addition. The design and detailing of the home is traditional in style with built-in cabinetry, engaged pilasters, antique oak floors and sitting porch. We were also commissioned to design a new Pool House and Guest House which were completed after the work on the Main House was finished.

Our client was drawn to the property in Wesley Heights as it was in an established neighborhood of stately homes, on a quiet street with views of park. They wanted a traditional home for their young family with great entertaining spaces that took full advantage of the site.
The site was the challenge. The natural grade of the site was far from traditional. The natural grade at the rear of the property was about thirty feet above the street level. Large mature trees provided shade and needed to be preserved.
The solution was sectional. The first floor level was elevated from the street by 12 feet, with French doors facing the park. We created a courtyard at the first floor level that provide an outdoor entertaining space, with French doors that open the home to the courtyard.. By elevating the first floor level, we were able to allow on-grade parking and a private direct entrance to the lower level pub "Mulligans". An arched passage affords access to the courtyard from a shared driveway with the neighboring homes, while the stone fountain provides a focus.
A sweeping stone stair anchors one of the existing mature trees that was preserved and leads to the elevated rear garden. The second floor master suite opens to a sitting porch at the level of the upper garden, providing the third level of outdoor space that can be used for the children to play.
The home's traditional language is in context with its neighbors, while the design allows each of the three primary levels of the home to relate directly to the outside.

Here's one of our most recent projects that was completed in 2011. This client had just finished a major remodel of their house in 2008 and were about to enjoy Christmas in their new home. At the time, Seattle was buried under several inches of snow (a rarity for us) and the entire region was paralyzed for a few days waiting for the thaw. Our client decided to take advantage of this opportunity and was in his driveway sledding when a neighbor rushed down the drive yelling that his house was on fire. Unfortunately, the house was already engulfed in flames. Equally unfortunate was the snowstorm and the delay it caused the fire department getting to the site. By the time they arrived, the house and contents were a total loss of more than $2.2 million.

By the time they arrived, the house and contents were a total loss of more than $2.2 million.
Our role in the reconstruction of this home was two-fold. The first year of our involvement was spent working with a team of forensic contractors gutting the house, cleansing it of all particulate matter, and then helping our client negotiate his insurance settlement. Once we got over these hurdles, the design work and reconstruction started. Maintaining the existing shell, we reworked the interior room arrangement to create classic great room house with a contemporary twist. Both levels of the home were opened up to take advantage of the waterfront views and flood the interiors with natural light. On the lower level, rearrangement of the walls resulted in a tripling of the size of the family room while creating an additional sitting/game room. The upper level was arranged with living spaces bookended by the Master Bedroom at one end the kitchen at the other. The open Great Room and wrap around deck create a relaxed and sophisticated living and entertainment space that is accentuated by a high level of trim and tile detail on the interior and by custom metal railings and light fixtures on the exterior.

The Watermill House is a beautiful example of a classic Hamptons wood shingle style home. The design and renovation would maintain the character of the exterior while transforming the interiors to create an open and airy getaway for a busy and active family. The house comfortably sits within its one acre lot surrounded by tall hedges, old growth trees, and beautiful hydrangeas. The landscape influenced the design approach of the main floor interiors. Walls were removed and the kitchen was relocated to the front of the house to create an open plan for better flow and views to both the front and rear yards. The kitchen was designed to be both practical and beautiful. The u-shape design features modern appliances, white cabinetry and Corian countertops, and is anchored by a beautiful island with a knife-edge marble countertop. The island and the dining room table create a strong axis to the living room at the rear of the house. To further strengthen the connection to the outdoor decks and pool area of the rear yard, a full height sliding glass window system was installed. The clean lines and modern profiles of the window frames create unobstructed views and virtually remove the barrier between the interior and exterior spaces. The open plan allowed a new sitting area to be created between the dining room and stair. A screen, comprised of vertical fins, allows for a degree of openness, while creating enough separation to make the sitting area feel comfortable and nestled in its own area. The stair at the entry of the house was redesigned to match the new elegant and sophisticated spaces connected to it. New treads were installed to articulate and contrast the soft palette of finishes of the floors, walls, and ceilings. The new metal and glass handrail was intended to reduce visual noise and create subtle reflections of light.

Classic formal areas are positioned off of the Foyer, all sharing the calming ambiance fit for entertaining.
The home's first floor contains the Kitchen, Formal Dining Room, a Transitional Room with a cathedral ceiling, Powder Room, Laundry Room and Pantry off of an alcove at the Kitchen, a bayed Informal Dining Area off of the Kitchen, and a Butler's Pantry. The Master Suite is tucked off the rear of the home with a bayed Sitting Space, tiered crowned tray ceiling, cathedral ceiling Master Bathroom with extra large shower, soaking tub, toilet room and two walk-in closets.
The second floor does not forget the luxury, with 3- Bedroom Suites with baths either shared or open to the common area upstairs. Also provided is a very large Bonus Room with a Media Room nook, large enough for seating for 8.

Inspired by the Campground cottages of Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard, this new garage with living space above is an accessory building to the KHS-designed Touisset Small House Renovation/Addition. It replaces a previous one-story garage and sits on its 16-foot by 22-foot foundation.
In the upper-level sitting room, custom Gothic-revival style doors open to a cantilevered intimate balcony overlooking the backyard. A bracketed roof overhang above the balcony invites sheltered outdoor living. Inside, a beamed cathedral ceiling echoes the ceiling treatment in the Touisset Small House kitchen addition. Beadboard and a simple paint palette further tie the accessory building’s aesthetic to the main cottage.

LOWELL CUSTOM HOMES Lake Geneva, WI., - This Queen Ann Shingle is a very special place for family and friends to gather. Designed with distinctive New England character this home generates warm welcoming feelings and a relaxed approach to entertaining.

This beautiful, three-story, updated shingle-style cottage is perched atop a bluff on the shores of Lake Michigan, and was designed to make the most of its towering vistas. The proportions of the home are made even more pleasing by the combination of stone, shingles and metal roofing. Deep balconies and wrap-around porches emphasize outdoor living, white tapered columns, an arched dormer, and stone porticos give the cottage nautical quaintness, tastefully balancing the grandeur of the design.
The interior space is dominated by vast panoramas of the water below. High ceilings are found throughout, giving the home an airy ambiance, while enabling large windows to display the natural beauty of the lakeshore. The open floor plan allows living areas to act as one sizeable space, convenient for entertaining. The diagonally situated kitchen is adjacent to a sunroom, dining area and sitting room. Dining and lounging areas can be found on the spacious deck, along with an outdoor fireplace. The main floor master suite includes a sitting area, vaulted ceiling, a private bath, balcony access, and a walk-through closet with a back entrance to the home’s laundry. A private study area at the front of the house is lined with built-in bookshelves and entertainment cabinets, creating a small haven for homeowners.
The upper level boasts four guest or children’s bedrooms, two with their own private bathrooms. Also upstairs is a built-in office space, loft sitting area, ample storage space, and access to a third floor deck. The walkout lower level was designed for entertainment. Billiards, a bar, sitting areas, screened-in and covered porches make large groups easy to handle. Also downstairs is an exercise room, a large full bath, and access to an outdoor shower for beach-goers.
