Designed by Interior Designer, A. Lantz Design, this Lake Charlevoix project was featured on the cover of Traditional Home magazine! This whimsy guest bedroom suite encompasses all things sailing! An ode to lake life, custom sail boat drapery adorns the windows while a vintage sail boat lithograph art piece hangs above the iron bed. Red stripe bedding with blue and tab pillows pop on the crisp white bed sheets while a vintage quilt hangs off the bed. The wall sconces allow for more room on the navy blue wicker side tables and the room is anchored by a beautiful, cozy navy and cream striped rug.

Inspiration for a transitional bedroom remodel in Minneapolis

This bedroom was designed to reduce stress and support healing for families and their children with critical illnesses. We used soothing blues, bright greens, and red accents to create a sense of home, of safety, and of hope. We referenced water, animals, and nature - universal themes. The star of the room is the Makelike "Burst" wallpaper. The furniture and fabrics are all durable and comfortable, and include: Robert Allen bench, stool, and fabrics, Lee Jofa textiles, The New Traditionalists desk via Chairish, lighting from Circa Lighting and Sonneman, custom draperies in Romo fabric, a low-profile rug from J.D. Staron, fox throw by Katy Skelton, walnut table by Dylan Design Co.; and bedding from Serena & Lily. Ania Omski-Talwar Location: Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL, USA At 166 sq ft, the size of the living/sleeping area in this studio apartment was quite challenging. We made it work by taking careful dimensions of the space as well as every piece of furniture before purchasing. Even the height of the printer mattered as it had to fit between the filing cabinet and the desk. The busy student who lives here had two primary needs: sleeping and studying. Our goal on this project was to create a live-able and open feeling space in a 690 square foot modern farmhouse. We planned for an open feeling space by installing tall windows and doors, utilizing pocket doors and building a vaulted ceiling. An efficient layout with hidden kitchen appliances and a concealed laundry space, built in tv and work desk, carefully selected furniture pieces and a bright and white colour palette combine to make this tiny house feel like a home. We achieved our goal of building a functionally beautiful space where we comfortably host a few friends and spend time together as a family. John McManus

When living in a smaller home, creating multi-use rooms is essential. This bedroom serves the three functions of guest room, office and home gym with the installation of a custom Murphy Bed. When the bed is fully enclosed, there is plenty of room for exercise. A desk drops from the front of the bed to create a large work area. And the bed can be pulled down to accommodate desks. The unite also features drawer and hanging storage space.

This client was so much fun to design for. Their project was all about color, texture and creating a master bedroom and guest bedroom that compliments their passion for traveling and eclectic style. We created a seating area in the master bedroom where the family can gather at night to read and spend time quality time. Their desire for deep color and bold pattern allowed us to create a casual space that is both warm and inviting at the end of a long day. Guests often visit and stay for a bit. They wanted to give their family and friends the same cozy feel in their guest bedroom. We were able to use a combination of patterns, textures and colors with our custom-made bedding and pillows. We also love to repurpose where we can and painted furniture is a great place to start. The depth of color used here is a true reflection of our clients' warm and friendly personality that says "welcome to our home." This is a very small bedroom that must do double duty as a guest room and office. The curtains make the bed feel built in and create a cozy spot to curl up in.

Working in small or awkward spaces is often the most rewarding because the problem solving required calls on one’s creativity. The slanted ceiling nook in this tween bedroom is a great example of how to turn a demerit into an asset. Instead of trying to ignore it, the feature is played up here with the bold stripe treatment. The nook’s utility is maximized by using a corner desk and creating custom wood shelves affixed to the wall using plumbing piping. Storage space remained a challenge in the room, and if we added a tall storage unit to the wall where one could fit, we would be blocking the light and views of the windows. The solution was to create a long, built-in bench with drawer storage below and two long wooden shelves, higher up the wall, for books and personal items. To bring in an industrial vibe and complement the iron bed, we distressed the wood and used plumbing pipes and fixtures for shelf support. The smallest compact spaces can be functional and beautiful. We designed this kid's room with two goals in mind, to keep it fun and provide creative storage solutions. Each bed functions as a storage unit along with pull out drawers and a secret storage cabinet at the foot of each bed.
