This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area that connects to a screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear facing exercise has great views of the rear yard through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below. Kitchen - large coastal u-shaped medium tone wood floor kitchen idea in Miami with an undermount sink, shaker cabinets, gray cabinets, marble countertops, white backsplash, subway tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances and an island

This family room went from ultra shabby to super chic! Before the renovation the floors were a worn, dated parquet. We replaced the parquet flooring with a warm chocolate glazed birch hardwood. The fireplace surround was a dreary white painted brick which we refaced with a copper metallic porcelain tile. The preexisting built-ins were completely demolished as they were oversized and out of date. We designed more contemporary and functional custom built-ins for the space, adding some square footage to the room as well. We custom designed and built this charging/mail station. Being behind doors keeps the area clean and hides the view of papers, cables, and gadgets. Inside you have outlets for charging devices, pullout drawers for organization, and different sized 'cubbies' with adjustable shelves for easy and efficient storage.

The homeowners wanted a rustic country kitchen and the knotted alder cabinets with the oil rubbed brass handles made that idea come true. The alder has a clear satin finish to had a little sheen but still show the detail of the wood. -Allison Caves, CKD Caves Kitchens

We designed under cabinet lighting to fit this kitchen. LED strip lights are below each upper cabinet and two puck lights above the stove top for efficient task lighting and an attractive light splash against the bead board.
