Solid Wood Structure: To enhance stability even further, the core of our mahogany doors contain the same solid mahogany species. For our engineered banded stiles and rails, each stile features a solid mahogany edge band. The engineered stiles and rails are stronger then single, solid wood pieces, reducing the possibility of the door warping or splitting. Our durable 3-ply wood panels will not twist, warp, shrink or expand. In our finished series, the panel is completely prefinished and sealed on all six sides before being installed, and as the panels are free to float between fixed edges, there is no unfinished part of the panel that may show up with time. There are no nails that hold panels in place.

Former clients of Penza Bailey Architects purchased this property in Greenspring Valley because of the expansive views of the adjacent rolling hills, which were protected by an environmental trust. They asked PBA to design an attached garage with a studio above, a new entrance vestibule and entry foyer, and a new sunroom in the rear of the property to take advantage of the commanding views. The entire house was extensively renovated, and landscape improvements included a new front courtyard and guest parking, replacing the original paved driveway. In addition to the 2 story garage enlargement, PBA designed a tall entrance providing a stronger sense of identity and welcome, along with a 1 1/2 story gallery, allowing light to graciously fill the interior space. These additions served to break up the original rambling roofline, resulting in a thoughtfully balanced structure nestled comfortably into the property.

Front Porch Transformation – From Failing Wood to Full Composite Upgrade ✨
This porch had years of peeling paint, rot, water damage, and structural wear. We rebuilt it from the framing up and gave this home a clean, modern, low-maintenance upgrade that will last for decades.
What we did:
✔️ Removed all failing decking, treads, and trim
✔️ Repaired and reinforced the existing framing
✔️ Installed new composite decking in a beautiful wood-tone finish
✔️ Rebuilt the stair system with composite treads & white risers
✔️ Installed new vinyl railings and posts
✔️ Wrapped all exposed structure in PVC for a clean, maintenance-free finish
✔️ Sealed, repaired, and refinished column bases
✔️ Added all new fasteners, blocking, and waterproofing where needed
The result? A porch that’s safer, stronger, and absolutely elevates the curb appeal of this home.
If your porch or deck is showing signs of age — peeling paint, soft spots, loose rails, or rot — we can rebuild it the right way.

Dancer Concrete Design was contacted to find the best way to deliver a finished concrete floor in such a different type of space. The home’s design is of two intersecting circles that make up the garage and main living space. A basement sits below half of the structure while a structural concrete pad supports the other half circle. The floor finishing would take place in the living room, dinning room, and into the kitchen. For this project the owners were fully occupying the space.
Of course this process aesthetically enhances the space, but we have also found it to increase the durability of our floors. After mechanically removing the grout we move to additional polishing steps and our two-step sealing process of densification and stain guard. Densifying is a reactive penetrating sealer that makes the concrete even stronger and resistant to scratches, stains and other contaminants. The homeowner selected a natural concrete finish – no added stains or dyes – and the final day, the team polished the floor to the desired finish, a level one, 400-grit shine.

Automated or Manually Operated Systems. Our concrete bowls incorporate a concrete-glass fiber mix, resulting in a lighter but structurally stronger bowl. Our decorative pieces are beautifully finished with a hand applied process that includes multiple stains and washes and includes a final wax seal. The wax seal provides a deep, lustrous finish and protection against fading and discoloration from the outdoor environment. The wax seal requires a healthy dose of direct sunlight to finish the curing process. We could use paint and quick drying stains to speed up cure times but this would sacrifice the quality and beauty of our finished products.

Designers gave the house a wood-and-steel façade that blends traditional and industrial elements.Photography by Eric Hausman
Designers gave the house a wood-and-steel façade that blends traditional and industrial elements. This home’s noteworthy steel shipping container construction material, offers a streamlined aesthetic and industrial vibe, with sustainable attributes and strength. Recycled shipping containers are fireproof, impervious to water and stronger than traditional building materials. Inside, muscular concrete walls, burnished cedar beams and custom oak cabinetry give the living spaces definition, decorative might, and storage and seating options.

Using new patented equipment, DesignerStone®Panels are made up of a front layer of thinly cut real stone (granite, travertine, onyx and marble) adhered to an unique backing which is then engineered using the most modern patented technology to create an extremely strong and light weight stone faced structure. We now have DSP's (onyx's, marble and travertine's) for outside use, flooring and for onxy's we have complete sealed units with lighting ready for install. These are custom made and can be shipped anywhere in the world.
The panels are made by cutting natural stone blocks as thin as 5mm. Depending on the type of stone and the use, the backings can be aluminum polymer composite, fibreglass, honeycomb, and PVB. The result is a natural stone panel that is stronger and much lighter than traditional large slabs of the same stone.

This modest kitchen renovation in Lilburn, GA including removing a short peninsula and transforming the space to allow for an island. This greatly improved not only the flow of traffic but also the function of work zones. There was an awkward deep corner with a hutch display that yielded to unfunctional counter space and poor storage. This area was redesigned to be the wall ovens & refrigerator thus allowing more counter space where it was needed -- by the cooktop.
The shallow island features a Zebrawood Island Top with a mineral oil finish, practical and beautiful for food prep! The backside has a soft elliptical arch to increase the top size and allow for a stool for long prep or quick snacks.
The unique monochromatic mosaic backsplash by SOHO Tile creates a beautiful backdrop that compliments with the leathered Fantasy Brown Quartzite counter tops.

In one of the daughters rooms we incorporated the softer look of a scrolled white iron bed, left in its original distressed state. We combined it with the crispness of fresh antique French linens on the bed. The pillowcase is an oversize 24" square from about 1800, and is still in excellent condition. Linen becomes softer and stronger with washings and time. It's a marvelous fabric that absorbed moisture from the skin and evaporates it quickly. It is the most luxurious and comfortable of sleeping bed linens. The bed covering on top of an antique matelasse fabric of cotton with a raised design, perfect as a summer cover.
The bronze elephant lamp adds a light touch to the bed side table, and is repeated in the bronze figure of a ballerina on a demilune facing the end of the bed.
The gold framed print are original antique watercolors from England of fairies. The Roman shade was custom made, and gives a softness to the plantation shutters which control the light in the room. The room is painted a soothing deep taupe with white woodwork; the wall to wall carpeting is a pale gold wool.

The owners loved the location and views from their original 2 bedroom, 1 bath home perched over looking the beautiful ocean shoreline. The problem was the size, layout and overall look of the house did not work for their growing family. The challenge was to take the existing multi-level, disjointed house and turn it into a larger, comfortably-elegant family home all within the existing foot print.
The existing loft-style home was completely gutted and transformed into a four bedroom, 4.5 bath home. Every room in the house boasts fantastic views of the ocean. High on the Owners' list was a stronger street presence. Vistors never could find the front door! The front of the house was given a complete face-lift, leaving no question where to enter the new home.
The Owners also wanted to create usable outdoor space, which on the steep site, was tricky. Instead of taking the material from demolished east side of the house (which was rebuilt) and hauling it off to the landfill, it was used to create a new raised patio off the lower level.
The scale and overall proportions of the house are what the owners love. Each room is comfortable while still having a sense of grace and detail…the perfect mix for this family.
