This condo was stuck in the 70s: dingy brown cabinets, worn out fixtures, and ready for a complete overhaul. What started as a bathroom update turned into a complete remodel of the condo. The kitchen became our main target, and as we brought it out of the 70s, the rest came with it. Our client wanted a home closer to their grandchildren, but to be comfortable and functional, it needed an update. Once we begin on a design plan for one space, the vision can spread across to the other rooms, up the walls, and down to the floors. Beginning with the bathroom, our client opted for a clean and elegant look: white quartz, subway tile, and floating shelves, all of which was easy to translate into the kitchen. The shower and tub were replaced and tiled with a perfectly sized niche for soap and shampoo, and a slide bar hand shower from Delta for an easy shower experience. Perfect for bath time with the grandkids! And to maximize storage, we installed floating shelves to hide away those extra bath toys! In a condo where the kitchen is only a few steps from the master bath, it's helpful to stay consistent, so we used the same quartz countertops, tiles, and colors for a consistent look that's easy on the eyes. The kitchen received a total overhaul. New appliances, way more storage with tall corner cabinets, and lighting that makes the space feel bright and inviting. But the work did not stop there! Our team repaired and painted sheetrock throughout the entire condo, and also replaced the doors and window frames. So when we're asked, "Do you do kitchens?" the answer is, "We do it all!"

Light floods this casual yet sophisticated contemporary Hamptons haven, with walls of windows allowing backyard views to dominate. White quartz countertops and pale flooring reflect light, even on overcast days. Bilotta Designer Doranne Phillips Telberg designed the flat panel doors with a horizontal grain pattern that leads the eye around the room, while the soft driftwood-toned finish complements the wooded site. Floating shelves on either side of the hood make everything visible and accessible, and provide a clear sightline to the open plan dining and living areas. The efficient layout positions the main sink in the 10’ waterfall island facing the scenery, opposite the 48” professional range. Two paneled dishwashers make quick work of cleanup. Anchoring the work triangle are integrated fridge and freezer columns, paneled to be indistinguishable from the pantry on the left. A microwave drawer sits adjacent to the refrigeration. A covered deck steps away means you’ll never be stuck indoors when it rains, and the fire pit assures outdoor living in all but the harshest weather. A wet bar with a beverage refrigerator is strategically located next to the sliding glass door, facilitating service. Another convenience is the folding window that opens out to the deck for easy delivery of food and drinks to guests. This space had the potential for greatness but was stuck in the 1980's era. We were able to transform and re-design this kitchen that now enables it to be called not just a "dream Kitchen", but also holds the award for "Best Kitchen in Westchester for 2016 by Westchester Home Magazine". Features in the kitchen are as follows: Inset cabinet construction, Maple Wood, Onyx finish, Raised Panel Door, sliding ladder, huge Island with seating, pull out drawers for big pots and baking pans, pullout storage under sink, mini bar, overhead television, builtin microwave in Island, massive stainless steel range and hood, Office area, Quartz counter top.

Haylieread was asked to take these two bathrooms stuck in the 1980s and transform them into a spa-like experience. HaylieRead said no problem! The use of neutral tiles with pops of texture added depth and created the tranquil vibe. All plumbing fixtures were updated with beautiful warm metals with customizable sprays. To finish it off HaylieRead used statement pieces throughout to create moments of interest and ease function.

This downtown St. Paul condo had been updated recently but the quality and layout were not great. Before the kitchen renovation, the cabinets were not designed for a kitchen, they were very shallow, with shelves that were constantly falling. The sink was stuck in the corner which made using it very frustrating and the refrigerator was tiny. The homeowner desired an open kitchen with a good layout, plenty of storage, ample countertops, and seating for entertaining. To achieve these goals, we got rid of the kitchen island and open shelving unit to reconfigured the kitchen into a U-shaped layout with a huge peninsula. The large new fridge was relocated to the adjacent wall, the sink was moved out of the corner and the range was moved to the new peninsula. This gave the kitchen a great work triangle that is ideal for entertaining. Open shelves were added for display, and a bold green paint was used on the accent wall where a commissioned painting will hang. Ample Cambria Quartz countertops in the Skara Brae pattern bring an organic feel to the space while the long linear porcelain tile backsplash adds to the industrial, modern vibe of the open loft. This loft now matches the artistic vibes of the building, the personality of the homeowner, and imparts the quality this homeowner deserves so she can enjoy it for many years to come.

This homeowner had two goals: 1. Create a space with flow for entertaining. 2. Imbue it with flawless style. We helped them accomplish both. The high quality Medallion cabinetry holds it own with the polished Misterio Pental quartz on the island and the satin finish Mysore Black Pental quartz on the main counters. The farmhouse sink in the island allows the host to converse with guests while working at the sink instead of being stuck against a wall, and the bar seating allows guests to get comfortable while they enjoy their wine. The dry bar at the far end of the space makes wine and liquor storage look good while keeping the refreshments flowing at arm's reach.

A custom vanity was added to this bathroom as well as cabinetry above the toilet. The walls were painted a barely-there minty seafoam color and we stuck with a neutral color palette with pops of various shades of blues. Sticking with light shades of white and blue enabled this small bathroom to remain bright, light & airy even without natural light.

Client wanted to update their kitchen but wanted to incorporate their original cabinets, which were a blonde wood. They wanted to lighten the kitchen and so we did a white satin finish on the cabinets, installed a grey glazed subway tile backsplash, got ride of the old pick floor tile and laid a grey/brown porcelain tile that grounds the kitchen and breakfast areas very nicely. Under cabinet lighting for a little shine as well as give a functional element for cooking. Added two new shiny chrome industrial pendant lights. Also the double sided fireplace got a redesign. The old outdated mantle that stuck out way too far into the walkway was removed and in its place is now a custom mantle with a mini brick slate tile insert. Arches we added to the walkways to give more architectural detail that is found in other areas of the home.

The challenge for this couple was how to transform this historic Hinsdale century home (her childhood home) into their own, while honoring its heritage. The couple had updated the fireplace and lighting, but were stuck on furniture and decor. Woven shades, which were added in the 1900's, were a jumping-off point to add organic materials: acacia and river rock c-tables, rustic dough bowl, wood bar stools, mudcloth pillows, handwoven cotton throw, a stone coffee table as well as high-top bar table. Overall, the sense of the room is light, bright, yet calm.

The goal is to find that unique combination of design elements that gives you comfort, support and balance. In one home, that perfect balance was struck through the use of symmetry. A pair of comfortable swivel chairs sit beneath matching indigo patterned paintings. Matching bookcases below the paintings contain similar, but not identical, arrangements of books, vases and bowls. Woods and bronzes help warm up the simple white bookcase shelving. Two matching poufs in front of the fireplace provide additional seating. The sofa is accented with a pair of pillows with a blue pattern that echoes the artwork. The effect of the symmetry is to achieve order and simplicity, which I promote at every opportunity. After all, your home interiors should be the setting or the backdrop of your life—not center stage. Antique bronze and blue are complementary colors. Together, they offer a rich palette of richness and depth, which brings out the beauty of wood and stone. In the home office, a unique, whitewash-stained wooden desk rests on metal, Sawhorse-inspired legs for a warm, rustic look. The black leather chair features a contemporary silhouette with an antique brass frame. An adjustable desk lamp has bronze accents. The bookcase combines a sleek, black metal frame with concrete shelves, for another unusual pairing. It’s kept uncluttered for an orderly, peaceful look. Items on the shelves include a bronze-accented lamp and a pair of high gloss-finished wooden bookends. The elegant artwork behind the desk is a simple midnight-blue and bronze with mottled white. Deep blues are again picked up in the rug, which adds a stately vibe with a modern pattern and satisfying texture. Within the framework of symmetry, the living room repeats the blue-and-bronze color scheme. A large midcentury brass clock above the fireplace keeps the natural stone visible, rather than hidden behind a painting or television, while its straight lines and color create a beautiful contrast. The sofa is a soft, neutral blue. The pattern on the round brass side table features echoes the darker blue-patterned rug, as well as the rug in the office, tying the rooms together. Indigo blue books adjacent to bronze vases on the shelves repeat the color scheme. The soapstone-topped coffee table echoes the shape of the fireplace. A pair of tall, matching floor lamps with long wooden bases, brass pulls and simple linen shades combine both the colors and symmetry found throughout the home.

Proof that a better home is possible! We had the existing cabinets painted white and changed the hardware to a modern, clear acrylic. These changes were a major, but manageable upgrade. The bright and airy style pushed this home straight into a new decade, but its function was really still stuck in the past. To fix that, we redesigned the island to have a larger work space and added seating. We then removed the bar cabinet/wine rack, and replaced it with a closed glass door cabinet. Quartz counters were installed, along with new appliances and light fixtures. We are thrilled with the results! When you take all- new cabinets off the table, you can easily cut the labor and materials cost of a kitchen in half.

This master bathroom was stuck in the 1980's and was in need of major help. We reworked the space, replacing the dated and unused whirlpool tub with a tiled walk-in shower. The old fiberglass shower was removed to accommodate a separate water closet. New vanities, linen closet, counter tops, fixtures, lighting and mirrors complete the update.

Corner shelves just stuck in the corner. Out they came. Notice the cheap solution for a door hinge. The work done by the previous owners was obviously done by a Carpenter or Handyman with no Design guidance or knowledge of how to improve his unimaginative solutions.

This is a lovely, 2 story home in Littleton, Colorado. It backs up to the High Line Canal and has truly stunning mountain views. When our clients purchased the home it was stuck in a 1980's time warp and didn't quite function for the family of 5. They hired us to to assist with a complete remodel.
