“Japan is a group of islands surrounded by oceans and seas” writes Dr. Koichi Kawana in “The Garden – Symbols & Esthetics”. Dr. Kawana continues, “From ancient times, the Japanese people had an affinity for the sea […and] one is suppose to be able to enjoy the tranquility of the sea.”

Singer Island’s shoreline hues of tranquility are mimicked inside this spacious unit throughout, featuring clean lines and natural materials and textures. A soothing palette of warm neutrals and blues is expertly delivered through woven details in upholstered furniture and drapery. Mixes of finishes with rich walnut wood tones and polished and brushed stainless are featured in each room. Pops of colorful accents and artwork beautifully finish off the contemporary coastal concept.

Way up North, nestled among pine trees, Melissa Coleman’s cedar-clad A-frame cabin is a modern retreat for outdoor lovers. Coleman, a designer and blogger known as The Faux Martha, completely renovated the dilapidated structure. The dramatic renovation is an homage to Minnesota and cabin culture. As part of her renovation, Coleman replaced permanently fogged windows with products from the Marvin Ultimate collection. She also chose the Marvin Skycove and Marvin Awaken Skylights to fill the previously dim space with natural light and views of the Northwoods. “[The Skycove] looks like it’s always been there. Like it was always supposed to be there,” said Melissa Coleman. “And somehow, a wall of glass windows is incredibly cozy. Just add a cushion and a heavy wool blanket, a good cup of pour-over and a book, and well, you have your weekend plans. We worked on several finishes before we arrived at a solution acceptable to the client, and it came out very well in this application. Photos submitted by homeowner.

Inquire About Our Design Services What we did: Outlined the furniture plan for the entire condo and then made sure everything came to life the way it was supposed to on paper. Reworked the color scheme for the space and repainted: We refreshed her kitchen by selecting a vibrant color backsplash. The peanut butter colored walls in the office room just had to go. Nobody could work in there! Custom designed the bedding in her master bedroom. Installed Hunter Douglas window treatments, and custom drapery that provided her with stylish privacy. Sourced all art and accessories for her space. We infused her amazing cultural collection with some added chicness. What I LOVE: The seagulls in her office. This was a perfect Etsy find. Those nightstands in her bedroom - can you say AH-Mazing! Her view. I was not personally responsible for that, but to work in that space was breathtaking!
