It doesn't have to be a full renovation to make a statement! @gailygaga shows us how a few good pieces and an updated backsplash can turn your entire kitchen around!
“Such a drastic change a simple facelift made. Didn’t want to spend $$$$ on a full kitchen reno, so we’ve just been doing little improvements here and there. Since moving in, we’ve updated the backsplash and switched the top cabinets to this statement range hood. I also love the addition of open shelving, butcher block and pendant lights over the island. This used to be your basic white kitchen but now I look at it and see so much character. This home we have is definitely evolving with us and it teaches me to be patient and not to rush design. Let your house speak to you—I don’t mean that in a spooky way!”

This remodel of a mid-century gem is located in the town of Lincoln, MA a hot bed of modernist homes inspired by Gropius’ own house built nearby in the 1940s. By the time the house was built, modernism had evolved from the Gropius era, to incorporate the rural vibe of Lincoln with spectacular exposed wooden beams and deep overhangs.
The design rejects the traditional New England house with its enclosing wall and inward posture. The low pitched roofs, open floor plan, and large windows openings connect the house to nature to make the most of it's rural setting.

Inspiration for a large contemporary formal and open concept medium tone wood floor and brown floor living room remodel in San Francisco with white walls, a ribbon fireplace, a stone fireplace and a wall-mounted tv

Castello Pro could have been taken from an old French castle, but that would be cutting it short. Instead of relegating it to a rustic existence, why not create a little tension and give it some modern contrast? Clean lines and modern aesthetics will make this vinyl flooring really sing. Although it knows how to share attention, make sure this floor has enough room to show itself off.

We believe good decor is also a conversation starter. We’ll start. Why did the dinosaur cross the road? Because chickens hadn’t evolved yet! You can thank Wes for that little gem.
But in all seriousness, our Lil Foot Bookends bring whimsical fun to the home. Each dinosaur bookend is made from polyresin with a matte silver finish and looks amazing propping up your treasured tales.

Calacatta Umber has a clean, white background with darker veins. This is a metamorphic stone which evolved from a sandstone due to extreme heat and pressure.
Ijen Blue is a cool-toned quartzite from Brazil. Its light blue background is accentuated by blue and gold veining dispersed throughout.

The library / home office as evolved into a combined space. Both practical home office space and T.V. den are combined to create a space where the family can gather to relax and work. Symmetrical architectural elements and richly hued quarter sawn, grain-matched Sapele Mahogany paneling lends this handsomely appointed office its character. The built in desk is seamlessly integrated into millwork and wall panels. The shelving is all back lit and the stepped up LED lit ceiling, add soft, warm light. Ample natural light pours in from the architectural window groupings enhancing the natural tone and striping of the solid mahogany paneling. Full wall built in bookcases add depth and functionality to the space.

At Minto Communities, we’re always trying to evolve through research and development. We see building the Minto Dream Home as an opportunity to push the boundaries on innovative home building practices, so this year’s Minto Dream Home, the Hampton—for the first time ever—has been built as a Net Zero Energy home. This means the home will produce as much energy as it consumes.
Carefully considered East-coast elegance:
Returning this year to head up the interior design, we have Tanya Collins. The Hampton is based on our largest Mahogany design—the 3,551 sq. ft. Redwood. It draws inspiration from the sophisticated beach-houses of its namesake. Think relaxed coastal living, a soft neutral colour palette, lots of light, wainscotting, coffered ceilings, shiplap, wall moulding, and grasscloth wallpaper.

Ward Jewell, AIA was asked to design a comfortable one-story stone and wood pool house that was "barn-like" in keeping with the owner’s gentleman farmer concept. Thus, Mr. Jewell was inspired to create an elegant New England Stone Farm House designed to provide an exceptional environment for them to live, entertain, cook and swim in the large reflection lap pool.
Mr. Jewell envisioned a dramatic vaulted great room with hand selected 200 year old reclaimed wood beams and 10 foot tall pocketing French doors that would connect the house to a pool, deck areas, loggia and lush garden spaces, thus bringing the outdoors in. A large cupola “lantern clerestory” in the main vaulted ceiling casts a natural warm light over the graceful room below. The rustic walk-in stone fireplace provides a central focal point for the inviting living room lounge. Important to the functionality of the pool house are a chef’s working farm kitchen with open cabinetry, free-standing stove and a soapstone topped central island with bar height seating. Grey washed barn doors glide open to reveal a vaulted and beamed quilting room with full bath and a vaulted and beamed library/guest room with full bath that bookend the main space.
The private garden expanded and evolved over time. After purchasing two adjacent lots, the owners decided to redesign the garden and unify it by eliminating the tennis court, relocating the pool and building an inspired "barn". The concept behind the garden’s new design came from Thomas Jefferson’s home at Monticello with its wandering paths, orchards, and experimental vegetable garden. As a result this small organic farm, was born. Today the farm produces more than fifty varieties of vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers; many of which are rare and hard to find locally. The farm also grows a wide variety of fruits including plums, pluots, nectarines, apricots, apples, figs, peaches, guavas, avocados (Haas, Fuerte and Reed), olives, pomegranates, persimmons, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and ten different types of citrus. The remaining areas consist of drought-tolerant sweeps of rosemary, lavender, rockrose, and sage all of which attract butterflies and dueling hummingbirds.
