This bathroom was stripped to the studs; removing floor to ceiling tile, a built-in jet bathtub, and closed off water closet and walk-in closet. All plumbing locations stayed as-is to reduce timeline and save on costs which could be allocated towards the custom vanity and closing off 1 window. The goal was an open concept, spa-inspired space.

A Lake Michigan Home gets a Modern Refresh from Dresner Design.
Photos by Tony Soluri.
This couple moved from Chicago’s Wicker Park to a rural setting but wanted to maintain their modern aesthetic. Scott Dresner of Dresner Design created a light bright clean-lined kitchen perfect for the couple’s need to entertain. Must have’s included a drawer for over sixty spices, storage for three sets of dishes, a coffee bar, and a huge island the couple uses for entertaining. The palette is mostly white to maximize outdoor views. Constraints were plenty both timeline and budgetary. Dresner came up with some creative solutions, which allowed the homeowners to save on cabinetry and materials and splurge on appliances.

See what our client say about Paul Lopa Designs:
My wife and I consider Paul Lopa to one of the best designer / contractors on Staten Island. He handled our recent bathroom renovation with the utmost professionalism and skill. His knowledge of home construction is definitely a plus when working a project such as our 50 year old bathroom. Every facet of the plan, from design, demolition and rebuilding, was managed expertly and skillfully.
Most importantly Paul’s timeline was accurate and work was performed every day without fail. Preparation, such as dust covers, and clean up were also a big plus. We would recommend Paul and his team to anyone regardless of the size or scope of the project. We are great full to him for getting us through the project.

We had a tight timeline to turn a dark, outdated kitchen into a modern, family-friendly space that could function as the hub of the home. We enlarged the footprint of the kitchen by changing the orientation and adding an island for better circulation. We swapped out old tile flooring for durable luxury vinyl tiles, dark wood panels for fresh drywall, outdated cabinets with modern Semihandmade ones, and added brand new appliances. We made it modern and warm by adding matte tiles from Heath, new light fixtures, and an open shelf of beautiful ceramics in cool neutrals.

This TVL project focused primarily on a gut of this home's only bathroom and included a facelift in the kitchen as well. This lovely Denver home features a very tiny bathroom with mostly original features. Our client requested a makeover to the bathroom that would improve function & health as well as push the bright white minimalism she loves so much throughout her home. Respecting both budget and timeline, we worked to create a highly functional space with nods toward European bathroom design. We increased space between the toilet and vanity while also increasing storage by integrating a vanity with drawers rather than a pedestal sink. We utilized high gloss white tile on the floors to help expand light and replaced all major plumbing fixtures for a fresh look. The bathroom now features a much deeper alcove tub, elongated white subway tiles on the walls, shiny chrome faucet fixtures, and a new vanity light. In the kitchen, new white shaker cabinets were installed and paired with a simple white subway tile backsplash. White quartz countertops and new hardwood floors were also added. We love the clean, bright, simple nature of every space in this house and are so happy our wonderful client can enjoy these for years to come!

From the get-go, we knew this project was on a tight budget and a tighter timeline. The construction was set to begin the same week the clients approached us, but we rose to the challenge! The new design has a larger curbless shower; the toilet was moved, creating space for a larger vanity with a warm wood finish that complements the cool white and teal tiles. We selected matt black hardware, plumbing, and light fixtures.
The new floorplan makes the bathroom more functional, spacious, safe, well-lit, and modern.
Overall, the new bathroom highlights the beautiful hexagonal tile, which transitions across the entire room, and onto the shower walls. The project finished on time, within budget, and is functional and aesthetically pleasing!

This was a detached building from the main house just for the theater. The interior of the room was designed to look like an old lodge with reclaimed barn wood on the interior walls and old rustic beams in the ceiling. In the process of remodeling the room we had to find old barn wood that matched the existing barn wood and weave in the old with the new so you could not see the difference when complete. We also had to hide speakers in the walls by Faux painting the fabric speaker grills to match the grain of the barn wood on all sides of it so the speakers were completely hidden.
We also had a very short timeline to complete the project so the client could screen a movie premiere in the theater. To complete the project in a very short time frame we worked 10-15 hour days with multiple crew shifts to get the project done on time.
The ceiling of the theater was over 30’ high and all of the new fabric, barn wood, speakers, and lighting required high scaffolding work.
