When we designed this home in 2011, we ensured that the geothermal loop would avoid a future pool. Eleven years later, the dream is complete. Many of the cabana’s elements match the house. Adding a full outdoor kitchen complete with a 1/2 bath, sauna, outdoor shower, and water fountain with bottle filler, and lots of room for entertaining makes it the favorite family hangout. When viewed from the main house, one looks through the cabana into the virgin forest beyond.

This Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) is 1 bed / 1 bath 499 SF. It is a city of Encinitas Permit Ready ADU (PRADU) designed by DZN Partners. This granny flat feels spacious due to it's high ceilings, large windows and sliders off both sides of the house that let in lots of natural light. There is a large patio off the living room and a private outdoor patio off the bedroom which takes advantage of outdoor living! Come check out this ADU! The Oasis Model ATU Tiny Home Exterior in White and Green. Tiny Home on Wheels. Hawaii getaway. 8x24' trailer. I love working with clients that have ideas that I have been waiting to bring to life. All of the owner requests were things I had been wanting to try in an Oasis model. The table and seating area in the circle window bump out that normally had a bar spanning the window; the round tub with the rounded tiled wall instead of a typical angled corner shower; an extended loft making a big semi circle window possible that follows the already curved roof. These were all ideas that I just loved and was happy to figure out. I love how different each unit can turn out to fit someones personality. The Oasis model is known for its giant round window and shower bump-out as well as 3 roof sections (one of which is curved). The Oasis is built on an 8x24' trailer. We build these tiny homes on the Big Island of Hawaii and ship them throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

This dutch door is solid fir construction with solid brass Baldwin hardware, and opens up into the unit's kitchen. The exterior is a light weight, cementitious polymer based coating with a 100% water proof top seal. Exterior walls have polyurethane closed cell expanding foam insulation and vapour barrier. Model: Rainier Traditional. This traditional, 423 square-foot Kabin has a bedroom that’s separate from the living and kitchen area, which has a vaulted ceiling. There is a partially vaulted loft above the bedroom and attic storage space over the bathroom. Additional features include a .75 bathroom and a 40 sq. ft. covered porch. This backyard cottage is constructed to Built Green’s 4-star standards.

Little Siesta Cottage- This 1926 home was saved from destruction and moved in three pieces to the site where we deconstructed the revisions and re-assembled the home the way we suspect it originally looked.

Exploring passive solar design and thermal temperature control, a small shack was built using wood pallets and re-purposed materials obtained for free. The goal was to create a prototype to see what works and what doesn't, firsthand. The journey was rough and many valuable lessons were learned.

The ShopBoxes grew from a homeowner’s wish to craft a small complex of living spaces on a large wooded lot. Smash designed two structures for living and working, each built by the crafty, hands-on homeowner. Balancing a need for modern quality with a human touch, the sharp geometry of the structures contrasts with warmer and handmade materials and finishes, applied directly by the homeowner/builder. ADU added to the back of an existing garage. Garage is maintained for parking. The bay window was added to the garage to create a space for a tool storage cart. Location of the ADU was selected to reduce encroaching on the existing patio space.
