A collaborative project with an Annapolis architect firm, the design team came to us with two main priorities for this project: first, preserve their majestic waterfront views and second, create comfortable rooms to entertain their family and guests.
Soft, ethereal draperies anchor the picturesque bay window in the master bedroom. Motorized traversing panels in the second floor bedrooms stack off the windows to expose the scenic waterfront, and when closed, darken the rooms for peaceful sleeping. A stage coach valance in a casual stripe pattern, complete with nautical rope ties, provides a fun finish to the well appointed grandchild’s room. Familiar family heirloom furniture pieces were updated and upholstered with welcoming fabrics. Seat cushions and pillows for the rotunda’s custom bench create a cozy place to sit, relax and read a book.

This cornice is in the master bedroom. It has self cording for a finished look and is layered over wood blinds. We used the same fabric as in the master bathroom so the two rooms flowed together. we also used a "keystone" accent fabric on the cornice so we didn't have to railroad the fabric to hide the seams. We also used the accent fabric as the "peek-a-boo" fabric on the master bathroom valances. This kept everything coordinating and still allowed us to incorporate an accent fabric element on the cornice. The draperies are non-functioning. We used a three finger pinch pleat on the draperies so they would remain full and not look skimpy.

Small sunrrom in Upper Montclair home feels larger and lighter with a neutral pallet and a mixture of textures. Patterned wall to wall carpeting creates warmth and unifies the space. Front and back windows appear much larger with working drapery panels stacked on wall spaces, allowing every bit of the view and light to enter the room when open. Valance is sized to allow back door to open and both front and back are mounted up to crown accentuating height of the room. Large side window has two roman shades. All treatments are lined and interlined to help with temperature contol in summer and winter. A great room to relax in and enjoy year round.

4.Flooring: Hardwood flooring is a popular choice for a classic living room. Opt for traditional woods like oak, maple, or walnut. Consider adding an elegant area rug with a traditional pattern, such as a Persian or Oriental rug, to define the seating area.
5.Window Treatments: Choose luxurious window treatments that frame the windows and enhance the classic style. Floor-length drapes with ornate tassels or valances can add a touch of grandeur. Opt for fabrics like silk, damask, or velvet in rich colors or traditional patterns.
6.Lighting: Incorporate traditional lighting fixtures to create a warm and inviting ambiance. Chandeliers with crystal or brass details are a classic choice for the living room. Place table lamps on side tables for additional lighting and a cozy glow in the evenings.

Ann Kenkel Interiors
Coastal Estate in St. Michael's Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. House was designed after the original 1770's house on the property. Home was designed to be a formal house but was now being used as a weekend retreat. Ann Kenkel had to decorate the house in a manner which was coastal enough so owner's felt like they were on vacation yet formal enough for the style of the house.
AK found the house filled with wallpaper from the 1980's. Wallpaper from every room was removed and all trim had to be painted a neutral color.
The formal dining room only had one entry. AK opened up a second entry into the dining room which provided a view of the Chesapeake Bay.

This home office was a complete overhaul that included new flooring, space planning and custom furniture to fit in this small room. Our client is hard working and wanted a space that inspired her to want to be productive. She enjoys this room now. We custom designed the bookcases to house a pull out printer and lots of storage.

This beautiful kitchen is a complete transformation from what the clients had before The new white shaker style cabinets and beveled, taupe, subway tile back splash, go wonderfully with the contrasting black granite counter tops.
I added a gorgeous geometric roman valance to add a little pattern. The vinyle floors were the perfect solution for this contemporary kitchen, the subtle pattern gives the impression the room is larger than it is.

A evening view, also shows the matching pillows and table linens.
