PAEIZ 6 project is located in Tehran, at the intersection of 3 streets. There is a small green space in the northern part of the project. For this reason, the entrance of the complex was defined in this section to ensure easier access, and to be able to enjoy the desired view of the greenery from the lobby. The facade shell with its positive and negative horizontal levels is inspired from NAHAZ O NAKHIR (a kind of bricklaying method in Iranian historical architecture) so that the viewer can see different lights and shadows at each hour of the day. Among these shapes, Using plants also helps to avoid routine. choosing the combination of brick and stone, while having harmony with each other, has been done in order to respect the city and in order to accompany the surrounding buildings as much as possible. By designing windows like puzzles with different and various dimensions, in addition to being different from the common forms, has formed an integrated shape. Vertical access is placed in the middle of the eastern side so that the units can use as much natural light as possible, so that the division and common spaces are reduced to minimum. Stairs, elevators and corridors which are dividing the units with its transparent material led to maintaining the visual connection of the spaces and as a result, it appears larger. As our design mainstream, use of plants in the facade, lobby, basements, the lobby between units and interior design can be seen. The yard did not have enough space for landscaping as a result of having two ramps. In order to solve this challenge, The roof of the ramp is prepared to grow plants. The ground floor consists of two parts, the southern part is parking and the northern part is lobby. The lobby, while having seating and waiting areas, includes a guard post and security equipment, which is decorated with Fountain and plants. -1 and -2 levels are consisted of parking and storages, a gathering hall and a caretaker. The residential project with 5 floors, totally includes 15 three-bedroom residential units with 125 to 150 square meters. - The roof has various facilities such as bathroom, kitchen, barbeque, Jacuzzi, sunbathing area and seating and walking areas. Numerous seating spaces are located at scattered points due to the number of units and the possibility of simultaneous use. Walking paths through the gardens have defined a suitable space for walking. Due to the desirable view to the north (mountains in north of Tehran) and south (QEITARIEH Park), the walls of these two sides have been shortened with gaps, while the western wall overlooking the neighbor is surrounded by higher walls.

At first glance this home seems to disappear into it’s surroundings. The dark, natural appearance of the rock borrows hues and rough texture from the surrounding forest. A soft, powder blue paint gives no clear chromatic indication between structure and sky. With this in mind the dark shingles seem to float above a stoney foundation. Unexpected levitation isn’t the only aerial endeavor this home embarks upon. With lofty interiors and dismissible separation from the outdoors; people, air and conversation can flow freely throughout the combined space. Overall the home echoes the popular American Craftsman style, which dots the Pacific Northwest landscape. This is a hand painted mural on a 2000 SF retaining wall that wraps around an indoor play space for a large family. The mural includes images of the family, their friends and extended family. The quaint town scene is a sweet, inviting backdrop for their pool and foosball table, or for a game of indoor soccer on the artificial turf flooring. I incorporated trompe l'oeil elements with realistic scale and also long vistas, so the viewer feels like they can walk right in to the scene.

Vertical black metal balusters rise in clean rhythm alongside, grounding the warmth of the oak with a contemporary edge. What ties it all together is the continuous handrail, a custom profile that flows uninterrupted through the stairwell, transitioning seamlessly into the newel without missing a beat. Travertine subway tiles were used as the back splash for this updated Kitchen. The granite selected is Costa Esmerelda. Cabinets are frameless beech. Upper cabinets have sandblasted glass panels that increase the visual space of the Kitchen while providing only subtle details of color to the viewer's eye.

Home Theater Room designed and built to immerse the viewers into the movie they are watching. All the walls and ceiling are treated with acoustic panels and base traps to help control the sound. A fiber optic ceiling suspended from the ceiling and back lit with LED lighting to help accent the room.

When envisioning the Hygeia Lot 3 single family residential home in Encinitas, California, Lindsay and Rory Brown of The Brown Studio sought to weave unique architectural details throughout the minimalist design scheme. To add depth to the overall look and feel of the space, and to complement the home’s existing ‘hard’ angles, the team selected Banker Wire’s IPZ-25 woven wire mesh. Specified in a stainless steel and brass finish, the wire mesh was utilized to create the interior stairway railing, which functions as the focal point of the lower lounge room area. Adding an elegant touchpoint to the space, the wire mesh reiterates the angular look and feel while providing much-needed depth through the stainless steel and brass finish. Similarly, for the project-at-large, the design team favored a seamless indoor/outdoor design scheme, with the Banker Wire mesh application helping to achieve this; the exterior of the home features Gabion rock walls, created using an enclosing wire structure to secure the rocks into a wall formation. By adding the wire mesh interior stairway railing, the design team was able to create an indoor/outdoor connection through highlighting these unique wire touchpoints. “The Hygeia Lot 3 house is full of unique angles and architectural details—it’s two levels of playful design and carefully crafted architectural details,” says Loryn Cook, Designer, The Brown Studio. “We wanted to use materials that reflect this line of thinking, and Banker Wire’s architectural mesh provided the stability and breathability we were after.” The simple, lightweight material of the IPZ-25 wire mesh pattern—which has a 54% open area—utilizes a mixture of stainless steel to achieve balanced sturdiness; when mixed with the copper-based alloy of brass, a beautiful contrast occurs, while the team’s custom system holds the wire in place. Through utilizing different wire diameters for the warp and shute—achieving balanced stiffness in both directions—the intercrimp surface gives the material a high degree of reflective energy. As a result, the mesh pattern imitates an array of colors that changes as the viewer moves throughout the space. “For this project, we wanted a material that was permeable enough to see through, but detailed enough to catch the eye,” adds Cook. “IPZ-25 provides a myriad of different textures and colors, depending on the perspective from which it is viewed from—we love it specifically for this effect.” In regards to the fabrication process, Robert Richter, Owner of Flur Metals, notes that although it was initially a challenge, this project is proof that the outcome is well worth it. “We typically utilize more rigid mesh types for this kind of application, but because of how unique IPZ-25 is, The Brown Studio came to us asking if we could make it work,” says Richter. “We did not shy away from the challenge; this project was exciting, as we were able to utilize such a delicate, beautiful mesh, but a non-traditional way. Once one side was ‘tac’d in,’ we pulled it tight, and ‘tac’d’ the other side to the frame. Then, the border was welded to another frame that sandwiched the mesh in place,” adds Richter. “This application is proof that it can be done! It’s still one of my favorite projects we have ever worked on.”

The space was originally dominated by large trees and had been overgrown with ivy, sumac and aggressive vines, providing an unwelcome, dark space with little color or visual appeal. The client requested a colorful blend of shrubs and perennials that would provide interest throughout the seasons, as well as provide privacy by screening the street traffic along Carisbrooke Road. Our goal was to create the privacy screen along the road by layering plants from the ground to the tree canopy. The theme was to let nature inspire the landscape, allowing a space that was originally woodland to become an enhanced version of itself, creating a beautiful habitat for birds and butterflies to excite the senses and satisfy all who enjoy the beauty of nature. We began by clearing the brush and removing all aggressive vines and ivy that jeopardized the health of the trees. We kept and transplanted all non- invasive or native plant material in the area to various locations throughout the property. Several yards of compost were then tilled into the soil and the existing trees fertilized to provide a rich growing environment. A few challenges occurred during the design process. It was decided that a new generator was to be installed in the woodland and due to a future addition to the house, we were forced to eliminate planned additional impervious pathway surfaces. We provided screening to hide the generator and buffer the noise, and created a meandering path and sitting area out of natural woodchips instead of the proposed bluestone to solve the impervious space issue. The woodchips add a sense of informality and invite the viewer to walk slowly through the space. The reduced noise from the additional screening of the generator allows for quiet reflection as chipmunks scurry and hummingbirds dart about between the flowers. Our plant palette consists of shady understory plants that thrive and flower vigorously from spring through fall. A tall, lush, evergreen backdrop of Ilex opaca and Prunus laurocerasus ‘Schipkaensis’ provides the screening and blends into a middle layer of ‘Ivory Halo’ dogwood, hydrangeas and winterberry hollies. Beautiful perennials and groundcovers bloom along the woodland path, providing a low visual layer of color and texture. Movement throughout the garden is provided by the graceful Calamagrostis brachytricha and Hakenchloa that soften the nearby hardscaping. The woodland floor is full of shade-loving Solomon’s seal, hosta, astilbe, ferns, bleeding heart, Tiarella and Aconitum. The street side of this woodland required plants with a preference for a little more sun and drought tolerance. A palette of oakleaf hydrangea, Agastache, Liatris and Rudbeckia softens the fence line and provides the desired color. As designed and installed, the woodland garden successfully provides the client’s family and office staff a quiet space where they can take a peaceful moment and enjoy nature. Photo Credit: Lisa C. The owner of this urban residence, which exhibits many natural materials, i.e., exposed brick and stucco interior walls, originally signed a contract to update two of his bathrooms. But, after the design and material phase began in earnest, he opted to removed the second bathroom from the project and focus entirely on the Master Bath. And, what a marvelous outcome! With the new design, two full­height walls were removed (one completely and the second lowered to knee­wall height) allowing the eye to sweep the entire space as one enters. The views, no longer hindered by walls, have been completely enhanced by the materials chosen. The limestone counter and tub deck are mated with the Rift­cut Oak, Espresso stained, custom cabinets and panels. Cabinetry, within the extended design, that appears to float in space, is highlighted by the under­cabinet LED lighting, creating glowing warmth that spills across the butter­colored floor. Stacked stone wall and splash tiles are balanced perfectly with the honed travertine floor tiles; floor tiles installed with a linear stagger, again, pulling the viewer into the restful space. The lighting, introduced, appropriately, in several layers, includes ambient, task (sconces installed through the mirroring), and “sparkle” (under­cabinet LED and mirror­frame LED). The final detail that marries this beautifully remodeled bathroom was the removal of the entry slab hinged door and in the installation of the new custom five glass panel pocket door.
