An empty room is a blank canvas that will intimidate your viewer with the number of possibilities. However, setting up a little scenario, such as a dining room table with a small plant or a bowl of fruit, hints towards the potential possibilities of that space. Turning a blank canvas into an exciting game of charades. It only takes a few objects to give a room purpose, but try staging your space digitally when you don't have the time or resources.

Contemporary horizontal design using Sapele mahogany boards with a "dime gap". The two vertical stiles are inlaid. The design and Sikkens stain finish compliment the wood soffit above and other wood features on the front of this beautiful home. Note the apparent absence of horizontal breaks between door sections. This door is only 20 feet or so from the street so even the casual viewer gets to appreciate its sophisticated wood grain details.

Hudson Thomas is a painter currently working out of the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina. He works in oil and acrylic presented mainly on canvas or panel. His body of abstract work is inspired by individual experiences, often which he tries to turn from hardship to beauty. He turns to painting as an expression of his view because he is bewildered by the communion that painting provides. He sees visual art as a conversation between the picture and the artist, and thus the artist and the viewer. A conversation without language, geographical, or time barriers.

This mural includes three 4 x 8 foot panels. The mural depicts a historic building in downtown Grand Rapids and shows passersby reflected in the window. Two homeless children stand in an open door and look directly at the viewer. The mural was created to bring attention to the many homeless children living in abandoned buildings in our neighborhoods.

The owner of this urban residence, which exhibits many natural materials, i.e., exposed brick and stucco interior walls, originally signed a contract to update two of his bathrooms. But, after the design and material phase began in earnest, he opted to removed the second bathroom from the project and focus entirely on the Master Bath. And, what a marvelous outcome! With the new design, two full­height walls were removed (one completely and the second lowered to knee­wall height) allowing the eye to sweep the entire space as one enters. The views, no longer hindered by walls, have been completely enhanced by the materials chosen. The limestone counter and tub deck are mated with the Rift­cut Oak, Espresso stained, custom cabinets and panels. Cabinetry, within the extended design, that appears to float in space, is highlighted by the under­cabinet LED lighting, creating glowing warmth that spills across the butter­colored floor. Stacked stone wall and splash tiles are balanced perfectly with the honed travertine floor tiles; floor tiles installed with a linear stagger, again, pulling the viewer into the restful space. The lighting, introduced, appropriately, in several layers, includes ambient, task (sconces installed through the mirroring), and “sparkle” (under­cabinet LED and mirror­frame LED). The final detail that marries this beautifully remodeled bathroom was the removal of the entry slab hinged door and in the installation of the new custom five glass panel pocket door. Dock lighting enables boaters and viewers the ability to enjoy the water long after dark or in the pre-dawn light without fear of falling. Rail and stair lighting are also standout features of the Minneapolis home.

Here we have a brilliantly designed work desk made out solid beach in a clear lacquer finish.The background peeks into a magnificent large space of the kitchen. This photo helps the viewer visualize the vast open space. The kitchen cabinetry is made out of beech with medium walnut stain, and pigmented lacquer for the finish.

An elegant home office design with bold blue, custom sideboard, and gold accents. Existing wainscoting was kept white, while a striking rich cobalt blue was painted above. A fun pink chair pops and the coffered ceiling adds interest in an otherwise traditional space. The ceiling was designed at an angle to draw viewers into the room.

The Flower Bomb wallpaper brings a touch of black humour to the formality of a Georgian striped wallpaper. The design remixes a stylised bomb with classical motifs and in doing so reminds the viewer that the extremes of human existence - love and hate, war and peace, light and darkness - so often go hand in hand.
