We recently participated in a Designer Showhouse for a historic home in Bayport, NY. We were asked to do the dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Due to the homes proximity to the ocean we chose ocean blues as our theme color. Although the room itself is a good size we did not want to overwhelm it with furniture and instead chose accent pieces that draw the viewers attention to the beautifully restored chair rail on the walls. The bamboo rug blends nicely with the restored floors, thus offering it protection in the table area but not detracting from the floors natural beauty. We chose to work with the existing chandelier in keeping with the style of the home. We changed the glass to shades on the chandelier to give the room softer feel. We thank Barbara Leogrande of Douglas Elliman for offering us the opportunity to work on this beautifully restored historic home.

What ties it all together is the continuous handrail, a custom profile that flows uninterrupted through the stairwell, transitioning seamlessly into the newel without missing a beat. An elegant home office design with bold blue, custom sideboard, and gold accents. Existing wainscoting was kept white, while a striking rich cobalt blue was painted above. The palette picks up the blue and white highlighted in other rooms in this wing of the home. A fun pink chair pops and the coffered ceiling adds interest in an otherwise traditional space. The ceiling was designed at an angle to draw viewers into the room. Curtains break up the wall with a classic pattern which is then reflected throughout the room in the curves of the desk chair, vases, lamps and other accessories. The outline of the curtain design can be seen mimicked on the floor in the graphic rug pattern. Gorgeous custom upholstered chairs frame a modern side table and lamp inspired by the clients' world travels. Color and texture flows through the room connecting each piece to the next.

The Conceptual Design Development- RENESA ARCHITECTURE DESIGN INTERIORS have recently completed an interiors project for a penthouse(The PentHaus) in Gurgaon. The basic design requirement as per the client was to divide the floor plates in the penthouse on the basis of public and private relationship.(With the public interaction and services on the lower level with the private interface on the upper level). The design philosophy as dictated and understood was on the lines of contrast in colors with the play of art and decorative pieces highlighting the depth in the detailing of the accessorization of the whole scale model. The client's interest in art and design pieces worked in favor for RENESA DESIGN STUDIO as it was a value-addition to the whole interior decor design process. Credits need to be given to the client for the right selection of art pieces in terms of the color pallet blending into the design philosophy set by RENESA STUDIO. A mix of contemporary modern with classical essence here and there provides a smooth transition of amalgamation of different design philosophies in a given space model. The play of solid volumes with double height spaces gives the apartment a very expansive and grand look at the entrance. Thus a line of communication is created between the public and private zones via the massive chandelier mass structure in the middle of the entrance foyer. RENESA ARCHITECTURE STUDIO carefully studied and analyzed the given area and the clients requirement for the look and feel for the space (internal decor) and planned the space accordingly. The positioning and placement of art pieces, furniture and furnishings once decided by RENESA was left to the client to decide and they did proper justification to the space with some amazing decor choice to value add to the existing space design by the architects. It is also great to have clients with good design taste as it is always a value addition to the architect's vision. Each and every space has been demarcated with its own essence of design so that they stand out and give a new experience to the visitor while passing through. Also, the toilets have been carefully crafted according to the ambience of the space. Different specialized Italian stones for each different toilets gives a new experience for the viewers. Perhaps the contrasting color pallets of the activity zones change so massively that the eye catching experiential pathway is induced at the lower level of the apartment. The kitchen area has been expansively designed to give a very airy feeling to the household activities. Huge windows with amazing views provide a perfect setup for a good-to-cook ambiance at any time of the day. The deck area for the Penthouse has been carefully crafted in terms of keeping the pallet on the green side with a tinge of hardscaping with the lit backdrop of the penthouse adding character to this external space. Hence, all in all the character of a bling-y yet subtle design space is created at this apartment with more importance given to the transparency of the space transitions with the careful play of the color shade card in the backdrop.

The owner of this urban residence, which exhibits many natural materials, i.e., exposed brick and stucco interior walls, originally signed a contract to update two of his bathrooms. But, after the design and material phase began in earnest, he opted to removed the second bathroom from the project and focus entirely on the Master Bath. And, what a marvelous outcome! With the new design, two full­height walls were removed (one completely and the second lowered to knee­wall height) allowing the eye to sweep the entire space as one enters. The views, no longer hindered by walls, have been completely enhanced by the materials chosen. The limestone counter and tub deck are mated with the Rift­cut Oak, Espresso stained, custom cabinets and panels. Cabinetry, within the extended design, that appears to float in space, is highlighted by the under­cabinet LED lighting, creating glowing warmth that spills across the butter­colored floor. Stacked stone wall and splash tiles are balanced perfectly with the honed travertine floor tiles; floor tiles installed with a linear stagger, again, pulling the viewer into the restful space. The lighting, introduced, appropriately, in several layers, includes ambient, task (sconces installed through the mirroring), and “sparkle” (under­cabinet LED and mirror­frame LED). The final detail that marries this beautifully remodeled bathroom was the removal of the entry slab hinged door and in the installation of the new custom five glass panel pocket door. This is a hand painted mural on a 2000 SF retaining wall that wraps around an indoor play space for a large family. The mural includes images of the family, their friends and extended family. The quaint town scene is a sweet, inviting backdrop for their pool and foosball table, or for a game of indoor soccer on the artificial turf flooring. I incorporated trompe l'oeil elements with realistic scale and also long vistas, so the viewer feels like they can walk right in to the scene.
