This Master Bathroom has large gray porcelain tile on the floor and large white tile ran vertically from floor to ceiling. A shower niche is also tiled so that it blends in with the wall.

Before assessing where to build out your new work or study space, you should consider your home’s interior – where makes the most sense?
Do you have a room collecting junk that can be converted?
A kid’s playspace that could use a facelift?
A corner of the kitchen not being used?
An unused dining area or living room corner gathering dust?

Cape Cod Style Home Office, Upstairs Home Office with Built-in Desk, Home Office With Built-in Shelving
Built By CR Watson Fine Home Building and Remodeling Photos by JFW Photography for CR Watson

Our busy young homeowners were looking to move back to Indianapolis and considered building new, but they fell in love with the great bones of this Coppergate home. The home reflected different times and different lifestyles and had become poorly suited to contemporary living. We worked with Stacy Thompson of Compass Design for the design and finishing touches on this renovation. The makeover included improving the awkwardness of the front entrance into the dining room, lightening up the staircase with new spindles, treads and a brighter color scheme in the hall. New carpet and hardwoods throughout brought an enhanced consistency through the first floor. We were able to take two separate rooms and create one large sunroom with walls of windows and beautiful natural light to abound, with a custom designed fireplace. The downstairs powder received a much-needed makeover incorporating elegant transitional plumbing and lighting fixtures. In addition, we did a complete top-to-bottom makeover of the kitchen, including custom cabinetry, new appliances and plumbing and lighting fixtures. Soft gray tile and modern quartz countertops bring a clean, bright space for this family to enjoy. This delightful home, with its clean spaces and durable surfaces is a textbook example of how to take a solid but dull abode and turn it into a dream home for a young family.

Jessa turned part of her loft bedroom into a home workspace with a charming writing desk and built-in charge ports for an easy laptop setup. It is a simple, practical addition that lets her work comfortably without giving up the tucked-away, nautical-inspired retreat she loves.

In this photo you see the space that was formerly our client's formal dining room. By removing a wall and expanding the kitchen into this little used area, we were able to add a tremendous amount of storage to the kitchen. We also added the window with southern exposure above the bank of cabinets along the exterior wall. These changes allow natural light to flood the room throughout the day, making the entire kitchen much brighter.
The bow window is now a dining nook that does double duty as a work station for when our clients work from home.

Stone and siding create a striking facade, and an arched portico mirrors the graceful curves of exterior windows. Multiple gables and an angled courtyard garage spark instant curb appeal. French doors and windows usher in light and views, while columns and a fireplace complement the cathedral great room. The spacious gourmet kitchen features an angled island, and is open to the great room and cathedral dining room. A generous walk-in pantry is located nearby. Accented by a banquette and French doors, the dining room leads to a screened porch and adjacent side porch. Located in the rear of the home for privacy, the exquisite master suite includes an intimate circular sitting nook, fireplace, porch access, huge walk-in closet, and well-appointed bath. Two bedrooms share a dual-vanity bath and a versatile study/bedroom in the front of the home creates optimal space for a home office or library. Numerous porches provide an abundance of space for outdoor living, including the screened porch with fireplace and summer kitchen, perfect for alfresco dining and entertaining.

Though the lion share of our work has been in Fairfield and Westchester counties, we have built homes in Palm Beach, Aspen, Maine, Nantucket and Long Island.

The client wanted to create a traditional rustic design with clean lines and a feminine edge. She works from her home office, so she needed it to be functional and organized with elegant and timeless lines. In the kitchen, we removed the peninsula that separated it for the breakfast room and kitchen, to create better flow and unity throughout the space.

Open the doors and enter this gorgeous work space that doubles as a reading room.
Interesting note: We widened the entry to this room slightly so that we could install standard sized doors and transom. Had we not widened the door, the client would have had to purchase a custom window and doors which would have been significantly more expensive.

This photo: Interior designer Claire Ownby, who crafted furniture for the great room's living area, took her cues for the palette from the architecture. The sofa's Roma fabric mimics the Cantera Negra stone columns, chairs sport a Pindler granite hue, and the Innovations Rodeo faux leather on the coffee table resembles the floor tiles. Nearby, Shakuff's Tube chandelier hangs over a dining table surrounded by chairs in a charcoal Pindler fabric.
Positioned near the base of iconic Camelback Mountain, “Outside In” is a modernist home celebrating the love of outdoor living Arizonans crave. The design inspiration was honoring early territorial architecture while applying modernist design principles.
Dressed with undulating negra cantera stone, the massing elements of “Outside In” bring an artistic stature to the project’s design hierarchy. This home boasts a first (never seen before feature) — a re-entrant pocketing door which unveils virtually the entire home’s living space to the exterior pool and view terrace.
A timeless chocolate and white palette makes this home both elegant and refined. Oriented south, the spectacular interior natural light illuminates what promises to become another timeless piece of architecture for the Paradise Valley landscape.
