The master suite in this 1970’s Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home was transformed from open and awkward to clean and crisp. The original suite was one large room with a sunken tub, pedestal sink, and toilet just a few steps up from the bedroom, which had a full wall of patio doors. The roof was rebuilt so the bedroom floor could be raised so that it is now on the same level as the bathroom (and the rest of the house). Rebuilding the roof gave an opportunity for the bedroom ceilings to be vaulted, and wood trim, soffits, and uplighting enhance the Frank Lloyd Wright connection. The interior space was reconfigured to provide a private master bath with a soaking tub and a skylight, and a private porch was built outside the bedroom. A garden area with a Japanese Maple as its center focus enhanced with a self contained water feature and surrounded by flowering plants including a mixture of perennials that add not only a beautiful flower but great leaf texture and color. Accent boulders were another added feature. The combination of all these creates a beautiful garden.

The white soaking tub is centered beneath a broad window and paired with a floor-mounted brushed-metal filler. Marble-look wainscoting and blue towels introduce texture and cool-toned contrast.

A new double vanity in soft greige anchors the bathroom, with Shaker doors, a bank of center drawers and matte black pulls. Kohler arched mirrors, modern two-light sconces and a marble-look countertop complete a balanced, elegant vanity wall.
