The existing kitchen had a functional layout with quality cabinetry, but the warm oak finishes, tile flooring, and dark countertops made the space feel dated. The goal was to preserve the home’s footprint while creating a brighter, more sophisticated kitchen with improved storage, a dedicated beverage bar, higher-end appliances, and finishes that balanced warmth with modern design.

Tucked just off the main living space, this scullery kitchen was designed to keep the heart of the home both functional and beautiful. The navy cabinetry anchors the room, while the white quartz counters and open oak shelving create balance and warmth. Every detail, from the herringbone backsplash to the brass hardware, was chosen to bring everyday luxury to a busy family’s routine.

This kitchen stays bright and clean by eliminating bulky cabinetry that often immediately ages a home. Instead, the architect designed large auxiliary kitchen spaces and pantries for storage, extra appliances, and food prep.

A hip young family moving from Boston tackled an enormous makeover of an antique colonial revival home in downtown Larchmont. The kitchen area was quite spacious but benefitted from a small bump out for a banquette and additional windows. Navy blue island and tall cabinetry matched to Benjamin Moore’s Van Deusen blue is balanced by crisp white (Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace) cabinetry on the perimeter. The mid-century inspired suspended fireplace adds warmth and style to the kitchen. A tile covered range hood blends the ventilation into the walls. Brushed brass hardware by Lewis Dolan in a contemporary T-bar shape offer clean lines in a warm metallic tone.
