cmottesen, My spouse fell in love with the namibian fantasy. shop was advertising it as quartzite but another shop told us its marble just by looking at the picture. after coming back to the shop selling it and asking if its trully is a marble, they didnt admit first. then they said they are buying it as "quartzite" but it really is not as strong. It is more like marble, but stronger, it has some quartzite elements to it. So we decided to go for it anyway. when we wanted to get the edges nicely cut into some round shapes, store called several of their installers and all declined doing it, saying it will chip. they were only willing to bevel it with a simpler cut. so i am starting to believe it is trully a marble. period. googling showed thenamibian fantasy in several other stores marked as marble.
anyhow, we are still willing to risk it, but i wonder what people having it for a while say. did you end up using it? does it hold well the test of time (and mess) in your kitchen?

Update: having it for 2 years now. It is really beautiful but delicate too. My spouse is paranoid about keeping it clean and stain free.. she seals it every six month.. We have marks created by just condensed water from glass bottoms. Needless to say the area around the sink where water splashes is all dried up and looks matted,, not as shiny as it was. We're very diligent about wiping any splashes or dirt all the time, and still, it slowly catches damage and etches. Amazingly beautiful, but only for those willing to keep it fascist clean.

Flooring guy, is your namibian polished or honed?

considering it for our kitchen, testing both polished and honed samples. honed has no staining/ minimal etch from vinegar, but barely visible.

polished has lots of etching. polished is out as a choice , but honed seems like a contender.
