Brown and gray is a beautiful combination. I would go with a drum shade, which is simple in design, so it doesn't compete with the gorgeous texture of the lamp base. A diameter of 18" might work, but taking the lamp to a professional shade retailer is a good idea. They will guide you with the best depth from top of the base to the finial, as well as the width of the shade. Ivory linen would be the most traditional choice, but I also think a medium brown, would look great.

A drum shade is contemporary, so offers a nice contrast to the lamp base. Your color scheme suggests that an ivory or coffee/tan shade would work. i wouldn't go with a color similar to the chairs. (unless they're ivory - photos don't always tell the real story with color).

Agreed. The drum shade you tried is way too big, especially in height. I believe the bottom of the stem should not be visible. Also makes me think the coffee color would be better with the aged look of the base.

I think a darker colored shade looks much better. The light colored ones are too stark with the beautiful finish on the lamp.

A rectangle bell is what you need and take the lamp to the lamp store with you to try it on the lamp for the height. I would go with black.

The shade you tried looks too modern while the lamp looks very antiquated. I would try a more classic shade with a darker tone as the beige shade almost competes with the design of the lamp.
