Are you making your own? It may just end up being trial and error. I don't know if the weights are listed online if you looked at some on different websites, but if you go to a few stores, you could use a scale from the bathroom department to weigh a few and get an average weight.

No, we are not making our own holder. We just thought someone would know how heavy a free standing holder should be. We don't want one too light so it doesn't tip over when someone unrolls the paper. Is there a standard or typical weight? Just asking in case someone had issues with one before. Thanks. Helen

I've only ever had issues with one. If you have any option to hang a regular holder on the wall or side of a cabinet, it is to be preferred, but if you must use a standing one, you can adapt.

Ok thanks. I have some very expensive wallpaper that I don't want to make a hole in and a very expensive vanity in my powder room with an extremely unusual wood finish that I want to show off. Will proceed with trial and error. Helen

ours weighs either 2.3 lbs or 2 lb 3 oz, not sure what the luggage scale is saying... it has never fallen over.
