The problem is the chair. I love it but realize it doesn't quite fit in with everything else. I was hoping that dressing the bed up more would help tie it all in. I was thinking lighter euro shams and darker cushions but not sure. The room is very blue-maybe add another colour? Green? Coral?

I love your bedding! I would replace the chair. It doesn't seem to go with the rest of the room. I would also add two more throw pillows on the bed and consider taller lamps on the side tables. Perhaps one of the smaller lamps could go where that bigger lamp is? I'd also start looking for some art for the walls that compliments your bedding. Are you wanting things to pop or are you looking for a softer monotone look for the room?

The chair will work just fine if you drape an off-white textured throw over it. I'd also look into more substantial, brighter lamps, perhaps mercury glass to throw even more light around. Some (live) green plants will add some life to the room.

The chair is the only thing in the room that has real personality. And you love it. So... I wouldn't tone it down, but I would pick colours from the chair and add those to your bedding (pillows, throw) and find some larger lamps with an orange base and a green or blue shade for instance to go beside the bed. Just take your chair as your inspiration for this room.

I'll see if I can find you some online UK things that I'm thinking of.

If the chair is what you really like, I'd switch the room out to be brighter and bolder and get away from the softer muted colors you currently have going. I think you need to go one way or the other...

Take everything out of the room except the
Furniture and chair and start from there using
Chair as inspiration
Remove existing curtains ,replace with chair color
Combo in
Hang new curtains higher up the wall
Thus will add more space to the room
Maybe u could paint a wall a color from the chair

Thanks all. What type of cushions do you think would work? The greens? Blues? Can the bedding take bright colours? I'm happy to go with them if so. Carolins-that's quite a harsh thing to say about character but I'm assuming I'm just tired and being over sensitive.

Could I layer the white quilt over another throw to liven up the bed?

If you want to keep the chair, which is wonderful and sports great colors, I would use it to draw other colors for the room. The bedding is very pretty, but when set against the chair looks a little drab, Go bold withe the bedding. I'd pick a color from the chair and go more contemporary, perhaps in a solid. I agree with prior comments re bigger lamps. A colorful piece of artwork above the bed which reflects the colors in the chair/bedding would help tie it together. If you prefer the soft delicate look of the bedding, perhaps the chair could go into another room where you can enjoy it. To me, the bedding and the chair are fighting each other in terms of style. -- pretty and soft vs bold and exciting.

Sadly I can't get mercury glass here. The bedding background looks very white and the walls are white. Off white looks a bit grubby against it all. Can I put a white throw on the chair?

Sorry. I apologise. It's late in the day here and much as I love the chair I'm struggling to make it work. Thanks everyone. I do need to add colour to the bed to make the chair fit in. I have found some artwork I like on Etsy but I'm not sure it's right for the space.

I think you need to keep one or the other, the chair or the bedding. If you go for the chair then white bedding would give you the base you need to add some great accessories and tie in the colours from the chair. If you go for the bedding then again it will be easier since you won't be fighting the chair. They don't tie together easily though.

Could you move the chair into a hallway?

Yes, a pure white throw would work as well. I suggested off white because that's how the bedding color appears on my monitor :))

No. I'm not in the UK but I will be in a couple of weeks so I can order stuff online and then bring it back. Sadly, I cannot then return stuff if it doesn't work.

Hmmmm... I have an entry way but I don't think there's enough room for the chair. Silly-I could have played it safe with the chair and had it upholstered in a pastel blue/green/grey ikat. But I didn't so too late now.

I think if you changed out the bedding for plain white or a paler colour from the chairs pattern, you could dress bed up with at least one pillow in the chair pattern, then add two more throw pillows in one of the other bright colors that you love from the chair. Maybe do Euro shams in another bright color from the chair to tuck behind the white shams of your new bedding. Some complementary artwork above the bed might give you that cohesiveness you're looking for. Love to see some "after " pics when you're settled!

Your chair is fun and funky, but the rest of the room isn't having any fun! Can you get more of that upholstery fabric for drapes? Then put solid pillows in the upholstery colors on a simple bed dressing. In the end, you need a room you can decorate around the chair. Would it work as a master's chair in the dining area? How about as an accent chair by the fireplace in your living area?

If that's the case then work with chair ,if you can find cushions with the same colours the chair will belong in the room, let me see if I can find something to give you an idea :)

It's not so bad! Cheer up! :) I would go for a blue - tangerine combination. You already have blue so you need to add the orange - a throw blanket, 2 decorative pillows in orange, one blue, or if you could get some with a pattern blue- orange, add some orange candle holders, or vase or orange picture frames on the night stands and the dresser . some farmed art caring both colors

the same for lime green and a dark turquoise - play with some green, turquoise pillows , other green accents
when time comes for new bedding, go for a white one, or some other color but plain.

The room has good bones. It's a bit difficult to see what the current wall color is, but it looks to me that the room needs to be freshened up a bit. You can easily do this with accessories. Choose one color and purchase all your accessories in this tone, mixing different shades and textures within the same palette. Also, the bedside lamps are not to scale for the room they need to be taller. If you cannot afford new lamps, replace the shades and stack some books beneath the lamp base to elevate them. Lighter drapes and a large print over the headboard, along with fresh new throw pillows in that same tone should do the trick!

Yes. It has good bones. Paint the walls. Look through magazines, where you will find many different kinds of wall colors...,ie Veranda, Elle Decor...Then, start to look at what you want to do with the chair, etc. Get rid of the third lamp. Take down the sheers.
