Your space looks good so far, I like your choices. I would put the plant in the spot next to the fireplace and call it a day. There is already a lot going on in that area, I think another piece of furniture will look too cramped near the edge of the chaise.

When guests walk in the front door do they have to scooch between the corner of the sofa and the chest or is that just an optical illusion?

Hi. It looks like your rug is a good size for this space. The space to the right of the fireplace definitely needs something for balance. I wouldn't put another chair since it looks like it maty be too cramped. Add a cabinet with a piece of art over it and a complementary piece of art over the chair on the left side for better balance. If you don't want art, you can use matching mirrors on each side. Nice coffered ceiling--but I would either eliminate the ceiling fan or get one that is white to disappear and not show as much.

Can you ''cheat" the sofa a little closer to the window to give yourselves more clearance between the cabinet on the other side?

I'd move the plant to the right of the fireplace, but lift it up on a cube or or small table and add some other plants. Maybe sit one plant on a yellow garden stool.

I would probably remove the end table on the right, move the sofa closer to the window and get a sofa table for behind the sectional. Place the lamp there. Can't really tell if your current white console could work there, which would open up the walkway quite a bit. If you need a place that is easier to reach from the chaise for setting down drinks, etc. I'd look for a small L shaped table that slips under the bottom of the couch kind of like this:

Again, not seeing the size of the white cabinet, but it looks very crowded between it and the sectional, so if it wouldn't work behind the sectional, would it fit next to the fireplace? It would look nice with some art hanging above it.

Definitely going to try putting the white chest in the right side even to see how that looks. Agree that it isn't balanced right now. I also think that is a great idea to move the sofa a few inches to the door. Going to play around with it some and see where I get! Thanks all!

If possible, I would put the white chest to the side of the fireplace and replace the TV on top of the fireplace with a mirror, it's refreshing and makes the room look bigger. I would place the TV on top of the chest [or mounted on the wall above it like this: https://tinyurl.com/bdzcmnkn] so it's not competing with that lovely window and viewers don't have to look up to watch TV. Just my thoughts. Good luck!

Perhaps you could try a small chest on one side with artwork over it and keep the chair on the other side? It might look something like this design below:
