I’d get the rug last as your upcoming purchases will have a big influence in the rug’s choice. You’ll have a better sense of a style and how much/little of a pattern best suits.

When you view the RugsDirect.com website you can specify your material preference and even the thickness of the rug. But be prepared for sticker shock because almost all the rugs are imported and subject to the tariffs.

Why not just do a carpet piece edged and be done The FP rules that space then a simple rug can allow a bit of fun in pillows or a throw across the back of a chair or sofa for some nice accent

I would do a color from the FP stone not pattern at all but a nice wool for sure. BTW I now see you have other posts about this same home . When doing decor in a home IMO the spaces that connect need to work together so in this casre the room you show here connects to the kitchen and DR area so they need to work in harmony.. The lighting now needs to all work together in some way too. I might start with the lighting to make sure all the rest is chosen with the proper lighting . I am a lover of good lighting so never have like incandescent I had halogen forever and now all LED 4000K . My opinion is the 4000K keeps colors true at night and also mimics bright daylight which I like always. So start there and really think about the type of lighting you like . Go to a good lighting store where you can see the different colors of LED and see which makes YOU feel good.

Warm and cozy.

Add a neutral rug that pulls the blue and warm colors from the stone. If you want to get crazy beef up the mantle and the shelving for a cozier look.

Adding a mirror behind the sofa will help reflect the light in the room. I used that one because it was close to the perspective that I needed, but if you go with a mirror I would suggest one with a more delicate frame and probably in a gold or brass finish. Add a throw and pillows with blue to balance out the room.

Use warm, earthy shades, layering, drapes, and a soft medium toned rug will all contribute in achieving “cozy“

When adding new accessories, maybe rethink the shelves and mantle. If interested, look on line for ideas and inspiration.

Rug is on Etsy. It’s not inexpensive as it’s wool but if you like the look, you now have a direction and can search on line. I like using Pinterest and I searched: grey blue beige rugs. Be sure to tape out your preferred size before buying and it’s best to shop in person.

Good Morning Jan, Thank you for the suggestions. I will go to Pottery Barn and look at the rug. My sofa color is attached. Is the 4000k led light going in the stand up lamp or table lamp or both?
The only thing I am not fond of is a glass table in front of the sofa. It’s a pain to clean and scratches. Could I possibly use a large round ottoman and then have a side table on the side of the sofa as well as the cocktail table between the two grey/ blue chairs? Or maybe a wood tone table?

Totally agree that 4000K lighting can feel way too cold for a cozy space. Something around 2700–3000K gives a much warmer, more natural glow — it makes fabrics and wood tones look richer too. I switched mine a while back, and the difference was huge — the whole room instantly felt softer and more inviting.

Good Morning, I will go to Potter Barn this week and look at the Beckett rug. As for Macys, I don’t want a washable rug. I think they are thin and I prefer a thicker rug, preferable wool or wool blend. As for Dash and Albert, their rug was 8’6” x 11’6’. I only have room for an 8x10.

The Dash and Albert has size 7'6" x 9' 6"!!!!

Hi Jan, Just an update. I called my Pottery Barn store and they don’t have a sample of the Beckett rug. Also, the rug is out of stock and won’t be in until Late January or February. I will go there this week and look at other options. Also ordered Dash and Albert samples.

Given your propensity for non decision, I'd order a 2' x 3 ' and then return it if I liked it and needed the big, or if I hated and it's a no go.

Jan, I ordered the Anne Selke rug sample. I also stopped by Pottery Barn. One of their designers looked at my photos of the room and these are the two rugs she suggested. One is the Reva and the other is Glen Heathered Flax and Charcoal. Took some photos of the samples in my room. The Glen does not coordinate with my living room rug, which I think may be important. Your thoughts if you care to comment.

You far overspent your budget on the other Arhaus rug. You (still) haven't found 15 minutes to throw some pillows / 29.99/ Home Sense pillows on the new P.B couch. You have been 11 months without a lighting change over the breakfast table and island. I am not saying you have made zero progress! But the snail pace is leading you and every helper here to ZERO momentum. Is momentum important? Yes... and it doesn't mean rush. But you keep L.o.s.i.n.g the thread of what works, and no designer local to you would still be paying attention to the project - when they've already given you answers/myriad selections in every single category of goods needed in that home for it to get to your cozy, welcoming thing.

The tv console is FINE. I Would probably LOWER the tv.
