I've worked in showrooms selling both Wellborn and Diamond and currently represent Wellborn in VA and WV. The Hanover door has a reversed raised panel in the center, soft close hinges and full extension slides on the dovetailed drawers are standard, and the finishes are the best at that pricepoint. All plywood is not a necessary upgrade despite the perception. The furniture grade sides are actually more dimensionally stable than plywood and are plenty durable at 1/2". (and ask where the plywood is from-many times it's a cheap imported Chinese plywood that has known delamination issues...Wellborn only uses Plywood Made in the USA) The shelves in Wellborn cabinets are 3/4" in standard or plywood construction and again, more than adequate and have the same Wellguard easy to clean finish as the plywood construction cabinets do. I'd recommend to do the standard construction with some sort of a treatment to any exposed cabinet ends (flushed ends, integrated ends, or matching finished ends) to really dress up the look...it will give the overall kitchen a more custom feel for not much more expense. One of the great things about working for Wellborn is we start at the log and mill our own wood, kiln dry it, make our own doors (ask other cabinet companies where their doors are from) and control everything in the process from start to finish. We ship on our own trucks and take pride in our products. We're not perfect, (wood isn't perfect either) but it's a company I'm certainly proud to work for!
