Inspiration for a transitional medium tone wood floor and brown floor dining room remodel in London with white walls

Iroquois Park Addition: The Study is our next stop on the tour of this home. The Study is open to the Foyer and the first room you see as you enter. We wanted just a hint of the blue/green color from the other spaces on the wall so we painted them Frosty White (SW6196). We also had Kelly Sisler of Kelly Faux Creations work her magic on their white built-ins by painting them Software (SW7074) with a bronze glaze on top.
For furnishings, we worked with the homeowners’ writing desk and wrought iron bookcase and added a wingback chair in a gray flannel fabric in the corner. The finishing touches really make this space. We added an oversized colorful map and oversized clock to the walls. We accessorized the built-in with natural and stone items to pop off the gray. We used a fun garden stool as a side table for the chair.
For the window treatments, we installed drapery panels in an updated plaid fabric on medallions to frame the palladium window.

The Rochman Design Build team transformed another garage into a gorgeous space. For this project, we tore down a detached garage of our clients’ Ann Arbor Hills home and built a new 2 story garage & Study addition. On the ground floor there is a 1 car garage plus an exercise room. The 2nd floor is a large study which will have custom bookcases, a vaulted ceiling, and lots of day light. We also built a patio on the back where our clients can have breakfast and entertain. The patio is
connected to the garage with beautiful brick pavers. There is a covered walkway between the house and the garage / Study. Following immediately with a 2nd project, Rochman Design Build moved from the garage and study addition on this Ann Arbor Hills colonial to the main house. This whole house remodel included doing a whole new kitchen, mudroom, powder room and butler’s pantry on the first floor. On the 2nd floor, we changed one entire side of the house into a large and beautiful study / office with a Juliette balcony, renovated the bathroom, and reconfigured the master bathroom including additional work in the remainder of the master suite.

Design work started with a modest design focused on improving the kitchen, living, dining and outdoor living areas. However, a feasibility study determined that a better option was to fully remodel the existing dwelling, resulting in reclaiming some of the front veranda to increase the size of the living and dining areas. The remaining section created an alcove to the main bedroom, increasing privacy and creating a dedicated outdoor area.
A large awning, cantilevered so as not to impose on the existing septic, created a separate outdoor living area. A teak facade, that will weather to grey in the salty sea air over time, was added to extend high above the box gutter, conceal the solar panels and cap the ends of the separation walls. The roof was repitched and the internal ceilings raked upwards from the teak facade, thereby increasing the internal volume and allowing for the addition of high-light windows in rooms on the ridge side of the dwelling to capture the vista, increase natural light, ventilation and sense of space.
A skillion roof outside the back kitchen area was strategically positioned out of sight from the inside of the home and created a second outdoor area in the rear courtyard, serving as the main entry point. A gate house was incorporated in the rear fence to enhance the entry. The rear courtyard reclaimed an existing parking bay to create space for the cellar/music room.

On the second floor, the main office space takes advantage of beautiful west light. In the spring, the cherry tree outside bursts into bloom, creating a soft, ethereal view. Faceted floating shelves and a built-in desk provide storage and negotiate the transition space between the old house and the new addition.
