These owners know craftsmanship and appreciate high-quality details. The owner hand crafted some of the furniture pieces included in this remodel, including the master bed frame. To update the home and do justice to the owner’s own furniture pieces, we installed a sky light in the upstairs bedroom hallway to bathe the space in light and added new doors with brass hardware. Bright white marble subway tile with lots of veining makes for a pretty shower. The shower niche is accented with a wave mosaic tile. A frameless shower with 'barn door' rollers allows you to enjoy the finishes without bulky hardware.

A husband-wife advertising couple purchased her grandparents' ranch style home and wanted an updated bathroom. He's a Graphic Artist/Animator and she's in Account Planning, so good design is a must. Both have an appreciation for retro styles, but it was important that it feel current. (Note the illustration of Godzilla that hangs on the wall.) What a transformation! Black and white can never make a comeback, because it's always around. Such a classic combo that never gets old and we had lots of fun creating a fun and functional space in this jack and jill bathroom. Used by one of the client's sons as well as being the bathroom for overnight guests, this space needed to not only have enough foot space for two, but be "cool" enough for a teenage boy to appreciate and show off to his friends. The vanity cabinet is a freestanding unit from WW Woods Shiloh collection in their Black paint color. A simple inset door style - Aspen - keeps it looking clean while really making it a furniture look. All of the tile is marble and sourced from Daltile, in Carrara White and Nero Marquina (black). The accent wall is the 6" hex black/white blend. All of the plumbing fixtures and hardware are from the Brizo Litze collection in a Luxe Gold finish. Countertop is Caesarstone Blizzard 3cm quartz.

Chinoise botanical wallpaper and bamboo lights present a lively textural contrast within this 1753 home’s historic structure. The young family who lives here craved rich colors and vibrant patterns, influenced by their appreciation for Asian art and love of gardening. Sculptural lighting pieces brighten the previously-dark interiors with an interplay between contemporary and traditional aesthetics. Custom built-ins provide important function for the family while serving to divide large open spaces and offer degrees of privacy. A playful adult bar was created in the original dining room, featuring bold blue “Garden Pagoda” wallpaper, a custom cut Carrara marble bar top, and furnishings and accessories in contrasting and complimentary styles.

OVERVIEW Set into a mature Boston area neighborhood, this sophisticated 2900SF home offers efficient use of space, expression through form, and myriad of green features. MULTI-GENERATIONAL LIVING Designed to accommodate three family generations, paired living spaces on the first and second levels are architecturally expressed on the facade by window systems that wrap the front corners of the house. Included are two kitchens, two living areas, an office for two, and two master suites. CURB APPEAL The home includes both modern form and materials, using durable cedar and through-colored fiber cement siding, permeable parking with an electric charging station, and an acrylic overhang to shelter foot traffic from rain. FEATURE STAIR An open stair with resin treads and glass rails winds from the basement to the third floor, channeling natural light through all the home’s levels. LEVEL ONE The first floor kitchen opens to the living and dining space, offering a grand piano and wall of south facing glass. A master suite and private ‘home office for two’ complete the level. LEVEL TWO The second floor includes another open concept living, dining, and kitchen space, with kitchen sink views over the green roof. A full bath, bedroom and reading nook are perfect for the children. LEVEL THREE The third floor provides the second master suite, with separate sink and wardrobe area, plus a private roofdeck. ENERGY The super insulated home features air-tight construction, continuous exterior insulation, and triple-glazed windows. The walls and basement feature foam-free cavity & exterior insulation. On the rooftop, a solar electric system helps offset energy consumption. WATER Cisterns capture stormwater and connect to a drip irrigation system. Inside the home, consumption is limited with high efficiency fixtures and appliances.
