A desire for a more modern and zen-like environment in a historical, turn of the century stone and stucco house was the drive and challenge for this sophisticated Siemasko + Verbridge Interiors project. Along with a fresh color palette, new furniture is woven with antiques, books, and artwork to enliven the space. Carefully selected finishes enhance the openness of the glass pool structure, without competing with the grand ocean views. Thoughtfully designed cabinetry and family friendly furnishings, including a kitchenette, billiard area, and home theater, were designed for both kids and adults.

We have a nice wood hood here, it's not too flashy, not trying to compete with the view, but it has its own lovely and graceful presence.

The clients love purple walls! To accentuate without competing; we incorporated white furnishings to continue the dramatic effect. The accents (pillows, rugs, art), continued the theme without being overpowering.

The love of nature is reflected in the two main pieces of art as seen though the space. A piece was commission for over the fireplace by artist Mary Farmer. The bright but subtle colors used bring interest to the walls without competing with the wainscot walls. The orange sunset in the art is balanced with the use of a contemporary persimmon colored oriental rug. Your eye is drawn all the way to the other end of the house with a bold blue sofa and art piece....Photo by Jared Kuzia

The vertical white siding against the horizontal black is so interesting, it's a contrast but without competing. The black windows stand out perfectly against both the black and white siding.

We all love the 80's, but we may not want our home to reflect that. The client wanted a compete home makeover. The end result was amazing and our client could not have been happier.

Because the granite was very busy, we chose a non busy backsplash. A simple contemporary shape but neutral color so it gives interest, without competing with the stone.

Stan Sachley design circa "1980" The architect clearly understood the proper use of space and light, while still respecting earlier mid-century desert architecture. The floors were kept clean and polished, as not to compete with the existing split travertine which ran through glass walls. This effect, blurred the indoor/outdoor living spaces. Finishes selected, were chosen to highlight a more refined and modern environment.

This front garden needed to make a link with the newly built contemporary home and its gorgeous view. The key was for the design not to compete with either. Strokes of three types of grass and textural interest and privacy while not distracting you from the main focus of the garden: the view!

This powder room features onyx countertop with LED lighting placed under the counter to show off the beautiful veining and color of the stone. The wallpaper is subtle, but modern so as not to compete with the counter and hammered silver nickel sink

We are in love with this kitchen right from the custom made metal hood fan to walk-in hidden pantry. This kitchen would make anybody feel like a master chef!
