In a world that is ever-changing and hectic (social media, technology and increased demands), this home is designed to calm and sooth the soul once you step inside. Designer Grace Covington (GC Luxury Homes) brings eclectic farmhouse and modern design elements together to create a refined yet relaxed environment. The use of current colors, textiles, finishes and products blended with decor that reminds one of their favorite family memories, bring personality and warmth to this home. Meridian Ranch is a beautiful setting with amazing views of the mountains and Pikes Peak, so particular care was taken to select finishes and decor reminiscent of a peaceful country life. Muted tones of greige with surprising pops of color, creative use of woods, sleek lighting and bath fixtures, modern tile-work and the sprinkling of cottage textures throughout- this home is gorgeous! Tranquil luxury in a beautiful and vibrant community - the Sequoia is the perfect home!

When this young couple bought their dream home, their dream kitchen seemed completely out of reach. With only minor updates to the floor plan but major updates to the finishes, the kitchen was transformed into a sleek and modern space that the whole family could enjoy. High contrast finishes feel crisp and fresh, uncluttered and composed, creating calmness and ease for an otherwise busy family.

Existing beam detail at the great room’s double-height vaulted ceiling is now a highlighted feature made to frame the large picture windows that draw the lake views in. The second-floor balcony enjoys the same views. A two-sided fireplace joins to the sunroom. The open design flows to the dining room, which is defined by the ladder ceiling beams and prominent light fixture. A walk-in wine room was added for easy hospitality with a refined display. Kitchen updates support entertaining with professional appliances, an oversized island and custom cabinetry for ample storage. Lighting design creates dramatic highlights while providing needed task lighting. A secondary sink looking onto the lake creates a composed and efficient preparation zone.

Moss Garden: A Living Carpet of Tranquility
A moss garden is a serene, low-maintenance landscape feature that evokes a profound sense of calm and natural beauty. Composed of vibrant, velvety mosses that thrive in shaded, humid environments, these gardens offer a soft, carpet-like groundcover that replaces traditional lawns or gravel with rich, green texture.
At Westland Design, our moss gardens are thoughtfully integrated into the overall landscape to enhance a feeling of timelessness and stillness. Whether nestled beneath the canopy of trees, edging a stone pathway, or surrounding a tranquil water feature, moss brings subtle movement and color to quiet corners of the garden.
Key qualities of a moss garden include:
Evergreen softness: Moss provides lush, year-round greenery that requires no mowing or fertilizing.
Quiet beauty: It absorbs sound, contributing to a peaceful, contemplative environment.
Natural elegance: Ideal for Japanese-style gardens or woodland settings, moss complements stone, water, and wood elements with organic harmony.
A moss garden is more than a design choice—it’s an invitation to slow down, observe closely, and appreciate nature’s quiet elegance.

With two small children and a third on the way, the owners of an original eighteenth century Cape were quickly out-growing it, but they had no desire to move away from the Cape Cod home and location they loved. They simply needed a reconfigured layout and more space. Their goals included repurposing some existing rooms, adding a new kitchen/family area plus screen porch on the first level, and creating a master suite and roof deck with an outdoor shower on the second level, connected by a new stair.
Our challenge was to improve the flow between existing spaces, and design the two-story addition without overwhelming the pint-sized original Cape. We took advantage of the lower grade at the rear of the property to step the first floor of the addition down two steps from the existing main level. This allowed us to align the second floor in the addition with the existing second floor, while gaining ceiling height in the new first-floor kitchen/family area. We composed a cross-gabled form for the addition to improve the second floor headroom, while maintaining the existing eave line. We then extended some existing shed dormers to gain headroom and enhance function. We also expanded the outdoor living area with privacy walls along the roof deck.
New, larger, double–hung windows that match the lite configuration of the existing windows, along with new side-wall shingles and trim which resemble the existing exterior treatment help to tie the new addition to the old Cape. Though there’s no mistaking the new for the old, the two are simpatico.

This historic residence was previously composed of multiple apartments, each with a small kitchen. We worked with cabinetry designer Christopher Peacock and the homeowner to design a new main kitchen. The Perrin and Rowe faucet fits perfectly.

Formal, linear design of front flower beds with many perennials - some native. Front pathway is composed of Permacon Melville pavers. In the small backyard, we added a serene pondless stream and corner garden with flagstone stepping stones.

Eagerly awaiting retirement, a New England-based client acquired a property in a former office building in central Lisbon. Artfully refurbished by Frederico Valsassina Arquitectos, the façade is composed of geometric strata of medium-gray panels alternating with weathered vertical staves. Our studio’s brief was to furnish and equip the interior of the vacation home to converse with the architecture, so family and friends visiting Lisbon would stay in an elegant, private setting, filled with locally-made and designer items.
Upon entering, a small shelf and mirror function as a welcome valet. The corridor opens to a cozy living room with lambent afternoon light let in by large sliding doors. Just outside, the balcony sports a café table and chairs set for an aperitivo. An enveloping sofa, produced in Portugal, and an organic recliner, create an intimate lounge area facing a classic, modular media cabinet. An artisan-made wool ottoman adds a beat of color; the lights speak in plump opaline glass and thin black metal rods. The glass top of the dining table fades into the space, leaving its sculptural, marine blue base; in a play of textures, the upholstery of the dining chairs coordinates elegantly with the smoked glass. Tile, oak, and stainless steel come together in a custom kitchen island, with additional counter space and convenient storage.
As the interior is replete with oiled oak in the floors, baseboards, doors, and cabinetry, matching wood furniture warms the bedrooms. The vertical spindles of the beds recall the pattern of the exterior façade. Laptop work is accommodated by a small console desk with a chair clothed in burgundy. Acorn-shaped pendants, inviting bed linens and rugs, and undulating curtains, all in the warm white of the walls, form a nest for relaxation.

After long days filled with noise, motion, and the weight of the world, our clients envisioned a space that felt like an exhale — a serene escape where time slows and calmness takes hold.
We grounded the room with earthy Riad tiles, their warmth anchoring the space. A Taj Mahal quartzite bench settles into the design with quiet elegance, its delicate veining adding a soft, graceful touch. Together, they compose a tranquil rhythm, turning this bathroom into a sanctuary carved for peace.

A site unlike any other presented an opportunity for a modern take on a traditionally inspired Southern Gem. Each room provides stunning views through luminous floor to ceiling windows while expansive glass doors provide access to the Home’s variety of outdoor living spaces. Reclaimed from an old church, the antique brick coupled with old pine beams create a timeless canvas while open living and fresh architectural details compose the perfect environment for family and friends.

These luxury authentic flat-weave collection represent an ancient method of creating a faux animal hair pile which was widespread amongst nomads from Central Asia to Turkey. Woven with cotton warps and Angora goat hair wefts. The goat hair creates the long haired fur-like look. Angora goats are named after the Turkish province of their origin, Ankara and these goats produce the fibre known as mohair. The lustrous hair of the angora goat occurs in every natural shade ranging from black through browns to white, thus making possible a wide variety of colour-schemes with no dyes.
More about Mohair…
Mohair is one of the oldest textile fibres in use. The Angora goat is thought to originate from the mountains of Tibet, reaching Turkey in the 16th century. Mohair is warm in winter as it has great insulating properties, while remaining cool in summer due to its moisture wicking properties. It’s possible to use double-side, hairy side for winter, woven side for summer. It is durable, naturally elastic, flame resistant, crease resistant, and does not felt.
It is a luxury fiber, like cashmere, angora and silk, and is more expensive than most wools that comes from sheep. Mohair is composed mostly of keratin, a protein found in the hair, wool, horns and skin of all mammals.

The Olympic series, designed by Lorenzo Truant and inspired by the Olympic rings, offers thin, delicate circles of light in suspension and surface mount form. The ethereal circles can be installed individually, in multiples and multiples with the rings interlocked creating large scale one of a kind installations. Offered in 3 diameters and two finishes. Each ring is composed of diffused LEDs on a metal frame. The frame is offered in painted white or anodized bronze finish. The rings provide direct and indirect ambient illumination.

The renovation of an extensive linear residence and site facing Port Orchard waterway embraces water, greenspace and forested hillside. The home, completed this fall, serves as an artist’s studio, galleries, family space, game room, outdoor living areas and peaceful retreat.
New interiors and exterior spaces and finishes, cabinetry, lighting, paving, landscape and courtyards become settings for the owner’s art + collections, three-generations of family and the wonderful colors and textures of the land + water.
Inside, a monumental central stair and tapered two-story tall red cedar and steel column was designed as the residence’s entry focal point and internal landmarks, guiding the visitor’s eye to the main atrium…. and upward. Heavy wide-flange steel moment frames support the house and enable whole walls of glass. Rough, mill-finished steel contrasts refined cabinetry, stone, wood structure and defining dropped ceilings, reflecting the opener’s love of the tension between highly polished and detailed + rough, found art.
Outside, A new southern “dining room” was designed for warm summer evening gatherings under a heavy-timber trellis. The focus, opposite water and island views, is a metal perforated screen. The final screen is composed of the lyrics from a Joe Cocker song of great meaning to the owners, cut from ½” marine bronze, set into dark-fired brick. “Oh My Darling, Be Home Soon….”
Natural daylight and high-efficiency lighting are central players as in any gallery. From a high clerestory and extensive southern and eastern window-walls to carefully selected up-lighting, pendants, and accent fixtures, Rhodes Architecture + Light worked closely with the owner to ensure that their dark existing house would become one filled with light…. night and day.
The owners, Ken and Jane, allowed us to interview them about their experience working with Rhodes Architecture + Light, and how they are feeling about living with the architecture today.
What was your experience like, working with Rhodes Architecture + Light?
“They worked with us because it was a remodel, an existing thing, and we had to try to make it work for all of our interests and how our family operated. They listened, and we listened, and it was a great communication back and forth.”–Jane
How has the renovation changed the way you live and enjoy your home?
“I remember saying to them that I want the whole floor heated because it gets so chilly down here. And we had the wood burning stove, but it was over there and now we just turn the floor heat on and we can come down. It’s cozy and nice. So we’re looking forward to winter now.”–Ken
“We have 5 kids together and now a bunch of grandchildren. I wanted a marble countertop, but there’s just no way. I didn’t want it to be a place where I had to say, ‘No, no, no. Wipe up your drink, do this, do that.’ I wanted it to be a place where everybody can come with all the kids, and we make a big mess, and I can clean it up. And we can enjoy ourselves here, because that room upstairs, we almost never went in. And now we’re in there eating pizza and watching the game.” –Jane
As an artist, Jane enjoyed the collaborative process.
“I can’t believe it was as positive as it was. I went into it thinking it would be a great, creative, fun, collaborative thing, and I have to say, with our architects, it was. I like that creative process. I always say when I am doing a painting, it’s a series of problem solving so it wasn’t unusual for me. I am completely blown away by them and had fun with that part of it.” –Jane

Blending timeless architecture with modern family living, this home balances classic gabled forms, natural limestone, and warm wood detailing in a refined transitional design. Thoughtfully composed around light-filled living spaces, generous windows and soaring ceilings fill the interiors with natural light. Open living spaces flow seamlessly to the covered patio and pool, creating an effortless connection between architecture, landscape, and daily life in this established Austin neighborhood.

Network is Roda’s archetypal collection, the one which marked the firm’s real turning point in terms of design. A product line whose highly distinctive feature is the marked presence of solid teak, a modular system for living and relax situations: Network, that is. With brilliant providence, Rodolfo Dordoni turns the skeleton of the backrest into a perfect shelf to hold the accessories of rest & relaxation. The structure offers both shape and ornament: clean lines and elegant simplicity work horizontally, in a rhythmical game of full and empty spaces. The Network collection is composed by sofas, stools, coffee table, benches, chairs, loungers and a sunlounger with wheels and teak bar for towels, in the teak structure and grey or tobacco belts.

This cozy living room balances refined design with relaxed comfort. Sage green walls and brass sconces create a soft, elegant backdrop, while a marble fireplace and gold-framed art anchor the space with timeless sophistication. Plush velvet swivel chairs in terracotta, a linen sectional, and layered natural textures bring warmth and contrast. Perfectly composed yet welcoming, it’s a space designed for slow mornings, intimate gatherings, and restful evenings by the fire.

Sophisticated and artfully composed, the dining area exemplifies contemporary elegance. Anchored by a striking dark wood table with sculptural gold legs and surrounded by plush black leather chairs with angular brass frames, the space offers both comfort and style. Overhead, a statement chandelier with matte black and brass finishes adds a dramatic architectural element. A built-in wet bar features minimalist white cabinetry, mirrored accents, and open shelving for glassware—offering a functional yet refined touch. Thoughtful details like abstract artwork, geometric planters, and reflective surfaces unify the space, creating a harmonious flow into the adjacent kitchen, all while maintaining a strong sense of modern design.

This beautifully composed, modern prefab was designed by Nicholas Fudge Architects. East Coast Modern and Lloyoll Prefabs brought this home to life along the North Shore of Cape Breton. The wide footprint, open spaces and high ceilings issue a challenge to the general perceptions of prefab and modular construction.
