This beautiful home boasted fine architectural elements such as arched entryways and soaring ceilings but the master bathroom was dark and showing it’s age of nearly 30 years. This family wanted an elegant space that felt like the master bathroom but that their teenage daughters could still use without fear of ruining anything. The neutral color palette features both warm and cool elements giving the space dimension without being overpowering. The free standing bathtub creates space while the addition of the tall vanity cabinet means everything has a home in this clean and elegant space.

In the House Beautiful 2011 Kitchen of the Year, designed by celebrity chef Tyler Florence, Harrington Maple Square cabinetry in Onyx creates an ample work island and prep area. The dark color grounds the abundant space and makes bright chairs and fresh ingredients pop.

COLOR CODED. Awash in neutral tones, this contemporary kitchen serves up simplicity in a Philadelphia couple’s secondary residence in DC. Matte white base cabinets—topped with speckled gray granite and a white ceramic tile backsplash—create a L-shaped prep center. Without wall cabinets to distract, the central window floats freely above the sink, while dappled gray resilient linoleum covers the floor.

This kitchen was great, but the layout was not working for these new homeowners. They really wanted a bigger kitchen that would give them more storage space, a pantry and a second island. We started by tearing out all the existing cabinets and countertop. For the new cabinets, they went with a mission door in maple from our Kitchen Solvers Classic Collection line. To really give this kitchen that “Wow” factor the upper cabinets were done in a snow color while the lower cabinets were done in Gale Force. To finish this new look we added a Calacatta Laza quartz countertop and a subway tile backsplash in white Urbeno. Now this homeowner has a kitchen they love to entertain in.

Custom kitchen design with a modern style. Light grey wood finish perfectly match with the cream tile. Floor to ceiling cabinets gives the impression of a higher ceiling. Interior wood cabinets.

We feel this is a great example of a beautiful kitchen remodel that did not require down-to-the-studs renovation. The changes to the cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, lighting and hardware completely transformed the look of the room. It’s now a relaxing space our clients love to use and look at from other rooms.Beautiful new cabinetry made the biggest impact on updating the kitchen. The new cabinet doors and drawer fronts are flat panel with beaded Shaker style. Brass hardware and lighting adds warmth to the space. The beautiful new blue backsplash added a relaxing touch to the room. And the custom vent hood and quartzite countertops are also stunners.
We were also able to keep elements that the homeowners loved, including their new refinished hardwood floors and wood wrapped kitchen island. Treating this renovation as a refacing saved our clients a lot of money. It was also more sustainable than a full remodel because refacing limited the amount of construction waste generated from the project.
