This compact, urban backyard was in desperate need of privacy. We created a series of outdoor rooms, privacy screens, and lush plantings all with an Asian-inspired design sense. Elements include a covered outdoor lounge room, sun decks, rock gardens, shade garden, evergreen plant screens, and raised boardwalk to connect the various outdoor spaces. The finished space feels like a true backyard oasis.

This bathroom used to be extremely dated, with dark wallpaper and a mirrored wall, it was in desperate need of an update! Now, this space has a clean, modern feel that fits with the rest of the home. The toilet is in a small, separate room connected to this portion of the bathroom to help mornings flow smoothly without sacrificing privacy when nature calls. Our clients also opted for 2 separate vanities to allow plenty of space when preparing for the day.

While a perfectly nice house, the owners felt it lacked life, charm, and presence. Originally built in 1922 the home had been through several paint color changes but nothing that really succeeded in giving it the curb appeal it so desperately needed. On a block where everyone had curb appeal, the owners asked Alair to help them up their game and create some appeal of their own.

We transformed a Georgian brick two-story built in 1998 into an elegant, yet comfortable home for an active family that includes children and dogs. Although this Dallas home’s traditional bones were intact, the interior dark stained molding, paint, and distressed cabinetry, along with dated bathrooms and kitchen were in desperate need of an overhaul. We honored the client’s European background by using time-tested marble mosaics, slabs and countertops, and vintage style plumbing fixtures throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. We balanced these traditional elements with metallic and unique patterned wallpapers, transitional light fixtures and clean-lined furniture frames to give the home excitement while maintaining a graceful and inviting presence. We used nickel lighting and plumbing finishes throughout the home to give regal punctuation to each room. The intentional, detailed styling in this home is evident in that each room boasts its own character while remaining cohesive overall.

This Condo has been in the family since it was first built. And it was in desperate need of being renovated. The kitchen was isolated from the rest of the condo. The laundry space was an old pantry that was converted. We needed to open up the kitchen to living space to make the space feel larger. By changing the entrance to the first guest bedroom and turn in a den with a wonderful walk in owners closet.
Then we removed the old owners closet, adding that space to the guest bath to allow us to make the shower bigger. In addition giving the vanity more space.
The rest of the condo was updated. The master bath again was tight, but by removing walls and changing door swings we were able to make it functional and beautiful all that the same time.

This beautiful home is used regularly by our Calgary clients during the weekends in the resort town of Fernie, B.C. While the floor plan offered ample space to entertain and relax, the finishes needed updating desperately. The original kitchen felt too small for the space which features stunning vaults and timber frame beams. With a complete overhaul, the newly redesigned space now gives justice to the impressive architecture. A combination of rustic and industrial selections have given this home a brand new vibe, and now this modern cabin is a showstopper once again!

Once a finishing school for girls this expansive Victorian had a kitchen in desperate need of updating. The new owners wanted something cheerful, that picked up on the details of the original home, and yet they wanted it to honor their more modern lifestyle. The stained glass transom has the 5 point star seen throughout the home.

This small "U" shaped kitchen desperately needed more counter space than the walls allowed. This new kitchen layout includes a new peninsula. The trick to get more peninsula length and horizontal surface was not to go 90 degrees, which would cut off the flow of the kitchen, but to go out at a 45 degree angle, allowing a less corralled kitchen space and much better traffic flow.

Desperate to update their small, quaint, urban home we came up with a clean modern design that gave them more storage and a sassy look.

We gave this rather dated farmhouse some dramatic upgrades that brought together the feminine with the masculine, combining rustic wood with softer elements. In terms of style her tastes leaned toward traditional and elegant and his toward the rustic and outdoorsy. The result was the perfect fit for this family of 4 plus 2 dogs and their very special farmhouse in Ipswich, MA. Character details create a visual statement, showcasing the melding of both rustic and traditional elements without too much formality. The new master suite is one of the most potent examples of the blending of styles. The bath, with white carrara honed marble countertops and backsplash, beaded wainscoting, matching pale green vanities with make-up table offset by the black center cabinet expand function of the space exquisitely while the salvaged rustic beams create an eye-catching contrast that picks up on the earthy tones of the wood. The luxurious walk-in shower drenched in white carrara floor and wall tile replaced the obsolete Jacuzzi tub. Wardrobe care and organization is a joy in the massive walk-in closet complete with custom gliding library ladder to access the additional storage above. The space serves double duty as a peaceful laundry room complete with roll-out ironing center. The cozy reading nook now graces the bay-window-with-a-view and storage abounds with a surplus of built-ins including bookcases and in-home entertainment center. You can’t help but feel pampered the moment you step into this ensuite. The pantry, with its painted barn door, slate floor, custom shelving and black walnut countertop provide much needed storage designed to fit the family’s needs precisely, including a pull out bin for dog food. During this phase of the project, the powder room was relocated and treated to a reclaimed wood vanity with reclaimed white oak countertop along with custom vessel soapstone sink and wide board paneling. Design elements effectively married rustic and traditional styles and the home now has the character to match the country setting and the improved layout and storage the family so desperately needed. An old 1970"s bathroom was in desperate need of a transformation. Our client wanted a clean and serene spa like space. We opened the space between her dressing room and the small bathroom t create a spacious bathroom with a large shower and a soaking bathtub. The floor is covered in alabaster marble, the shower has a mix of 3 different marble tiles and the vanity is white with Carrara marble. All the fixture are in a satin finish chosen by the client.

Originally built in 1989, this 4,100 SF Courtyard Villa and Guesthouse was in desperate need of some spring cleaning. Our team opened up the segmented home, cleared outdated materials and created an expansive indoor/outdoor living space. From the moment you walk through the double doors into the courtyard, there is a serene feeling from the pool featuring a waterfall looking through the house to the newly added rear patio with lush landscaping beyond.

This primary bath was in need of desperate repair as her spouse started some demo but didn't really finish. The outdated oak had to go. The client wanted a sleek sophisticated look. We used a black vanity with white/light accent tiles. Niches were used to increase space in the small primary bath

This 1960s split-level home desperately needed a change - not bigger space, just better. We removed the walls between the kitchen, living, and dining rooms to create a large open concept space that still allows a clear definition of space, while offering sight lines between spaces and functions. Homeowners preferred an open U-shape kitchen rather than an island to keep kids out of the cooking area during meal-prep, while offering easy access to the refrigerator and pantry. Green glass tile, granite countertops, shaker cabinets, and rustic reclaimed wood accents highlight the unique character of the home and family. The mix of farmhouse, contemporary and industrial styles make this house their ideal home.
Outside, new lap siding with white trim, and an accent of shake shingles under the gable. The new red door provides a much needed pop of color. Landscaping was updated with a new brick paver and stone front stoop, walk, and landscaping wall.

Eldersburg residence was transformed from an empty and unused space to a relaxed modern farmhouse setting. This rarely used front living room desperately needed warmth and completion. The art deco sconces were changed out to a warmer, modern rustic sconces. The beautiful view was accented by adding pops of color with geometric patterned curtains. The floor was layered with a beautiful sisal rug and additional seating was added with a soft geometric print chair in blues and greens.

A Brookfield master bath was in desperate need of a makeover. The bathroom was dated with vinyl flooring, a claustrophobic stand-up shower and a tub that wasn’t used. Kowalske Kitchen & Bath designed this bathroom with two main goals – give the couple a spacious walk-in shower and give them a bold, fun design.
The design is stunning and on-trend. The highlight of the space is the patterned floor and aqua blue cabinetry. The new vanity spans the entire wall, giving them additional storage space. The glass shower features subway tile walls and hexagon carrara marble floor tile. The room is completed with Kohler fixtures, oil rubbed bronze lighting and hardware, open shelving and antique gold mirrors.

2013 Tour of Remodeled Home #13
This was a great home, but it was in desperate need of a kitchen remodel by Fleming Construction LLC because the original design was bulky and lacked efficiency.
"The owners needed space to cook and bake for a large family and home daycare. By removing a dysfunctional island and installing a peninsula we were able to increase workflow in the kitchen. Replacing the desk space with a 64” refrigerator and flanking it with pantries, we added a ton of storage space. We updated the old butler’s pantry into a beverage bar and spruced up
the powder room.

This homeowner had custom cabinets built for their new home back in 1986. Due to their high quality, they still look amazing, but the kitchen was a bit outdated and desperately need a fresh facelift. Wanting an update, the homeowners hired Kelly Zamonski who helped them rearrange their layout using existing cabinetry in the bathrooms, install new tile flooring, new Cambria countertops, new tile backsplash and new stainless steel appliances. To top things off, she applied KraftMaid door panels to the backs of both peninsulas.

This is the second home on this street that we have had the pleasure of modernizing. This home still had the original kitchen, bath and floor-plan and was in desperate need of an update. The homeowners worked with Susan Yeley Interiors to come up with a design that was fresh, while maintaining the integrity of the original design of the home. This remodel included opening up the kitchen into the adjacent spaces, reconfiguring all of the bathrooms and laundry room, and replacing all of the flooring in the home. We are so pleased with how it all came together!
