We transformed a Georgian brick two-story built in 1998 into an elegant, yet comfortable home for an active family that includes children and dogs. Although this Dallas home’s traditional bones were intact, the interior dark stained molding, paint, and distressed cabinetry, along with dated bathrooms and kitchen were in desperate need of an overhaul. We honored the client’s European background by using time-tested marble mosaics, slabs and countertops, and vintage style plumbing fixtures throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. We balanced these traditional elements with metallic and unique patterned wallpapers, transitional light fixtures and clean-lined furniture frames to give the home excitement while maintaining a graceful and inviting presence. We used nickel lighting and plumbing finishes throughout the home to give regal punctuation to each room. The intentional, detailed styling in this home is evident in that each room boasts its own character while remaining cohesive overall.

We gave this rather dated farmhouse some dramatic upgrades that brought together the feminine with the masculine, combining rustic wood with softer elements. In terms of style her tastes leaned toward traditional and elegant and his toward the rustic and outdoorsy. The result was the perfect fit for this family of 4 plus 2 dogs and their very special farmhouse in Ipswich, MA. Character details create a visual statement, showcasing the melding of both rustic and traditional elements without too much formality. The new master suite is one of the most potent examples of the blending of styles. The bath, with white carrara honed marble countertops and backsplash, beaded wainscoting, matching pale green vanities with make-up table offset by the black center cabinet expand function of the space exquisitely while the salvaged rustic beams create an eye-catching contrast that picks up on the earthy tones of the wood. The luxurious walk-in shower drenched in white carrara floor and wall tile replaced the obsolete Jacuzzi tub. Wardrobe care and organization is a joy in the massive walk-in closet complete with custom gliding library ladder to access the additional storage above. The space serves double duty as a peaceful laundry room complete with roll-out ironing center. The cozy reading nook now graces the bay-window-with-a-view and storage abounds with a surplus of built-ins including bookcases and in-home entertainment center. You can’t help but feel pampered the moment you step into this ensuite. The pantry, with its painted barn door, slate floor, custom shelving and black walnut countertop provide much needed storage designed to fit the family’s needs precisely, including a pull out bin for dog food. During this phase of the project, the powder room was relocated and treated to a reclaimed wood vanity with reclaimed white oak countertop along with custom vessel soapstone sink and wide board paneling. Design elements effectively married rustic and traditional styles and the home now has the character to match the country setting and the improved layout and storage the family so desperately needed. This bathroom used to be extremely dated, with dark wallpaper and a mirrored wall, it was in desperate need of an update! Now, this space has a clean, modern feel that fits with the rest of the home. The toilet is in a small, separate room connected to this portion of the bathroom to help mornings flow smoothly without sacrificing privacy when nature calls. Our clients also opted for 2 separate vanities to allow plenty of space when preparing for the day.

Roger and Miriama desperately needed a new outdoor living area and a better indoor-outdoor flow. “We had a sense of what we wanted for the deck. The builders suggested what they thought would work best for the flow; we agreed and they went for it. The result is just great!” says Miriama.

Colors have such a high impact on our mood and behaviors inside our homes. Because shades of blue remind of the sky and water, they help foster a soothing atmosphere inside homes, which is more attractive than ever. Blues are timeless and the perfect color to relax our minds and center ourselves— something we so desperately need after the chaos of 2020. Add in some organic materials to ground the space and it's as close as you can get to bringing the beach inside your home!

At the end of 2012, Danberry came across what was then a rundown home in the Casco Point neighborhood of Orono, in desperate need of some design help. A failed attempt by the previous owner to remodel it as an investment had left it abandoned for years. But when the Danberry’s got a glimpse of this diamond in the rough, they knew it had potential. The project included a completely remodeled kitchen, bathroom, basement and living room.

Originally built in 1989, this 4,100 SF Courtyard Villa and Guesthouse was in desperate need of some spring cleaning. Our team opened up the segmented home, cleared outdated materials and created an expansive indoor/outdoor living space. From the moment you walk through the double doors into the courtyard, there is a serene feeling from the pool featuring a waterfall looking through the house to the newly added rear patio with lush landscaping beyond.

This complete kitchen renovation included removing an adjacent brick fireplace which allowed us to expand the kitchen and create a far more functional design that was desperately needed. The custom blended gray stained maple cabinetry, quartz counter-tops, beveled subway tile back-splash and luxury vinyl tile flooring created the design that our clients had only dreamed about. Notice the different counter-top heights due our clients unique accessibility challenges.

This hillside unit with a view of all of beautiful Ventura was in desperate need of a remodel! The kitchen went from a tiny box to the entire width of the common space opening up the room to an open concept floor plan. Mixing glossy laminate doors with an ultra-matte black door, we were able to put together this bold design. The fridge is completely concealed and separating the pantry from the fridge is a walnut-look wine stack perfect for all the entertaining this couple plans to have!

This kitchen was in desperate need of a makeover. (see the original space at the end) There was a truly odd peninsula that blocked the cook from access to the refrigerator behind it. The span was only 33" which made working in the area almost impossible. The peninsula was also the weekly dining area, but did not function well. This makeovers is truly one of my favoirites as it shows what good design can do for a space!

This tiny 800sf cottage was in desperate need of a makeover. Black Rock remodeled the entire two-bedroom cabin and created this wonderful kitchen space. These two-tone cabinets, white and black tile backsplash, and white granite countertops highlight make this tiny kitchen feel bigger than it is.

This beautiful home is used regularly by our Calgary clients during the weekends in the resort town of Fernie, B.C. While the floor plan offered ample space to entertain and relax, the finishes needed updating desperately. The original kitchen felt too small for the space which features stunning vaults and timber frame beams. With a complete overhaul, the newly redesigned space now gives justice to the impressive architecture. A combination of rustic and industrial selections have given this home a brand new vibe, and now this modern cabin is a showstopper once again!

This client desperately needed more space in their bathroom. This was a complete gut job. We removed a hall closet to give more space, relocated the shower, vanity and toilet. Installed everything from, ceramic tile floor, vertical white subway tile, glass detail tile, pennyround tile for the shower floor, glass shower panel and created a organization nook for towels and toiletry items. This was a truly unique project to work on and the clients are beyond happy.

This primary bath was in need of desperate repair as her spouse started some demo but didn't really finish. The outdated oak had to go. The client wanted a sleek sophisticated look. We used a black vanity with white/light accent tiles. Niches were used to increase space in the small primary bath

This small "U" shaped kitchen desperately needed more counter space than the walls allowed. This new kitchen layout includes a new peninsula. The trick to get more peninsula length and horizontal surface was not to go 90 degrees, which would cut off the flow of the kitchen, but to go out at a 45 degree angle, allowing a less corralled kitchen space and much better traffic flow.

This is the second home on this street that we have had the pleasure of modernizing. This home still had the original kitchen, bath and floor-plan and was in desperate need of an update. The homeowners worked with Susan Yeley Interiors to come up with a design that was fresh, while maintaining the integrity of the original design of the home. This remodel included opening up the kitchen into the adjacent spaces, reconfiguring all of the bathrooms and laundry room, and replacing all of the flooring in the home. We are so pleased with how it all came together!
