Eichler X-100 Office: A Workspace Designed for Clarity and Inspiration
The office in the Eichler X-100 is a study in focus, light, and intentional simplicity—a space where work and design exist in perfect balance. Conceived by A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Emmons for Joseph Eichler, it reflects the same forward-thinking philosophy found throughout the home: that environment shapes how we think, create, and live.
A Place for Focus
Unlike traditional enclosed offices, the X-100 workspace is designed to feel open yet controlled. Clean lines and minimal visual clutter allow for uninterrupted concentration, while the architecture quietly frames the experience.
It’s a space that encourages productivity without pressure.
Light That Enhances, Not Distracts
Natural light plays a central role in the office’s atmosphere:
Skylights introduce soft, diffused daylight from above
Glazing provides visual connection without overwhelming the space
Light shifts gently throughout the day, keeping the environment dynamic yet calm
The result is a workspace that feels energized but never harsh.
Connected, Yet Private
Positioned within the home’s thoughtful layout, the office maintains a sense of separation from main living areas while still feeling connected. Views toward interior gardens or adjacent spaces provide visual depth without sacrificing focus.
You’re part of the home—but in your own zone.
Architecture as Backdrop
Subtle structural elements—such as exposed steel and clean geometric lines—serve as a quiet backdrop, reinforcing the modernist language without dominating the space.
Everything is intentional. Nothing is excessive.
A Forward-Thinking Workspace
Long before “work-from-home” became the norm, the X-100 anticipated the need for spaces that could support both professional and personal life. The office is flexible, adaptable, and integrated—perfectly aligned with how we live today.
Where Ideas Take Shape
The Eichler X-100 office is more than a functional room—it’s a creative environment, shaped by light, proportion, and connection to nature.
It’s a place where ideas can form, evolve, and take shape—within a home that was designed to do exactly that.
In the X-100, even work becomes part of the architectural experience—proving that great design doesn’t just support living, it elevates thinking. Image Sabrina Huang

Castaway
An Oceanfront Residence
Clearwater, Florida
This breathtaking ocean-front family vacation retreat is positioned between the beach and harbor, an idyllic haven offering panoramic sunset views that will leave you in awe. Our mission was simple yet profound: to let the natural beauty of the surroundings shine while infusing the interior with elements that evoke the tranquility of the ocean.
Drawing inspiration from the sandy shores, we embraced white-washed wood veneers and wood-look porcelain tile flooring, chosen for their practicality and resilience, especially for a space frequented by energetic grandkids. To add a twist of creativity, we installed the tiles in a unique pattern, inviting you to "walk along the plank" towards the mesmerizing vistas.
The dining room serves as a tribute to the couple's engagement in Santorini, adorned with canvas prints of photos taken during these cherished memories. In the dining room and master bedroom, we meticulously selected the perfect "Santorini blue" tones for the accent walls to continue to narrate their story.
Crafted with Treefrog veneers, the custom millwork combines elegance with durability, while the bathrooms exude a spa-like serenity with their natural textures and sandy hues, enhanced by thoughtful lighting.
For the kids' room, we embraced vibrant colors and durable materials, ensuring a space where creativity knows no bounds. Meanwhile, the guest bedroom invites tropical relaxation with its palm leaf motifs and organic accents.
Overall, our design ethos revolves around a light and airy color palette, inspired by the tranquil hues of sand and sea. Strategic pops of color breathe life and vibrancy into the space, creating the perfect atmosphere for a dreamy vacation home experience. Join us as we embark on a journey to transform your space into a coastal paradise!

The primary bathroom is designed as a serene, spa-like retreat. A freestanding soaking tub is perfectly positioned to capture peaceful views of the private backyard, creating a calming space to unwind. THE SETUP
Our journey began with a familiar face — Alicia had previously transformed the client’s mother’s home, establishing a trusted relationship that naturally led to this personal project. The client desired a kitchen that truly reflected her own style while facilitating seamless entertaining.
Design Vision:
The original kitchen, segregated from the dining area by a wall, hindered the flow of interaction and space. Our client envisioned a unified area where she could engage with guests in both the kitchen and dining room simultaneously. Moreover, the space lacked a central island, relying instead on a floorplan anchored by cabinetry in a u-shaped layout.
Design Objectives:
Open up the space for an airy design conducive to entertaining large gatherings
Modernize the kitchen to be both stylish and functional
Integrate the design with the home’s new black-framed windows and doors
Relocate the cooktop to a central position to enhance usability and interaction
Design Challenges:
Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room would necessitate the rerouting of existing HVAC ductwork that services the upper floor
Limited pantry space in the existing kitchen
The existing u-shaped layout of the kitchen restricted functionality and storage options
Insufficient space for wine storage
The client desired a raised-furniture look for the island, but without showing a new downdraft vent
THE RENEWED SPACE
Design Solutions:
We added a second HVAC unit to the upper floor and rerouted the existing ductwork in that wall
Created tall pantry pullouts on either side of the fridge to maximize dry goods storage
Designed a long island to facilitate cooking stations and dining moments
Created a stylish open display cabinet for wine
Engineered a dual-design island with a footed floating aesthetic on one side, and a full floor reach on the other to conceal the new downdraft ventilation.
Paired with the newly opened adjacent dining room featuring a wet bar, the kitchen has become a stylish and highly functional space for cooking and entertaining. Following a large baby shower hosted by the client (which seamlessly accommodated an 80-person gathering!), it is clear that the new design not only meets but exceeds the needs for hosting and everyday living. This project was a harmonious blend of the client’s vision and Alicia’s innovative design solutions, resulting in a kitchen that truly embodies personalized elegance and functionality.

Enhance your living room’s design with coffee tables, accent chairs, and recliners. Coffee tables should be proportional to your seating arrangement and positioned for easy access. Accent chairs or recliners add comfort and style, whether placed near the sofa or as standalone features in a cozy corner. These elements tie the room together while adding practical functionality.

The kitchen and living area are bright and airy, with a cohesive design centered on light beige and neutral tones. The kitchen features a centrally located light beige or tan island with a white quartz or marble countertop, complemented by matching cabinetry adorned with dark-colored pull-out handles. A built-in stainless steel oven or range is integrated into the island, while a stainless steel sink is positioned within the kitchen's perimeter cabinetry, which mirrors the island's style.
The open-plan living area flows seamlessly from the kitchen, showcasing a light-beige sectional sofa and a set of chairs arranged around a TV mounted above a section of beige flooring. A painting adds a touch of artistry to the space, while the light beige tiled floors and neutral off-white or cream-colored walls enhance the bright and spacious atmosphere.
Decorative accents include a wall art piece featuring hexagon-shaped green plants or artificial foliage above the dining area. The ceiling, painted in a matching light tone, is outfitted with recessed lighting for a modern touch.
Large windows flood the space with natural light, likely offering views of a patio or outdoor area. The dining table, set with a few chairs, is visible and integrates effortlessly into the open-concept layout, completing the inviting and functional design.

In the heart of the home, We've meticulously crafted a sanctuary of creativity and productivity in this home office. A symphony of design elements converges to create a space that not only reflects my professional ethos but also serves as a haven for inspiration.
At the forefront of the room are nine floating metal portfolio prints, each encapsulating a unique design narrative. These prints are more than decorations; they are windows into the journey as an interior designer, weaving a tapestry of experiences and influences that have shaped my craft.
Positioned strategically, a 43" LG 4k TV graces the wall, with integrated Philips Hue lighting behind it casting a soft, ambient glow. Flanked by custom ebony veneer columns, this entertainment hub seamlessly combines modern technology with bespoke craftsmanship, creating a visual spectacle that enhances both work and leisure moments.
Lighting plays a pivotal role in setting the ambiance. Recessed square LED lights illuminate the space, while two incandescent wall sconces add a touch of warmth. All of this is seamlessly orchestrated through Lutron Caseta WiFi switches, allowing me to curate the perfect lighting atmosphere for any occasion.
Functionality meets aesthetics with Merillat cabinetry thoughtfully integrated into the design. These cabinets discreetly store away office supplies and materials, maintaining a clutter-free environment conducive to focus and creativity. The ebony veneer theme extends to the custom columns, creating a visual harmony throughout the space.
The pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the standing desk, a marvel of modern design and functionality. Its programmable feature allows for up to four memorized heights, catering to my ergonomic preferences throughout the workday. This dynamic element not only promotes a healthier work lifestyle but also symbolizes the adaptability and innovation that define my approach to interior design.
In this carefully curated home office, every detail tells a story, and every element serves a purpose. It is a reflection of our passion for design, where form and function coalesce to create a space that not only meets professional needs but nurtures the spirit of creativity and innovation.

Located in a beautiful spot within Wellesley, Massachusetts, Sunspace Design played a key role in introducing this architectural gem to a client’s home—a custom double hip skylight crowning a gorgeous room. The resulting construction offers fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces within the home, and blends well with the existing architecture.
The skylight boasts solid mahogany framing with a robust steel sub-frame. Durability meets sophistication. We used a layer of insulated tempered glass atop heat-strengthened laminated safety glass, further enhanced with a PPG Solarban 70 coating, to ensure optimal thermal performance. The dual-sealed, argon gas-filled glass system is efficient and resilient against oft-challenging New England weather.
Collaborative effort was key to the project’s success. MASS Architect, with their skylight concept drawings, inspired the project’s genesis, while Sunspace prepared a full suite of engineered shop drawings to complement the concepts. The local general contractor's preliminary framing and structural curb preparation accelerated our team’s installation of the skylight. As the frame was assembled at the Sunspace Design shop and positioned above the room via crane operation, a swift two-day field installation saved time and expense for all involved.
At Sunspace Design we’re all about pairing natural light with refined architecture. This double hip skylight is a focal point in the new room that welcomes the sun’s radiance into the heart of the client’s home. We take pride in our role, from engineering to fabrication, careful transportation, and quality installation. Our projects are journeys where architectural ideas are transformed into tangible, breathtaking spaces that elevate the way we live and create memories.

This project featured a custom wine cellar installation in a residential basement in Calgary, designed to highlight both the collection and the overall ambiance of the space.
We installed integrated backlit LED lighting to create a warm, elegant glow behind the wine display, enhancing the visual appeal while maintaining a clean, modern look. The lighting was carefully positioned to showcase the bottles without overpowering the space, creating a balanced and inviting atmosphere.
Attention to detail was key, with concealed wiring and precise placement to ensure a seamless finish. The result is a refined, high-end feature that elevates the basement and adds a unique focal point for entertaining and display.
All work was completed to current electrical code standards with a focus on both aesthetics and long-term reliability.
