The owners of this Glenview, IL Modern Style Home heard of Siding & Windows Group was located in the area and is known to be an Elite Preferred installer of James Hardie Siding. They wanted to update the look of their home with replacing their existing failing wood Siding with low maintenance James Hardie Siding. We removed old Wood Siding and installed high quality James Hardie Panel Custom Smooth Siding in ColorPlus Technology Color Timber Bark and HardieSoffit Smooth Vented Panels in ColorPlus Technology Color Timber Bark. House has beautiful curb appeal.

On their 20th year of owning this home, the homeowners decided to remodel the bathroom. The shower glass was failing, mold was accumulating, and there was possible water damage. After browsing on houzz.com for ideas, they collaborated to make this beautiful masterpiece. They decided to keep the same footprint, because they liked the layout. Tons of upgrades! Shaker style white cabinets, complete with a Rev-A-Shelf for the hairdryer. Black leather granite really adds dimension to this bathroom! We also put in a custom mirror.

This Longmont home had failing composite wood siding in the gables, which was a real eyesore. We ripped the old siding off and installed WoodTone Rustic Series James Hardie shake siding with the Mountain Cedar finish. We then painted the stucco with Sherwin-Williams Duration paint.

The 800 square-foot guest cottage is located on the footprint of a slightly smaller original cottage that was built three generations ago. With a failing structural system, the existing cottage had a very low sloping roof, did not provide for a lot of natural light and was not energy efficient. Utilizing high performing windows, doors and insulation, a total transformation of the structure occurred. A combination of clapboard and shingle siding, with standout touches of modern elegance, welcomes guests to their cozy retreat. The cottage consists of the main living area, a small galley style kitchen, master bedroom, bathroom and sleeping loft above. The loft construction was a timber frame system utilizing recycled timbers from the Balsams Resort in northern New Hampshire. The stones for the front steps and hearth of the fireplace came from the existing cottage’s granite chimney. Stylistically, the design is a mix of both a “Cottage” style of architecture with some clean and simple “Tech” style features, such as the air-craft cable and metal railing system. The color red was used as a highlight feature, accentuated on the shed dormer window exterior frames, the vintage looking range, the sliding doors and other interior elements. As a large studio, we decided to combine the living and bedroom area - creating the feeling of a master suite! The sleek living space features a yellow upholstered loveseat and two modern orange chairs. These bright but warm hues subtly stand out against the dark grey backdrop, espresso-toned hardwood floors, and charcoal-colored coffee table. The bedroom area complements the dark hues of the living room but takes on a unique look of its own. With an exposed brick accent wall, gold and black decor, and crisp white bedding - the dark grey from the headboard creates congruency within the open space. This roof had to be replaced after only 12 years as it the original roofing crew did a poor job on the installation. We replaced the roofing using CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles in weathered wood. We also installed new LP smartside on the upper dormer. Our roof replacements get inspected by the manufacturer and we have never had one fail the inspection.

With a narrow driveway and leaning concrete retaining walls, parking was a major challenge at this 1938 brick Tudor on Spokane's South Hill. Crumbling concrete stairs added another layer of difficulty, and after a particularly rough winter, the homeowners were ready for a change. The failing concrete walls were replaced with stacked boulders, which created space for a new, wider driveway. Natural stone steps offer access to the backyard, while the new front stairs and sidewalk provide a safe route to the front door. The original iron railings were preserved and modified to be reused with the new stairs.

Then the wooden rails were replaced with aluminum rails and glass panels, thus opening their views amazingly to the water view they have.

The original poorly-lit and narrow staircase failed to meet IRC code requirements, necessitating a wider and more accommodating design. To structurally secure the new spacious welded steel and solid oak free-floating staircase and to move the catwalk by three feet involved close collaboration with structural engineers and the implementation of a steel I beam extending from the front toward the back of the house, with a 45-degree turn to connect with existing structural supports on the second floor.
