A spacious colonial in the heart of the waterfront community of Greenhaven still had its original 1950s kitchen. A renovation without an addition added space by reconfiguring, and the wall between kitchen and family room was removed to create open flow. This white-on-white kitchen design has a transitional style and incorporates beautiful clean lines. It features a Personal Paint Match finish on the Kitchen Island matched to Sherwin-Williams "Threshold Taupe" SW7501 and a mix of light tan paint and vibrant orange décor. These colors really pop out on the “white canvas” of this design. The designer chose a beautiful combination of white Dura Supreme cabinetry (in "Classic White" paint), white subway tile backsplash, white countertops, white trim, and a white sink. The built-in breakfast nook (L-shaped banquette bench seating) attached to the kitchen island was the perfect choice to give this kitchen seating for entertaining and a kitchen island that will still have free counter space while the homeowner entertains. This Wauwatosa Georgian Colonial home was in need of a kitchen remodel to that stayed true to the style of the home while blending in with the other recent updates made to the home. The previous kitchen had a broken stove, inefficient storage, high maintenance finishes, and lacked the simplicity that the clients wanted. Now after the remodel there is improved circulation into the dinette for entertaining family and friends. Lighting was vastly improved and now highlights the coffered ceiling, subway tile backsplash, and cabinetry. The clean look of the full overlay white Plato cabinetry allows for a contrast with the Verde Peacock Lite granite countertops. A 36″ Thermador cooktop and GE appliances provide for an updated stainless look and a kitchen ready for cooking. The Ebony stained maple hardwood flooring adds the final soft touch for an updated kitchen in 2015.

This award-winning project was what Moceri Custom Homes calls their Modern Prairie style design, a stunning new construction ranch home with an expansive open floor plan. After viewing the plans for the new build, the designer, Sandra Daubenmeyer of KSI Kitchen & Bath, quickly began envisioning a modern design with prairie-inspired, true-brown wood tones, a splash of drama, and lots of natural textures. She selected Dura Supreme’s Bria frameless cabinetry in the Carson door style, achieving a warm feel with Quarter-sawn White Oak in the “Morel” stain finish. Then Sandra added a dash of the “Onyx” stain on the Maple wood species to add some intriguing contrast to a few accent areas. A simple front facade consisting solely of ten-foot shuttered French doors radiates elegance in this new traditional foursquare home in Washington, D.C. Featured in Country Living magazine, the airy plan offers spaciousness in a limited-fronted site of the American foursquare house. The goal for the design was creating a contemporary foursquare style house. The family room and kitchen of this American foursquare interior are separated by a glassy built-in rather than walls, encouraging visual connection between the spaces in the four square house. Though nestled in the city, this American foursquare home feels like a classic country home.

Best of Houzz Kitchen Design 2016 winner. A custom kitchen remodel was one of the final projects for this beautiful Georgian Century Home. All the details were part of the effort to maintain the feel of an old kitchen but with all the most current conveniences. Notice the glass cabinet hung in front of a window, granite counter top repeated as the back splash, porcelain tiles that mimic wood and marble on the floor, a stunning island light and the coffered ceiling.   Free ebook, Creating the Ideal Kitchen. DOWNLOAD NOW   This young family of four came in right after closing on their house and with a new baby on the way. Our goal was to complete the project prior to baby’s arrival so this project went on the expedite track. The beautiful 1920’s era brick home sits on a hill in a very picturesque neighborhood, so we were eager to give it the kitchen it deserves. The clients’ dream kitchen included pro-style appliances, a large island with seating for five and a kitchen that feels appropriate to the home’s era but that also is fresh and modern. They explicitly stated they did not want a “cookie cutter” design, so we took that to heart. The key challenge was to fit in all of the items on their wish given the room’s constraints. We eliminated an existing breakfast area and bay window and incorporated that area into the kitchen. The bay window was bricked in, and to compensate for the loss of seating, we widened the opening between the kitchen and formal dining room for more of an open concept plan. The ceiling in the original kitchen is about a foot lower than the rest of the house, and once it was determined that it was to hide pipes and other mechanicals, we reframed a large tray over the island and left the rest of the ceiling as is. Clad in walnut planks, the tray provides an interesting feature and ties in with the custom walnut and plaster hood. The space feels modern yet appropriate to its Tudor roots. The room boasts large family friendly appliances, including a beverage center and cooktop/double oven combination. Soft white inset cabinets paired with a slate gray island provide a gentle backdrop to the multi-toned island top, a color echoed in the backsplash tile. The handmade subway tile has a textured pattern at the cooktop, and large pendant lights add more than a bit of drama to the room. It's elegantly paired with countertops of Calacatta Rhino marble, provided by Aria Stone Gallery.
